Hey everyone. This is a follow up video to the Samsung CRT RGB Mod & restoration. Unfortunately there will need to be a follow up to this video. Thanks for watching.

It looks hard to solder and record yourself close up at the same time. Good job, really enjoying the tv repair videos.

Thanks, it's not too easy to film and solder.

my screen isn't a white line, it's just a very very squished imaged. same issue?

Hi Steve I have a CRT Sony KV-25xbr, all of sudden the the image disappeared but still places the sound in the background, comes in but no image.. Wondering if it might be caps responsible for the image or flyback

I doubt doubt your experience but personally I’d look at the signals round the vertical chip and go from there. Maybe check the deflection coil itself isn’t open (as seen from the vertical chip) or something

Your set is a bit newer than most of the ones I have worked on (80s), but do you have a service switch on your neck board (or elsewhere)? Activating the switch intentionally collapses the vertical deflection so you can do gray scale adjustment with bias and gain controls on the neck board. Once you complete calibration, you switch back to normal operating mode and vertical comes back. In this case, it is entirely possible that your circuit voltages for vertical deflection are just fine but the set is in service mode. Since you have a schematic, it should also provide voltage checkpoints from chip output to the vertical IC that you can verify. And of course, you can also verify that the output after the Vertical IC is getting all the way up to the deflection yoke area. Thanks for all the videos, Steve. Good luck.

Thanks, I just got it fixed today, Turns out it was a resistor that broke.

@@RetroTechUSA I have this problem after a recap, my tv didn´t have this problem febore the recap, all solders and new caps are fine, where in the board you fund the bad resistor?

@@ChengGaos I see this was 2 years ago, but I wonder if you managed to fix this. I have the same issue after recap. Did you manage to solve it?

3 years later and this tip saved mine! After a recap I had inadvertently hit the service switch, which had three positions and is on the main board itself. Getting closer to a working set again! Thank you.

He said it's been fixed. According to the comments below, a broken resistor was the cause.

You probably have a bad transistor. You can check them with a multimeter.

Thanks, that's possible, but the signal for the Vertical Amp goes through the Jungle IC on this TV too. I don't see any transistors on that Vertical Amp path on the schematic, but this is a particularly painful schematic to work through. I'll keep at it for the 2nd video. Thankfully I found a new Jungle chip for $10 shipped for this TV.

Thanks a bunch PhilExile. I found a bad resistor. I'll be giving you a shotout on the repair video for the troublshooting help. Thanks again!

Have checked any resistors and maybe transistors in the circuit. Also the yoke itself.

3:54 You can get cheaper manual desoldering vacuum pumps though maybe not good for the job your doing. (EDIT) You could probably use a manual pump, but it would take longer. I dunno, I'm not an Elite Soldering expert. Other than that, pretty satisfying video to watch. I hope you can fully restore this beautiful 📺.
