Crowtree Leisure Centre, Sunderland UK, Demolition 

Very sad to see this. I have many great memories associated with Crowtree Leisure Centre. I used to go there a lot.

Worked at Crowtree for a number of years. The footfall of people coming through the doors was up there with the biggest attractions in the Country. The events we ran attracted competitors and spectators from all over the world. There was a lot of history in that building……so sad to see it go!

Depressing watching this went there as a kid.

I was a pupil at Green Terrace Primary School which used to stand next door. I remember Crowtree being built in the 70's and going there for swimming lessons, lots of fond memories over the years. An afternoon's swim with friends, then across the road to Parkers for a bag of chips afterward. All gone sadly.

Sunderland council man !!! Demolished this and replaced it with a large patch of grass ffs.

this is so so sad to see, as a teenager so many of my weekends were spent there, so many happy memories. 10p on the x13 from silksworth into town. it was a fab day out.

Another good decision by Sunderland Council. Just like demolishing the old town hall in Fawcett Street, the multi decade fiasco of the vacant Vaux site and many other gems.

Another wonderfully ingenious idea by a Northeast council, such a shame families have nowhere to go locally anymore, RIP Northeast

I remember as a kid watching it getting built then all them years later watching it get demolished,what a shambles of a council we have.

Sunderland town centre no longer exists. Sit back and watch the obliteration of a town by the Left-wing comrades in the council.

Who decides what we should build and what we should demolish. We have lost some great buildings, the townhall, the grand hotel, the north end of the station, pubs, department stores all with architectural merit. Then we have the civic centre an eyesore from the very start, it looked like a prison block ( designed by Sir Basil Spence ).
