Gotta love the game's logic Some moveable wood pile: 134 shots A damn wooden tower: 60 shots Well I guess it can be collapsed somewhat easy, but still it looks weird
I think it's safe to assume that the Lord doesn't get killed by the 1000th shot but rather just collapses due to the weight of 1000 bolts stuck in his armor.
@@kotzpenner funfact: with the moral buff, a pikeman can even win against a knight. And even without it, he can stand good against the swordsmen or the knight I think only the monk is his 'weakness'
@@astrid2432 Pikemen (and spearmen for that matter, and for some reason assassins) gets a really big bonus against cavalry. Also really good against armored units yeah
Wait, pikemen are more durable than swordsmen, they are cheaper to manufacture (less iron needed), cheaper to hire, AND move faster? Then what's the point of swordsmen? Maybe they hit stronger... But that doesn't mean shit if they die at a disproportional rate, and cost way more.
Pikemen are not always more durable. Some units (particularily archers) will kill Pikemen a lot faster than swordsmen. Also, combat prowess is an important factor. Pikemen can sometimes even lose against Macemen whereas swordsmen are the most powerful melee unit in the game (aside from lords).
Couple of things. As one comment already said, they can take less than a third of the regular arrows that swordsmen can take (most AI lords use archers so that’s a plus) and swordsmen also deal the most damage out of all melee units (combining highest melee damaged with best armor means they are the strongest singular melee unit in the game). Pikemen deal very little damage for the weapon that they use, they still pack a punch but will lose against macemen, assassins and arabian swordsmen (realistically they should deal the most amount of damage of all melee units considering the weapon that they use).
Holy crap; that difference between Arabian Swordsmen and Crusader Swordsmen w.r.t. crossbow bolts O.O 3 shots for the former, 12 for the latter. I get that the Crusader Swordsmen were intended to be a bit more heavily armored, but that's... a really big difference.
The big thing is that arab swordsman (80 gold to hire) is 3 bolts away from dying, and monk for 10 gold is also 3 bolts from dying, but he is way faster.
@@kanker5256 Not for Archers, as much as it's a broken 10 gold per good melee unit, they are still too slow if you have a good archer defense. Of course, their cost is so low does that even matter?
Oh man I always thought Swordsmen were the best offense and defense unit but they're just far inferior to Pikemen it seems. You'd think that big shield and full armor would be worth something but nah, what a shame.
As one comment already said, they can take more than thrice the amount of the regular arrows that pikemen can take (most AI lords use archers so that’s a plus) and swordsmen also deal the most damage out of all melee units (combining highest melee damaged with best armor means they are the strongest singular melee unit in the game). Pikemen deal very little damage for the weapon that they use, they still pack a punch but will lose against macemen, assassins and arabian swordsmen (realistically they should deal the most amount of damage of all melee units considering the weapon that they use). In my opinion pikemen aren’t worth it and I never use them, I do heavily use swordsmen on the other hand tho, to defend the lord if nothing else. Pikmen are too vulnerable to most missile fire and lose in melee against most strong units.
Aber ich glaube alles außer den Löwen geht one shot drauf? also zumindest ist mir nie was anderes aufgefallen. send an army of hundred fire ballistas and you destroy any castle in no time. if you really want to go Ultra instinct you can make shields to protect those fire ballistas
Armored unit? Crossbowmen are faster. However, for unarmored and quick units (slaves, slingers, horse archer, macemen, etc) archer is more effective because their attack speed.
wait what Archer need 50 Shot for Pikeman and 167 shot for E Swordsman but crossbowman need 12 shot to kill E. swordsman and 17 shot pike man why pike man taking more bolt ?
It's because Pikemen have more HP than Swordsmen, while the Swordsmen have a lower damage per (normal) arrow. It's a little complicated. There isn't some kind of "armor" stat in the game. It's quite individual, how much damage a unit takes by a certain damage type. For Example: A Swordsman has 25.000 Hitpoints and takes 150 damage per Arrows and 2200 damage per bolts. A Pikeman has 50.000 Hitpoints and takes 1000 damage per arrow and 3000 damage per bolt. And yes, every unit has it's own fixed number, how much damage it will get by different damage typed. As I said, it's complicated ^^
Oha.
