I find it so sad that having a car that glides along, has effortless power steering, with an ultra smooth autobox, is something that nobody makes anymore.

Very happy for you. I have had 5 of these cars and love them. Unbelievably safe car and little to no maintenance for hundreds of thousand miles. That car will outlast you. And it triggers ev drivers who dont understand that a car that will last 40 years is far better for the environment than the battery powered garbage that gets thrown away every 7 to 10 years.

Interesting that the DVLA have allocated a GM number plate for a Ford. Reminds me of a story from the former British Motor Corp who always used Birmingham reg plates for all their Demonstrator cars - *OB 123A, etc, so they decided to register some cars in the London area to disguise a new model. The plates came back as BMC 123A!!

The problem with the brakes may not be the caliper, it could be old flex lines in the front that have atrophied, and are allowing brake fluid to move, but not return. The pressure increase can cause the brakes to overheat. Take a look . The Overdrive gearing that drops the RPMs at speed will get you better mileage on an extended journey, Cheers !

That Renault 5 is a rare beast now especially on original wheels. That's the one car I wish I had never sold. ☹️. Glad you have the Vic on the road chief. Great vid as usual squire👍👍

Congratulations Matt on finally getting the Crown Vic on the road. You have to expect the odd teething problem as it blows off the cobwebs but you'll soon sort it out. Looking forward to seeing much more of this fine car.

Great video, Matt. Glad you like the Crown Victoria. On the highway one of these cars without a sticking caliper can be expected to return 28 miles to the Imperial gallon. The funny thing is that is the same or slightly worse than I did in both 78 Thunderbirds (5.8 litre, 3 speed auto box), both 79 Thunderbirds (5.0 litre 3 speed auto box), my 88 Crown Victoria (5.0 litre/AOD) with Trailer Tow III Package, my 88 Grand Marquis (5.0 litre/AOD) and my 92 Crown Victoria with the 4.6 litre and AOD. My 87 Grand Marquis (5.8 litre/Mechanical AOD) did closer to 35 mpg. My 89 Grand Marquis (5.8 litre/AOD/Trailer Tow III Package) achieved 39-40 mpg.

it could be the rubber brake hose that is making the brake bind. they break down inside. the fluid can pass under brake pressure but will not back flow after you release the brake and so the calliper stays under a small amount of pressure.

Great video Matt. The excitement whilst driving was brilliant. Get the brakes and bodywork sorted and fix the radio and you’ll be good to go!!

The sliders will come out. The rubber boots just want a spray with wd40 or similar to soften and lubricate them and then get a small pick or flat screw driver and they will tease off. Then you can clean up and re grease the sliders. I’d recommend this on all the callipers. Your problem could be a collapsed brake hose from inside.

As you mentioned the Rear View Cam: I can highly recommend it, driving in Europe (or UK ..) with narrow streets. I drove a Crown Vic for years in the States, and now have a 2010 California P7B in Germany (with original dark tinted windows in the back). I had a dual-DIN-size Kenwood radio with the rear view cam installed, and it has proven to be quite practical maneuvering in parking lots ;). Note: the double-height US radio does

I like the way you respect your neighbour's bin privacy. Often an overlooked thing in this day and age.......!

Excellent to see the Might Vic on the road! You can't beat the noise of a V8 rear wheel drive motor way basher! would be great to see a video where you're listing what it's like as a daily. Harry Metcalfe (Harry's Garage) done one recently showing how easy it is to live with a Range Rover 'classic' vs. the latest gen, pointing out things like parking spaces issues, how easy it is to navigate around a multi-storey car park etc. With the Crown Vic, I image pro: motorway miles! presence! ride! and cons: Supermarket parking! Picking up a Big Mac ;)

I’m American but in the UK often. I think I saw this car on the M3 recently. I own a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. Best car ever!

Tip for the future if you have to drill a hole in number plates drill from the rear as when you drill from the front you can pull the backing away from the acrylic meaning moisture gets in
