Loved the additional looks from '94 and '99! I remember the Times Union ran a big first page story in like 1997 talking about the expansion plans. It was hard to believe back then but the Pyramid Cos were on a roll and malls were more or less at their peak powers
It was legal to smoke in malls back in the day. The salespeople in the appliance department at Sears in Colonie Center would smoke while selling you a washer and dryer. They would toss their butts on the floor and the janitor would come by at night and sweep them up.
This is great! I love going to the mall (don't let them die) but I also sympathize with those worried about overdevelopment. That's a HUGE problem where I live these days. It's too bad the mall couldn't include an on-site garden to help preserve the natural environment around it.
