For those you who who feel bad for the mother rabbit, don’t. The truth is that rabbits don’t really get sad when their babies die. Don’t get me wrong, rabbits CAN mourn their dead: in the case of a partner, rabbits can experience grief for several days or even weeks. But babies? They don’t really care all that much. Maybe it’s because they have so many babies that it doesn’t really matter. The length of a rabbit pregnancy is on average 31 days, or one month, and each litter a rabbit gives birth to usually has between 1 to 12 kits, and they can get pregnant up to 7 times in a single year. Couple this with the fact that rabbit can get pregnant by multiple males and carry up to 2 litters at once time, that means that one female rabbit can give birth to up to 168 babies in one year! When you keep that in mind, along with the fact that rabbits aren’t really capable of the same complexity that human emotions have and that they don’t really mourn their dead babies (indeed: often times they will eat them to replace any nutrients lost while giving birth and nursing), it’s not surprising that mother rabbits don’t really care if one of their babies die. She knows she can make more. To her, it’s just another statistic
Some rabbits even attack babies that aren't their's, or eat their own young. (My brother's pet bunny ate some of her own babies.) They aren't as cute and innocent as people think.
Don’t assume you know what rabbits are thinking. That mother tried her best to chase off that crow. Most baby rabbits are killed and eaten by other predators. Few make it out to adulthood and that’s why they have so many babies - to make up for the losses.

It did not miscalculate, it did scare off instead of putting its teeth into the bird or its body over its offspring. The coward bunny was just pretending to defend.
Trader - smart prey who are weaker almost never attack stronger predators who took their offspring - that will mean sure death to them and their genes. By not directly attacking, they live to have more babies and hope for better strategy and luck in the future. The same behavior is done by moose and deer mothers when a Grisley takes their offspring. Same behavior is done by hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs and leopards when lions take their babies.
@@m.o.a.m4179it is neither cruel nor kind: cruel implies an inherent maliciousness. That crow is not behaving out of cruelty. It is a living being and needs to eat just like any other. The only difference is it needs meat instead of plants, and as such it eats other animals. This baby bunny was its prey this time; tomorrow it could be a vole or a squirrel or a chipmunk. We’re all part of the same great circle of nature. Everything is connected. Remember that
This reminds of a Calvin And Hobbes comic strip where Calvin throws a piece of toast with jam on it for Hobbes who catches it and says while he eats it: "I like my food on the run." 🤣🍞
I'm torn looking at this. A little while ago I found out how intelligent Corvid birds, like crows, ravens and parrots are, and I admire them. But I also feel bad for the cute bunnies. I can't decide how I feel about this video.
Crows are higher up on the food chain and infinitely more intelligent than rabbits(crows and ravens are actually among the smartest animals in the world). Rabbits are at the bottom of the food chain, dumb as dirt, and breed like, well, rabbits. Any baby rabbit that doesn’t survive will be replaced tenfold. This is nature.
