The fact that, once again, I've watched one of your feature length videos in one go says a lot about how engrossing and interesting they are. Superb, top quality work as usual, and what an amazing landscape. Thank you for taking us along on your cross country adventure.
The videos are always of incredible quality, nothing offensive, no unwanted personal opinions, that some may find offensive. Just the kind of video that you would allow your young children to watch, and gauge their reaction on the incredible beauty of the Scottish highlands. Video heaven,
I remember when the old signalbox was operational before the RETB signalling took over an me and my butty Mike (we were both Train Drivers, now long retired) were invited up into the old signal box by Jimmy, the signalman, who was a real character to exchange railway banter. The 360 degree views from inside the box were absolutely spectacular... what a fabulous place to work... I also remember encoutering "Dave the Juggernaught" by the railway bridge shown in your video, who was carrying the biggest rucksack I'd ever seen before or since... it was at least 100 litres... he was completely buggered and he put his rucksack down when he spoke to us.... He had a ghetto blaster and loads of cans of food/drink in his rucksack, and everthing but the kitchen sink, it being his first, and probably last expedition to the Highlands... I almost felt sorry for him. We stayed in the SYHA, where we encoutered a large stag, complete with huge antlers loitering outside.... Tom, the Manager explained that he was very old and had lost most of his teeth, so was thus reliant on people feeding him, hence him becoming tame(ish)... We were told that he later had to be shot, as he would obviously be unable to feed himself in the winter. Tom the manager, who was in his 60's, was well known for inviting all comers to race him round the forestry track circling Loch Ossian... Memories, memories... now my knees are knackered, so no more galavanting around the highlands carrying 65lb rucksacs (as weighed on the scales at Abergavenny Station) for me...
I'm a signalman. Always daydreamed of box's like that. But even the ones I did years back. It may have been romantic looking. Bit trying to keep warm during the winter wasn't so 🤣
What an absolutely fabulous vlog. I can't believe the amount of work you have to do, in producing this, AND all the climbing and cycling. Such a beautiful part of our great country. I so look forward to your vlogs. Inspirational. Thanks so much. Beautiful. The venison burger just looked fab too!!! 😊
Really enjoyed this longer video, I settled down to a great nights viewing, better than anything on the tv! Really appreciate all the work that goes into it, it enables me to feel like I’m travelling the route too, thank you so much!
Oh my that got my bike juices flowing Murray.. I've just about got my bike legs n lungs going and ready to hit the Bikepacking trails once the earth warms... That was a lovely excursion and I thank you... 🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️😎🥃
Hi Anna- on no - hope the videos can take you mind off your injury for a wee while. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the ankle heals well and quickly Thanks for watching ATB Murray
We saved this to watch on one of our movie nights. Better than any Hollywood blockbuster! Yet certainly as well produced! 😊🙌. The effort you put into your videos, both physically and in the edit doesn't go unnoticed by your viewers. We really enjoyed the cycling element to this cross country adventure too. Thank you so much for taking us along on this epic journey, and for providing us with a throughly enjoyable night's entertainment 😊🙌👍
Beautiful Murray, apart from short flattish walks in the lakes.( knees are shot.) I live my outdoor life through you.keep on doing what you do.for as long as you can.🥃
Thanks Neil - the bike certainly helps on the longer trips - really enjoy it , maybe a bit more than long distance trekking as the bike does a lot of the work :). (Not all of it though!!lol) Thanks for watching Murray
Absolutely cracking Murray, you did fantastic, the scenery was awesome, thank you for the video always great contents, thank you for sharing. Well done glad you were kept safe.
What a joy to watch. Not only one of your beautiful long episodes but something slightly different to boot. It was superb watching you tackle that route. I'm glad there wasn't too much hike-a-bike for you. The road in Glen Lyon is ine of my favourites in the area for cycling - quiet and beautiful. So glad you enjoyed flowing down it. And the film from Glen Almond has made me think I need to go and explore it. Thanks again for creating and sharing this, it seems like a huge amount of work to entertain us.
Thanks Alasdair. The descent down Glen Lyon was delightful - especially after a full meal from the wonderful cafe at Bridge of Balgie! :) I can thoroughly recommend Glen Almond too - a wonderful and quite glen to explore for sure :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Sorry guys, maybe you’re not noticing, but as a person born in Hungary, raised and educated in the USA, I must add one thing: the accent adds so much, that I can’t stop watching. Now I have Scotland on my bucket list.
Very enjoyable hour Murray! One for the BBC, love the longer formats. I tell you what though, some good chow, that burger! haha. Thanks for the adventure.
Great video Murray, well done as that looked tough going in some places. Some beautiful scenes, can’t wait for the dryer weather so I can get back out there. 😊
Thanks David - there were some tough sections and a lot of pushing the mountain bike but also some delightful parts too (mainly the eating of food at the cafes and restaurants!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Great adventure Murray. Looked very hard. Again great footage and appreciate the time you take to show your travels. Watching from Spain making me long for coming home!
