There are a lot of great ferry crossings from island in BC, around Victoria Island for instance, and I suspect in Alaska too. In fact they're part of British Columbia's highway system. But she'd probably go too far and try running Alaska off a ferry to the back of a whale and bouncing up onto a glacier. I've also noticed she has a lot of information under that helmet. She is very mentally acute. I hope it serves her well as she travels north. I worry more about the northern latitudes, especially the US (the people) and remote parts of Canada and Alaska (the environment and critters) than I do about anything in South or Central America.

We all know Noraly will not resist going off paved roads in Mexico, US and Canada. Unlike most of the nations in Latin America that she has ridden through (with the possible exception of the Argentine Patagonia) the distances between towns is greater in those remote areas in the US, Mexico and Canada.

We have Mennonite’s here in Middle Tennessee, USA and they too speak English, use automobiles, etc…. Most also speak what they call Pennsylvania Dutch.

John, yeah, the Mennonites i've come across in mexico and belize are much more like we'd find the Amish in N America. (grew up near Lancaster PA, with a good mixture of Amish and Mennonite)

They call the Mennonites now the Moneynites in Belize 🤣 (because they make a lot of money with the agriculture…)

The Mennonites in the USA are more modern. Where I live in Washington state they drive cars and farm with tractors. The women wear dress just below the knew and a little hair net. Men do not wear the flat brimmed hats but caps. From the video the Mennonites in Belize look like the amish here in the US. The Mennonites here speak English well.

Also note that a number of Mennonites went to Belize a few years ago, when a colony from Sarasota, FL decided to immigrate there.

Supposedly, in Mexico they make up a population of 100.000.

Found this online: Belize used to drive on the left hand side of the road. When US was joined to South America by road the PanAmerican Highway, it was decided that Belize would change so it could be like the rest of the Americas. When Belize changed, all the cars on the road had steering wheels on the wrong side. Talk about crazy. After several weeks of 'practicing' the official change came at midnight on a Saturday night. All clubs, lounges, etc. had to close at 11:30 to make sure there were no 'tipsy' people driving on the road. The fire engines led a parade over the swing bridge from the market side to Paslow side and everyone who wanted to join followed the fire engines. With great fanfare of horns, etc. the parade continued until early morning

Some years ago now in the 1970's there was a rather nasty confrontation between Belize and Guatemala that lead to some British military forces being stationed in the country to guarantee their border. This force included a flight of RAF Harrier jet aircraft which became a firm favourite with the Belize people, they seeing it a defender of their independence. Before the Harriers arrived during a period of high tension with what looked like an invasion force gathering on the border a flight of Buccaneer strike aircraft was launched from HMS Ark Royal to put on a demonstration of force over the threatened area. Fortunately the issue was in the end resolved without any serious fighting.

@@louburnett6782 Whoever wrote that article needs a geography lesson. The US is not connected to South America and the PanAmerican highway does not go to South America, it stops at the Darien gap in Panama (which is on the continent of North America).

Belize has a mixed variety of cultures like Creole, Mestizo, Mennonites Mayan and morethe mennonites also make houses that are taken to a location by a truck and police escorts

There is a community of Mennonites called Spanish Lookout that have accepted technology and have developed a larger advanced agricultural and business community. They speak mainly Low German but are almost all fluent in English

There used to be no homelessness except for those that wanted to roam. The ones with mental illness or drug/alcohol problems were put in taxpayer funded, government run facilities. Do you want to go back to that? Our only immigration issues are not securing our borders and vetting those who want to come here. It was on its way to being solved with the previous administration, but those in control of congress kept roadblocking. In the last year it was all reversed and we are being overrun. What income inequality? That is a myth. The only way you could equate someone's income would be to equate their contribution. I don't know any men who have the same job title that make the same money, yet the feminists say there is no income equality for women. There will never be a same set of beliefs in the US as long as there are liberals and conservatives.

There are several progressive groups of Mennonites in Belize. The ones that use no electricity etc are only selling like watermelons and other small items. The progressive ones have all the modern machinery to dominate rice, chicken and diary production

Technology has made us soft, and totally dependent on the government. We’re no better than caged animals in a zoo, totally dependent on their keepers to stay alive. My mother grew up like a Mennonite, living on a farm with no power no refrigeration and getting water from a rainwater tank. If everything goes belly up the Mennonite people will have the last laugh I reckon.

Look at Afghanistan where the return to a twelfth century lifestyle is being enforced by the Taliban- Will they all be " happy" from now on ? No way ! The strict rules of the cults are often a burden on many of the members to the point that they wish to escape , the " grass is always greener " pattern . Among the strict menno -amish segments there are considerable problems of alcohol abuse and domestic abuse which are kept quiet , or glossed over in hasty observations , They are just as prone to interpersonal squabbles as any other group . There is a steady rate of members wishing to drop out and who do so . , but with a high birth rate the sect is restocking constantly and the membership keeps expanding . With the restricted level of schooling common among the strict old-order cults such drop-outs have a tough go of it in the current techno advanced culture , like no modern technical job skills , which leads to more problems .

English is the official language of Belize and is spoken by 85% of the population. I was surprised, that she was surprised when he spoke to her in English.

I have been wondering for weeks, how she is going to do while crossing the U.S., it will be very interesting to see what routes she chooses. And, where she stays at night. Because unlike the countries in Central America, and also when she was in Africa, I have never seen nice places to stay like that here in the U.S., only over-priced hotels with unfriendly (and sometimes scary) people everywhere. Clearly though, her 300cc bike would not be the best choice for U.S. highways. But of course it's perfect for the riding she's been doing so far.

@@trevorjameson3213 I traveled alone in US on a 1982 Yamaha Seca 650 in the nineties. A very lonely experience and the people I met scared me or where afraid of me. I am hoping Noraly will have a more pleasant trip and maybe show me what I missed. Cost of food and accommodation has kept me away from holidaying in Canada for the last three decades. Lois Pryce travelled on a Yamaha XT 225 across US and Ed March crossed Canada in the winter on a Honda c90. I find it unpleasant to ride my xt225 with a Dodge pickup on my tail who just won't overtake.
