Imagine if every horse in the mainstream modern equine world of ours got a solid start in their training & every horse trainer worked for a living like this... & then everybody bought their horse from a trainer like this. Then people wouldn’t have to spend crazy amounts of money going from clinic to clinic searching for answers to problems that should never of occurred. It was a pleasure to watch another trainer do some quality work on young horses, knowing that they’ll forever be set up to succeed in life & that a future owner will purchase an asset instead of a burden of debt !! Awesome stuff 🤠
This man knows what he is doing I do similar training and he didn't stay on long enough to hurt them him getting on helped them KEEP ON COWBOY..........long live the cowboys
As a guy who has started many hundreds of colts, in my older age I gotta say I thought my carrier was about over but have sure been enjoying starting young ones and getting them READY for life. GOOD WORK!!!
This was wonderful! I've worked with adult horses for decades, but I'm training my first yearling, and have been trying to think of things to do. Saving this for future reference.
I think this is amazing! great work. but I do agree with the other comments about laying on them. perhaps someone very small and light would have been better. however I must applaud your hard work and great results with these yearlings.
An all round good job! When it comes times to really start these foals, they will go into serious training ready to work with confidence and trust. Great job, Bryan!
These animals have been handled, and people should realize that not all young stock will be this calm. I like everything except the bow he does when he stops the horse. I've trained some really wild animals in my life time and they all are a little different loved them all!
Love starting them off young, but you really shouldn’t be putting to much weight on them till they are 3-4 years old. 5 years old is technically when most horses are finished developing but lots of people like starting them earlier. Having weight on them too soon messes with their bone and muscle structure.

@@raeganstegmeier9131 You're right. I just grow weary of hearing the same old argument for the same people all the time and ,making any attempt to inform or educate falls on deaf ears. Even saying university studies they will respond with "Well, I don't start mine until they are five"... to discover they have started 2 or 3 in a life time. But you re right and I TRY not to mock...
this is awesome. I have personally seen a grown man get on a foal that age but it didn't appear to cause them discomfort. we have a yearling that me brother does the jeffreys method on but he only weighs 90 lbs.
Please do more videos about how you accomplished these things starting out that would be amazing:) I have just got a yearling and we have been doing alot of the stuff in this video, and can flex throw the rope all over and more. But im struggling to get him to move his feet at all. He is ok to lead and us pretty soft but stops when near food and refuses to lunge( not that I want him to do much lunging, just move his feet) and also back up and trot in hand. He picks things up really quickly but I was reading a discussion about desensitation vs sensitisation, and motivation. I realise I also have made some mistakes due to this making it worse by probably being alittle too impulsive rather that light handed. But any tips on where to go from here and get him motivated to move his feet would greatly appreciated. I would never hit or yell at him either, I just am willing to learn as much as possible to be as soft as possible with a responsive horse. Tips appreciated 😇

Sorry I’m late, and I know this comment was not directed at me but I am training a foal, and even though I have the experience, I wanted to have all the help possible, considering that I’m doing this alone. I have a big stack of books now... and the best one (that explains how to do everything) would definitely be John Lyons “Bringing Up Baby” . He writes directly how to get them to this point, and makes it simple! I also watched Clinton Anderson’s video on foal training. I don’t have the kit that he advertises, but you really don’t need it if you watch the vid 5-6 times😄. Hope this Helps! Love, Sea
kayleigh jordan it’s not hurting them laying on them for not even 2 minutes it’s not effecting them so quit saying poor horses there too young um no there not
That's the way to train them to see if they are broke and ready, just a few minutes is not the same as riding them. Just a few minutes won't hurt the horse, he is demonstrating that they are broke. Laying all the way helps not put that much weight on them for safety, see how he doesn't actually SIT on them in Riding position? You have lack of knowledge in this.
I disagree. It is absolutely fine and very beneficial for the horses to have the weight and body manipulation (legs, going back & forth, etc...) at a young age. They are certainly not hurt by the weight, and notice he didn't ride them around, even in a lunge circle. It was simply downward pressure. This man has a gift. I've been riding horses since I was 6 and have owned horses, including training, riding, competitions and pleasure, since I was 12. I am now 50 and I learned a lot from this video. He truly has a gift for starting yearlings the right way. I'm so grateful I ran across this video and will be using his techniques with my Friesian.