Amazing. Thank you Murray. I would have loved to try this 30 or 40 years ago, in my (so called) prime. Now in my 70s it was lovely to take a vicarious trip like this and see it through your eyes. Enjoyed every minute of it. Again, thank you.
Brilliant video Murray have to admire your stamina as not the easiest way to travel especially the first day. Never thought you'd make it on some of the sections. Rannoch Moor Station I've been to many times and had a lovely meal at the cafe. Especially loved seeing you go through Glen Lyon as it's a wonderful area. Loch Tay and Forest are wonderful area to see but really this whole part of Scotland is my favourite. Many happy memories of wonderful times. ATB Murray.
Thanks Julie, the cycle down Glen Lyon with the sun shining and the free wheeling was very nice (especially after the tracks I had gone over in the prior 24hrs!!lol) Added to that I had a full tummy after a lovely bite to eat at Bridge of Balgie made it even more fun cycling down :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Another brilliant adventure Murray. What a journey. I take my hat off to you for bringing these long journeys. At least you had decent weather considering what it has been like. Take care and stay safe mate. Catch you on the next one.
Mmmmm. venison burger! Honestly mate, I almost enjoy the food/snacks you include in your videos as much as the scenery/adventures/walking! lol Excellent effort with the filming while cycling. Anyway, amazing adventure and amazing effort getting it all filmed and edited.
Fantastic timing when you were talking about the roof of the Corrour roof falling down and your tent roof collapsed at the same time! Great stuff as always-many thanks for a great video. 👍
Just watching the traverse video now, absolutely brilliant who needs ordinary TV. Your just explaining about the bike, really enjoying it. Thanks very much 👍.
A real epic journey, surrounded by snow capped peaks and down glorious glens. The tracks may have been very difficult in places, but the weather was generally very good. Another wonderful video to enjoy and appreciate.
Loved the different style of adventure and seeing parts of the Highlands we mightn't usually see in your regular hiking videos. Would love to see another cycle trip in the future.
We both enjoyed this "feature length" vidio. Thanks for all the work you put into them, much appreciated 👍. A few years ago we walked from Corrour Station back to Spean Bridge 🥵. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure 🎉🚶♂️
Great video. You took a lot of trouble with the photography and it shows. Lovely short drone clips as well. Many years ago I ran from Perth to Fortwilliam in two days. Great weather. Stopped overnight at Loch Rannoch. A five star run.
I enjoyed watching that. I've been looking at doing some bikepacking around Corrour and Loch Lyon so it was interesting to see what the tracks are like in those areas. I whizzed past you on my bike in Glen Almond on Sunday morning as you took a break. I was on my way to climb Beinn na Gainimh, with a much lighter load. I'm hugely impressed with the distance and ascent you did on the first two days (the height of Ben Nevis each day) carrying that enormous load!
Hi - I remember you going by - think it was when I was re fuelling ! I have a video coming in a few weeks from the same hill and bike up Glen Almond from earlier in the winter :) - wasn’t quite so nice weather tho !! lol 😂 Hope you had fun ATB Murray
Brilliant Murray, really enjoyed. Walked up the section from loch Ossian to do the Corbett’s by the bothy and really enjoyed but wasn’t so boggy, looked a bit of a nightmare coming down on the bike. Drove Glen Lyon last year to its end point such a beautiful Glen although think I would prefer a bike to navigate some of the narrow windy sections at the east end. Fully agree about Glen Almound, another wonderful Glen, choose that as a route up onto Auchnafree hill, I guess the one where you had brake issues. Cheers, Paul
The gear needed to make a good video isn’t cheap. I’m amazed you fitted all that equipment and supplies in the few bags. Great video and well done to you. 👍
Murry. What a fabulous adventure. Great video content as always. Inspiring. Good use of the bike. Haven't done much cycling in Scotland, but 'some' 😊' of this route has got me thinking. Thanks again for time and effort in producing your videos.
Super route, Murray and some stunning glens. If you did it again, would you break it down into more days to savour it more? The days looked quite testing, especially the middle one.
Thanks Phil :) glad you enjoyed it - it was a long video - I always worry that no one will watch these because of their length (I sometimes skip long ones TBH) but glad you tuned in :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Superb Murray, I was working up at, what must be, The Newest Corrour Hunting lodge earlier this year. 5 miles or so from Corrour Station IIRC , Great place
Amazing places indeed!!! Already a subscriber...Nice and ecological trip...😎👋👋👋 And the silence must be fantastic, no noise of any kind!!! The Real peace of mind...
What a trip, I'm another who decided to watch on the big TV for the full effect. I love these multi-day treks, even if it wasn't technically "coast to coast" :)
Thanks - yes a bit of a stretch to call it coast to coast!!lol still a fun cycle for the easter weekend:) Wish I had more time to do more longer treks but thats life I suppose :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
