I just got a killer instinct burner 415 for an anneversiary gift. Thank you for showing the proper tecnics to keep the crossbow lubed and clean. You thought me some stuff. Thank you sir.
This is really important though. When I got my first crossbow I had no clue what the hell I was doing. And I blew my first string out after 30-40 shots. All because I didn't lube the rail. Hope more people catch on to how the lube properly. Thanks for the video man
Glad to help. If you want check out my entire crossbow playlist - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kv6ZxCokC08.html Thanks for watching and let me know how it goes this year.
If you like the hot seat I have 2 things for you. One, I did a video just on old hot seats - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gvIa1OaG4wI.html Two, I had a humorous story about Heat Cushions published in InFisherman a few years ago, but you can read it here www.thefreelibrary.com/The+Heat+Cushion.-a0609817738 I hope you enjoy these look backs at the old Heat Cushions. Thanks for the support.
Wasn’t rail lube an old, old wooden ship? 😅 Loved the Anchorman quotes ❤ First time viewer and soon to be crossbow owner - thanks for a great video and useful info 🙏 Will be tuning back into your channel - subscribed 👍🏻 Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 and Merry Christmas 🎄 to you
I'm shooting an Excalibur recurve, Matrix 380 ..... ..... N0 Cams, N0 wheels, N0 Cables, N0 sliders, N0 oiling the trigger N0 lubricating the rail. An occasional touch of wax on the string is all the required toʻ transfeŕ sufficient lube to the rail. You can also change your own string in the field without a bow press IF ... it accidentally gets knicked
Yes, I actually mention Excaliburs in a recent video and how simple can be better sometimes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n6TeqzSdBLc.html
Thx for the waxing tips doc. I finelly broke out my gogun RX adder, and i just needed some waxing do's and don'ts. There's no waxing instructions in the box. Go figure.! Awesome video, and great info. Nice tips and trix. 👍👀🖖👻🤘😎🎸🎶
Great video Dave!! Keep up the great work. Also did you every do a review on broadheads? The pros and cons and what you like to use. God Bless you all too!
Thanks and no broadhead review yet, but I did do a "Practice with your broadheads" vid if interested - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5g1oKokQSIk.html
In addition, I use string wax to maintain the bowstring, but it still has some noticeable dryness and whitening. What is the reason for this? What should I do? I am looking forward to your answer very much
Hello, I have a question that I would like to ask you. I tightened the main bolt connecting the bow head of the barnett XP380 in winter, will it damage the components due to expansion in summer?I screwed it very, very tight, so I wonder if thermal expansion will affect the parts
I never have, but you're right things are different at colder temps. Might be a good idea to for sure use an oil based lube on the rail instead of a wax based lube in real cold temps. Both are considered good options by most manufacturers.
Is it normal to have a little scratch near where the string rest cause mine does I think it may be frome the rope cocker cause it went under the string a few times but I think it should be ok
Been enjoying all your fall series videos. I purchased a Barnett Black Cat last season and love it. Very simple recurve model. I use the bow wax on the strings and for the rails I spray silicone on a shop rag and wipe them down. Seems to work well. Loved the Promiscuous Doe Segment! Dave were you on a couple Spotted Cows or was that all natural? Best of luck to your camp this season!
Thanks for all the kind words Mark. I was channeling my inner Paul Rudd/Will Farrell and I was sober for the Promiscuous Doe! I'll be watching for your deer season stuff.
so I have been doing research and some people say to put in on the middle and some say you don't have too because of the barrel lube. Also were the cams are I mean there is wax on there would it hurt to put a little if it starts to dry up?
The thing is all of these bows are the same type of load and not even a super harsh load at that when you compare it to what most lubricants are used for. So unless im missing something you could use so many different oils for this application, something that wont flow off easy qnd has a high film strength would be pretty ideal but i dont see a reason you couldn't use graphite based lubricant either as long as the lubricant you pick doesn't react with your string material or your rail. Smell could be a factor when hunting.
Never really noticed maybe because I try to keep the rail lubed all the time. I guess it does add a few FPS compared to a dry rail though from what I've been told.
I have a question, on my barnett explorer xp370 my string is fading where the cables meet where usually the slide guide is. I put wax now every 7 shots like my local shop said where a slide guide would usually be but still fading more where the cords get friction. And every 15 shots on the reg string like barnett suggest.
It is 9 months old, shot maybe 70 times. Took a doe last season with it and plan to change it out next season. Going to put maybe 20 more shots out of it this year.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Yeah, I'm getting the string changed out after this season. I would this season but 225 dollars to have new string put on is insane especially since I have only had the bow for 9 months..
And you know I shot a Wharton for like 20 years and I used to shoot veins I mean feathers instead of veins on my crossbows I shot feathers 125 grain muzzy they shot fantastic double x Easton
I know it’s been almost a half decade since you made this video. It’s there any other or better rail lube products on the market other than scorpion venom lube or rail snot? They both seem to collect dust and dirt for me.
I definitely wouldn't recommend kerosene as it's corrosive. Most of the rail lubes are silicone disulfide oil based some have added PTFE for friction reduction, you can find silicone disulfide based oil for treadmills much cheaper. You can make a paste wax for the string and cables with bees wax and coconut oil. However if you are still covered by the warranty it's advisable to stick to the recommended lubricants and maintenance schedule.
I just got into crossbows and didn’t realize you can over lube, lube surveys and my string has came off twice first time didn’t realize and did it a second time so decided to do some research and quickly realized…. I’m an idiot.
