This may sound crazy, but I am 'busty' and feel the sling bag accentuates that area. Therefore, I tend to wear a crossbody or small back pack. I really enjoy your videos!
I recently bought Aer Day Sling 3 to replace a backpack and I am in love with it. It holds everything including a water bottle and iPad mini. It is going to be my inflight sling bag for my next trip! So excited and happy! I enjoyed your video! Thank you!❤
I only recently purchased my first sling bag and I love it! They're smaller and much lighter weight. They feel more secure against my chest too. If I carry a larger purse, I tend to overload it or my husband keeps handing me stuff to put in my purse for him.
@@GenxGypsy1968 I recently purchased him one for travel. He's almost on board with getting a smaller one for his wallet and keys for everyday use. Back in the fanny pack era I used a fanny pack on vacation so I couldn't carry anything for him or our kiddos.
I have a Travelon crossbody bag and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It is so comfortable and never bothers me in the least and I pack it full! Plus, it has a slash proof material and a slash proof strap. All of the zippers lock for safety so it would slow someone down. It is probably one of the best purchases I have ever made! I’ve been carrying it daily for years and it still looks brand new. As well!
I took a belt bag (small Lululemon type)and a small Tom Bihn cross body called a Side Effect (which could be worn as a belt bag) with me when I spent 3 weeks in Paris this past June and used both. Somtimes the crossbody got in my way if I bent over/down or was carrying bags. I use my belt bag on the plane and put it on as soon as I am in my plane seat. Everything is right there, no digging around or trying to find a place to put it. Both have their uses and every adventure is different.
I lived through the fanny pack crazy. So when I saw the sling bags I thought, nope! Not doing that again. Plus, now I have a tummy. However, I’ve been thinking of giving it a try for travel. My go-to everyday bag has been a crossbody for most of my life. I’ve purchased several Travelon bags since the late 90’s and have loved them. I’m finding most sling bags a bit bulky for me. I have recently found Lululemon’s Everywhere belt bag 1L and most use it as a sling across the chest. It feels like the perfect size for me but it is not RFID or anti-theft. The strap is quite sturdy and I can get RFID sleeves for my cards and passport. So far, these have been my thoughts. I do appreciate this video. It has reinforced my thought of giving the sling bag a try. Thanks.
I think a lot of us GenXers are still traumatized by seeing our Dads and grandparents wear fanny packs back in the day, so I'm team sling all the way! The one place I'll wear a fanny pack in the future is places like Universal Studios, they let my mom keep her fanny pack on her during rides but I had to put my crossbody into a locker. Pfffffftttt.
What a great video! I have a few eBags crossbody purses (no longer available) that I absolutely love as they have a ton of different compartments. I am able to find anything I need in there by touch when I’m driving, so I’m team pockets. And boy am I glad that the youngsters have brought back the FANNY PACK! Sure, they wear them as slings but who are we kidding, these are fanny packs! I’m a practical gal so I love the versatility of the fanny pack and the security of wearing it as a sling. ❤
I have the location of everything in my purse memorized. I’m often wearing my toddler in a carrier on my front, wearing a backpack on my back, and have my crossbody at my side. So to access it, I reach one hand behind my back to my purse and get out my train pass/hotel key/ phone etc without looking. It’s not the easiest, but it works.
I have a cross body bag that has several pockets. Its a hybrid between a cross body and a sling and I love it for travel. In order to identify what is in each compartment I add a charm or ribbon. That way if I’m looking for a comb I’m not zipping open every compartment.
Thanks for the great video! I prefer a crossbody. I just don’t like the look of a sling bag/fanny pack. I always travel with my husband (who tends to pay for everything 😉) I do carry a slim wallet, some cash (which I prefer to keep in an interior zippered pocket), tissues, a lip balm and a small stick or powder sunscreen. We also mostly travel during the shoulder season and I wear my bag under a jacket or cardigan so the strap is hidden. I also love the fact that I can rest my non dominant hand on my purse which adds extra protection from pick pockets. Lastly, it’s small enough that I carry it through the airport with all of my in flight & security necessities inside and can easily stick it in my personal item if requested.
When traveling internationally, I usually pay for things because my husband doesn’t have a card with no international transaction fees. Everyone brings the check/bill to the man still.
I purchased a large leather sling bag and I love it! It's versatile, carries a lot including a small water bottle, and looks cool too!! being leather it will last a very long time!
