The real question would be, how financially stable CrossFit was when Glassman was CEO? Because if the first 15 years were founded by private capital investment without revenue whatsoever, then it needs a 180 degree make over. Anyway, I enjoyed CrossFit a lot more when former management was running business.

I completely agree with Sevan here! That is exactly what CrossFit needs! Also that scaring away plays for CF in the long run. That walking through waterfall gives it that exclusivity and makes it a little bit separate from the rest of the world. Also I went to a PE University and didn't tell a lot of my classmates I do CF. But now years later so many of them started doing it. Suddenly I start meeting them in CF boxes or I see on IG they started doing it. They found their way to it. We shouldn't chase new people! We should be fit and do our thing and people will find us. :) Props to Sevan! You hit the nail on the head!

I didn’t know a great deal about crossfit before I started I knew enough that it was my best chance to get fitter for life, didn’t know a snatch from a clean and jerk 😂 Felt out of place for the first couple weeks by how good everyone was around me but 3 years later I’m so glad I stuck to it and wish I started earlier and never felt better! The kids are now interested in it as well so not only has it been great for me but hopefully gives my kids a good start too. I think word of mouth will keep new people coming through the door because we all know we’ll always talk about crossfit given half a chance

He literally SOLD the company for $100million. Why do you doom speakers talk like this. Greg sold it, he also defunded the games, took the money out of media/fired them randomly. The games makes no money. They have to make it profitable, like any company. It’s always been a business.
@pinkwonderpants
@pinkwonderpants 3 месяца назад
@@premiertrainingFL Exactly, it's a business first driven by affiliates and the community. The sport and games itself have never been profitable. Regionals prior were bleeding money in the millions. Defunding the games and reallocating assets to aid affiliates by increasing education for affiliate owners, coaches, and trainers were going to be taking priority. That's also why the year round competitions were allowed so professional athletes could earn income more often versus being dependent on one competition out of year for income or marketing. Caveat to this is that people without event experience lost money trying to host approved and certified qualifying competitions without capital. Circling back to being CrossFit being purchased and what the current VC's have been doing, they're only objective is to increase value, strip assets, and sell for profit. Long term goals focused on the affiliates aren't on their radar. They're meeting the usual VC trend of selling 3-5 years after acquisition. But they refocused more on the games and semi's versus the affiliates and community. Now they're seeing a loss in revenue and they're trying to stop the bleeding. It's not doomsday speak, it's facts. Emotional reaction to woke culture lead to the CrossFit space is headed now. I wouldn't be surprised if the games ceases to exist in 2-3 years and hyrox ends up with ownership equity or complete ownership of CrossFit, Inc.

CF has to separate the affiliates from the sport. Pick any other professional sport, the NBA, the NFL, the PGA are all run separately from all other levels from pee wee to college. The UFC does not try and control what occurs at the average BJJ school or tournament.

Yes and no. Most affiliates wouldn’t surivived if it wasn’t CF. They wouldn’t know how to promote their business and would have no marketing behind them. Let’s be honest, most of the members go to a CF gym to say they do CF. If the gym was name different, they wouldn’t even look at it. CF gives them seasons and events with the open, the games and local competitions Without that, people wouldn’t bother

@@m.a.p.dmstrainingandequipm8076 My point was, from a business perspective, there needs to be two different companies, one for the affiliates and promoting the methodology, and one for the sport/games side. Affiliates shouldn’t have to deal with the drama of whether the games are profitable.

I train from home. So maybe I just don't understand what I am talking about. It just seems to me, as a guy who also significantly cross-trains, that CrossFitters have quite a lot to work with, but this corporation makes a mess out of it for profit. Is it possible to pick like 12 patterns and make them the competitive patterns. Maybe alternate them year after year, four each year, repeating every three years. Like Weightlifting, you really only need a standards body to make rules and manage the organization of top-level competition.

CrossFit sold for an estimated $200,000,000. There are like 13,000 affiliates worldwide, and those affiliates are worth somewhere north or $50,000,000 in annual revenue for CrossFit. Why doesn’t someone organize the affiliates and turn CrossFit into a cooperative of the affiliates? The affiliates have so much leverage here.

Crossfit can probably just end up being just the Crossfit Games and owned by a corporation like Advance (who bought the Ironman Triathlon races from Wanda for USD 730 million). I think that just Crossfit the methodology will not have scaled to where it is now without the "Crossfit Games" but the "Crossfit Games" can probably live and be popular without the Crossfit branded methodology. At this point functional fitness gyms can probably produce Crossfit Games athletes without needing to be branded Crossfit.

Going forward, losing HQ would mean anyone and gym can use the word CrossFit. A further step to make it a legit sport would be have a global federation. The Games and other major events will run on their own - no more affiliate fees without much in return. The good events will continue while the bad organizers fade.

You’ve got to get the younger crowd into it. By young I mean the high school aged and even junior high school aged. Use the CrossFit style workouts to translate into sports/gymnastics/dance/whatever. You have to integrate it into “life”. It’s great for the older crowd because they can use it scaled to lose weight, get strong, and get in the best shape of their life. Get FAMILIES into it, you need to SHOW people that anyone can do it. The problem is that it’s there’s no messaging to get it out there…..all you see are these super athletes squat cleaning 365lbs and doing like it’s a toothpick and doing burpee box jump over like a rabbit on crack and they can’t RELATE. You have to be relatable and solve a problem if you want to sell something.

It's difficult to invest fully into a brand where the skill is working out. Most sports have a thing that attracts fans, for an example. The rich and sophisticated history of tennis or the brutality and athleticism and cheerleaders in football. Maybe CrossFit needs to find a way to market women or some level of sexual desire/fantasy

I really think that the way to pull all of this shit out of the toilet is to emphasis CrossFit for specifics sport - focus down on the means as opposed to the end result (The Games). If we're talking about this in the abstract and trying to put CrossFit in the best position moving forward then I think it's going to be capitalizing on the handful of successful athletes in other sports arenas that are using CrossFit for their training. That proves the methodology to the masses because and NFL player is an "athlete" to everyone. So we need to market that, put it in front of the masses, then tailor programming for sport. You can't tell me that you couldn't get a bunch of AAU/traveling sport youth in the gym for their offseasons as long as it's marketed as hey we're going to improve your overall fitness and we're going to build on singular things for your sport. The brand value for game's athletes doesn't go much beyond a standard fitness influencer - look at this jacked person. The brand value for an NHL player, NBA player, NFL player, tennis star, whatever is much higher when looking at the mass market. Then we're still climbing the same hill of butterfly pull ups and whatever non-sense criticism of Crossfit.
