Damage to walls is all about attack speed for all units except the ram. The faster the attack animation, the quicker the destruction. Pikemen have the shortest.
Some side notes: 1: Crenelations have a height of 7 instead of 6 (for walls), so they are about 16% sturdier. 2: A double layer wall doubles the sturdyness of each wall segment (there is some kind of thickness bonus in the game). Therefore it takes the units twice as long to destroy one single wall piece if there is more than one layer.
Actually, assassins can attack the wall, as long as they are grouped with units that can and one uses the attack button. There even once was a glicht, where they could destroy walls with a single hit.
@@dariusmoga3373 You wonder that about pikes but don't seem to mind that those monks with their WOODEN STAFFS were the fastest xD EDIT: Oh wait, they were slightly slower than pikeman. Still, WOODEN STAFFS!
Lol yes they have always been my favourite unit and turns out they've always been the siegemasters I held them up to be. High defense fill moats and eat walls for breakfast. I used to infuriate my friend with cleaning up his castles with just pikemen and mobile shields
0:23 - That jester playing around , as if to inspire the guy to poke the wall faster, killed me :D . 1:10 - That sound of hitting a wall , and i was thinking that minecraft, should use these sounds for it. Great video, didnt thought about such a test, good job and subscribing.
Love your stuff. You're like the german Spirit of the Law for Stronghold! Though it'd be nice to have all the times on one screen at the end to get a better picture.
Well, if your enemy has mass archers, than it probably isn't the best idea :D But against mass crossbows they perform better than most would think (in comparison to other units).
Brother this is fantastic! Your whole channel is amazing! I didn't think anyone played this game as much as I play it! Time to binge all your vids! Well done sir and Im a new sub!
Assassin’s can! Just select assasin and another unit that can attack wall. Select attack button from menu and click on wall and assasin will attack wall too.
1.1 and 1.2 Sure All when you choose horses and assassins and hitting the force attack button on the right you can break walls, Maybe also in all versions
I know this would be a bit longer in terms of research or playtesting but what about a video on unit synergies? Would be interesting to see what things could work together. Just an idea of course.
Agree.. That feature lessens the importance of siege engines and therefore makes the gameplay unrealistic... walls shall not be destroyable even by the rams... that would be the real medieval experience... keeps would gain the importance they had
Wow nevermind you have a main channel in German. I almost thought you were a chineese content farm for real. Great skills though, that's why I got it mixed up probably.
I thought you could get fire throwers to attack walls but selecting them alongside another unit type. And the AI definitely can do it, probably because they're not limited by UI. *shrug*
Do you know whether a crenelation gives extra protection to a.archers/archers/crossbowmen that are placed behind them? I always wondered about this and also whether high crenelations would give more protection than normal ones (if they give any at all)
I always expected crenelations to give some protection, I did some tests with archers at medium range and crenellations don´t seem to give extra protection. Being on a wall does give good protection(like doubling the durability), but the crenellations don´t seem to add anything. Also, crenellations cost as much as high walls. I might do some more testing and upload a video on my youtube channel.
Actually slaves and assassins CAN attack walls if u first click the attack icon in the lower left hand corner, instead of just attacking normally.Just thought u should know this;)
Get a group of at least 5 macemen, set them to aggressive and put them in the middle of a lot of buildings, they will destroy everything. Edit: it is not about DPS alone, but trust me, macemen with their high DPS and quick movement imo are the best for raiding stray buildings.
Lord Udwin, can you please make a video on every death animation possible??? It would be nice to compile all death animations of each unit Possible list: -Standard melee death (e.g damage from Spearmen) -Standard projectile death (e.g damage from Archers) -Massive melee/projectile death (e.g. damage from Macemen or Catapults) -Fall death (the unique animations for Archers, Spearmen and Macemen while climbing ladders) -Out-of-function death (when the Laddermen's ladder break or when Tunnelers end digging) -Fire death (common to everyone) -Lords (unique animation for European and Arab lord) Also, this compilation can have sequels, "non-military units" death animations or "animals" death animations (don't forget wolves) since both are also interesting to watch and compare between each death-type Please like so he can see
Yes, it's a bug. Their attack animation gets played double before landing a hit on a wall. It isn't fixed in the base game tho, but in the inofficial crusader patch.