For our London trip I used a Travelon anti-theft crossbody bag. I debated back and forth between that and a sling bag. Decided on the crossbody because it felt less touristy. I prefer a happy medium between open bag storage and pockets. To be honest, I’m neither team crossbody or sling…I’m a bit of a bag ‘ho so I have both and it depends on my mood or activity. 😁👛👜
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
I’m a big fan of the Arden Cove range of anti-theft bags. There are different straps that you can purchase to suit your requirements and some of the bags in the range can be worn in multiple ways. I love that they have lots of security features but are still stylish.
The belt bag aka fanny pack is great for theme parks, especially if it has the three prong connector as you can stuff your phone and wallet in them and take them on rides where they won't allow a backpack or purse. And bonus, I'm 5'1.5' tall and weigh less than 115 pounds and if I move the belt bag to my side it helps keep me from sliding around in the ride seats!
I’ve got that menopause belly thing going and have had breast cancer. The sling bags rub the wrong way on my bust line and irritate my incisions. Plus they make me look even bigger. I’ll use a tiny crossbody if I need a bag. But I’ve finally downsized my needs to the point that I can get by with my phone with an attached wallet on the cover. Then I can tuck my keys and chapstick in my pockets.
I like the Coupe XL from Lug. It can be worn as a crossbody, sling or belt bag. That way, depending on the situation, I can wear it whichever way I need to.
i love pacsafe crossbody bags. they are safe/theft proof and have thicker straps, a few pockets (which i like, as long as there are not too many 😅), and a water bottle sleeve. i wear them toward the front so i can easily get stuff out of them. i also have a tiny travelon sling, but it’s more for a quick run at home than for travel.
I also have a pacsafe crossbody bag. I love it! It's probably not as stylish as the cross body shown in this video but it works. It can also be worn as just a sling bag. I love the fact the strap is slash proof. I also wear it toward the front!
@@conniekershaw4412pacsafe is a brilliant brand. not as stylish as other bags, as you say, but they are well made and give me piece of mind, especially as a solo traveler. 👍🏻
I travel with my Vera Bradley sling bags. They have.a regular size or a mini. I also like her cross body bags for hands free. If I went overseas i would buy a Travelon theft purse cross body.
I'm handicapped and have been in a wheelchair for over 10 years so I am "team crossbody" but I used to wear regular hobo style bags. I've ALWAYS been nervous wearing a backpack BC of my wallet and being afraid of pick-pocket-ers.... Have you done a comparison of the Lululemon crossbody and their sling/belt bags? They are nice bags. Another great video, thank you 😊
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
Haven’t tried the sling bags yet. Love my Travelon crossbody bags. I’m short with a short torso, so a challenge to find a sling bag that doesn’t overpower me.
I’m definitely team cross body. I bought a Pom Pom London City Plus bag before my recent trip from the UK to New York. It came with a narrow leather strap, a wide fabric strap of my choice, a gold coloured chain and a large coin purse. It was perfect. As dressy or casual as you liked, fitted everything I needed, except maybe a water bottle, but I rarely go to anywhere that I can’t buy a drink. The main zip compartment could be clipped to the strap so would have made it difficult for any would be thief’s to get into it. I filled it with my flight essentials on travel day and put it in my personal item bag and then hung it from the tray table during the flight. I have been thinking about getting a sling bag, but I’m travelling to Asia next and I don’t want the sling sitting against my body, making me hotter than ever. I think I’ll stick to my cross body bag.
You don't have to choose! Kipling has a fantastic convertible bag that goes from sling to fanny pack to crossbody and it's spacious enough for your personal documents, phone, lip balm, earbuds, etc.
I'm a big fan of the Travelon crossbody bags and they now can convert to a waist or sling bag. I almost always wear it as a waist bag. I have a large chest and I don't think the strap looks good on me, plus it's easier to pick up my daughter when it's not in my way.
Thank you for your opinion! I have been pro cross body, but you wear the sling so elegrantly, I might have to change my mind. And that is the best part of being a woman - I can choose a different opinion.
Thank you ❤️. And yes, I love our freedom to change our minds... there very well could be a future trip that I decide the crossbody works better for me 😊
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
Kipling cross body bags are the BEST for travel and everyday for that matter. VERY lightweight and durable. Try for yourself, you’ll never go back! Add on. My sisters and I traveled to Greece in the last couple weeks, she had a sling similar to your and hated it! Too cumbersome to get in and out of and she got tired of it being well right there…
I keep thinking that a fanny pack would be convenient for travel, but just can’t hop on the trend. I’m sticking with my crossbody purse….for now at least. I think a purse looks less like a tourist. But it’s a bit less secure the way I wear it. 🌺 Heidi
I thought you might have mentioned that sling bags are not considered a personal item when going thru the airport and they’re (mostly) allowed as accessory.
