What a nice trip, well worth it. Staying a night in a cabin would have been great. They did a lot of work on the grounds. The Asian elephants are always nice. 🐘🐘👀👍🏻

The tree root system you saw is called a 'Buttressed root system'. This system is found in extremely dense compacted soil and also in nutrient poor soils. Since the tree can't root vertically it spreads horizontally both for nutrients and for support from winds. Good video Tod

We were at a restaurant just north oh Don Kong Island when we saw a ferry crossing the Mekong. It got to the middle and slowly sank. There was big truck on the ferry and the people crawled on top. People on the river bank saw this and jumped in their boats to take the passengers ashore. Everyone was ok. Crazy

I agree with you Todd about the elephants. 2008, we saw one that had all it’s legs chained up with a few feet of slack. They wanted us to buy food for it, but we didn’t want to be part of it. Took all I had not to cry,

Hi Todd,,what a nice day trip! The park was very interesting,,,many plants that I'm clueless about,,but very pretty,,,like the red dress girl with your group,,,very pretty. I could definitely see myself cruising around that park a day or ,,,even 3 if I found a comfortable chair in the shade,,,with the pretty beer Lao girls within a shout. Lol that ferry was used very efficiently. Glad you and Neenee enjoyed yourselves there. Cold here tonight,,about 10f which is about,,,,minus 11 or 12 c. Lol enjoying the covers tonight! Hows the garden coming at home? We are 7 weeks off at least. It appears we are going to have a bone dry,,,drought year again,,,we are very low on mountain snowpack,,,so the rivers will be pretty low. Next time you take that ferry across the river at LP go on foot (Even cheaper ferry price !) then hire a tuk-tuk and visit the beautiful but very neglected temples lined along that opposite bank. All of royal/historical significance. Great views of LP across the river, especially from the top of the hill at Wat Chomphet. Also a cave/buddhist shrine to visit at Wat Sakkalin. The local kids can be asked to get a local to open the gates and provide flash lights to explore (For a very small fee of course).

Hi Todd, I have a ticket coming to Laos this May but I don't have any family in Laos, which means I have to quarantine in the hotel for 7 Days. During the quarantine time in the hotel, can I go out to get my meal or someone will deliver to me? Thank you.

Hi.. if things don't change before hand, you will need to have your food delivered. Going out and buying food is not quarantining... but hopefully things might relax a bit more by then 🤞

You can definitely get your food delivered, you need to install Food Panda and Chompa apps on your phone, set it up to pay in cash. Very easy to use.