Unfortunately, that is not always the case...many airlines have started considering the sling bags as a second personal bag. However, if you can hide it under your jacket or sweater when boarding the plane on those more strict airlines, you can usually get away with it as an extra bag 😊
I just purchased a Travelon anti-theft crossbody purse and I am looking forward to using it. I like crossbody bags and I do like the outside pockets and zippered inside pockets. With this bag, I can lock the zippers so that is added safety. BTW, I would love you to do a tutorial on how you style your hair. I love it! Love the curls.
I'm a very big fan of a rfid plus slash proof antitheft cross body bag. It is the smaller one; fits my wallet, phone, keys and maybe a lip balm, and small packet of hand wipes. That's it. Safe, small, easy.
I'm crossbody all the way, I don't like the extra with a sling adds to my body. Plus I can carry the crossbody as a shoulder bag in the evening for a dressier look. I prefer one that I can remove the strap and add a nice chain strap or just carry it as a clutch for an evening out. One bag, multiple uses.
I'm getting ready to fly out to Vegas tomorrow, and have been 'back and forth' about what bag to bring to the airport!! So I decided to get a cross body bag from Amazon yesterday...It's so difficult for me to give up my big purse for something smaller, but I want to be hands free!! I can change out the straps too, so I'll let you know how it goes !!
I am just the opposite of you, and that’s okay. I tend to like separate pockets in my carry bag, because I know, mentally, where certain items are and can quickly get to them. But to each their own organizational method, right? 😊
as a "curvy" woman, I cannot wear a sling bag across my chest or asa fanny pack. I love a flat - ish crossbody bag. A couple of pockets is great if you only have a few items. If i need more room and want to bring makeup, hand lotion, etc, i go with a backpack if I'm traveling.
I have that same exact Amazon purse and you can wear it around your waist like a fanny pack. Just shorten the strap and you can take it on and off easy by the Dclip area!
For every day running around I am team… Crossbody. However… On vacations or for travel… I am team sling bag/fanny pack. I DO wear it as a fanny pack because it doesn’t seem to go over my breasts very neatly and Straps go under one of my best to make it stand out and look very awkward., so I use them as a fanny pack and I find it very accessible. I’m glad they came back in fashion because I always like the convenience of wearing a fanny pack for travel.😂😊🎉
I LOVE fanny packs but these days I usually wear them as a sling bag. However, there are times where being able to use it as a fanny pack is really helpful. Also, I absolutely need lots of pockets. A place for everything. Crossbody straps always rub my neck and it's annoying and uncomfortable.
When I became a mom, I realized a sling bag across my chest is the best hands free option. It doesn't swing around much and everything I need is easy to access even if I am carrying my toddler. 😊
I need lots of pockets in my purse to stay organized. I know exactly what’s in each pocket. A purse with few pockets I am always digging and looking for things. I wish I knew of a croobody bag with lots of organization pockets but that is not too small so I can use it for my daily purse.
Awww, thanks 😊. Because I've gotten so many requests, I do have a video in the planning stages about "the hair" 😂. Hopefully in a few weeks, so keep an eye out!
Sherpani Vale (14"x10"x4.5") just perfect as Personal Item in the plane and a good walk around purse. I'm not finding your newsletter link? Help when you have a minute. Sincerely!
Do you think i can wear the sling while on the plane? I totally forgot i have purchased 2 exit seats on the plane and didn't think (it wasn't mentioned either) of there not being a seat in front where i could put my bag.
If you have big boobs a sling bag is awful. 😂 I use a Travelon crossbody where the straps and body are slash proof. Also a cross body bag should be worn cross body and not hanging on one shoulder. I also carry a backpack with my crossbody if I need to carry more items such as a jacket, water bottle, kindle, portable charger, etc.
I don't like the way the close crossbody or slings look sitting high up. But the shoulder bags slung over and shoulder/chest aren't really much better sitting at the hip. Certainly both are more secure than a handbag or clutch. Money belts are not convenient. Sigh.

I prefer to wear slings in the “Fanny pack” style bc when I bend over to do something it stays put. Over the shoulder slings slide all over the place. Also I’m a GenX’er who loved the rainbow 80’s Fanny packs with a passion.
