The whole concept of 'Free race for first place' still gets me every time. The most satisfying thing in the world is when you get another couple of games on their dime due to pure skill
They had this as an option in the FnF arcade games (you know, the shit ones that were still better than crossroads), they were made by the same guy, and the full cruise option returned as the Drift Tour in FnF Drift, and Cruis'n Blast doesn't have any of that, but it's coming to Nintendo Switch in 28 days from now so I hope that goes better than the FnF port for the Wii (Cruis'n Wii... *Pukes*)
This game was one of my favorites during my childhood I used to go to a pizza restaurant and a bowling alley and they both had this game it was always a must for me to play this game.
Played this arcade and Cruis'n World in Texas in late 1996, when I was growing up. The last time I was played this was at a movie theater several years ago. From Gabriel.
I disagree. This is great nostalgia, but I don't think these Cruisin' games really stand the test of time. Now San Francisco Rush, that's another story altogether.
I played Cruis’n World a lot when I was a young kid in 2003-05 ish there were still a lot of racing 90s era racing games at some arcades. I particularly remember playing it at a restaurant called Chuck’s. Anyone who lived in DFW in the 90s and 00s remember Chuck’s???
Chuck’s all American food and fun it was a burger restaurant, the few locations we went to all had arcades in them. On a side note I have fond memories of playing California Speed and some sort of Sega racing game with a giant rear projection screen at our Chuck E. Cheese’s
10:17 i remember playing this game a few times in arcade back in the day but i never realized you could plow through animals and they explode into meat chunks! I thought only carmageddon did that.
Gaming Palooza Empire i used to do that a lot as a kid and laugh my socks off! You could also do the same on Cruis n' USA and Cruis n' Exotica as well; on USA you had a deer I think and on Exotica (wait for it)... dinosaurs!

Midway & Williams were so on fire back in the mid 90's in arcade games. NBA Jam Tournament Edition, WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game, Cruis'n USA, Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey, NBA Hangtime, Cruis'n World, Hydro Thunder, NBA on NBC Showtime all came out in like a 4 year burst, awesome times at the arcade those were the games I always loved most, have console versions of them all. Why they always got bad reviews I dont know. I wish the n64 version of Cruis'n World kept the same menus as the arcade.
Played this arcade and Crusin USA at a Putt Putt back in the 90's. What great memories. The N64 ports were good. Wish this game and Crusin USA would be ported over to the PS3,PS4 and Microsoft consoles.
Why the developers added a ridiculous collision physics in N64 version? In arcade, you can touch the opponents without spin or lose much speed, in N64 version, you need to avoid touch everyone.
i'm not sure if it's the same thing in the Arcade, but in the N64 you could avoid collisions with other cars by wheelieing just before you crash; you'd jump over the other cars instead. that could help a lot avoiding all those pileups. btw, i didn't believe it before, but the N64 port really is near-Arcade-perfect, even in the details. damn.
And here comes a Raw Thrills version,little poor but so inovative and the best against this here,due to the much collisions and badly limited time,was better invest in a Dead Heat game format
I played this game in an arcade in Poços de Caldas, Brazil. There are some arcades in brazil You can still found this arcade. I played it yesterday and i used to play when i was a child. This game is excelent
I have a second arcade1up around without a riser and my subconscious has been telling me to make a hydro thunder/cruisin world arcade monster. I’ve never seen it done though, and I’m not a tech wizard, lmao
This game not is designed for the kids. Was only a stupid idea of Nintendo for sell it also to them, for gain more $. And the technical weaknesses of the Nintendo 64 did the rest. If this game was released on the Play station was released unfiltered, a bit less censored (or all uncensored, in the Play station were also released porno games, not was a console exclusively for kids) with clean musics and race announces and without lags, but unfortunately was released for Nintendo console...
I swear, I remember playing this so many years ago! It was only one time, and I was pretty little, but somehow I wound up playing this in front of most of my family. At first, I was just playing with the steering wheel, then I am pretty sure my uncle sneaked in a quarter so that I could show off for everyone. XD It's a good thing I didn't suck!

i just noticed this, FnF Arcade games actually mimics the features in this game. like the side and rear wheelies, turbo boosts, sexy ladies as start cue, etc
ah now it explains everything. :D not to mention, cruis'n blast is coming out too, and it definitely used an improved engine of the past FnF Games too i guess.
If World had only the censorship of the ending and animals (that not is absolute, if you watch my video) without the errors that I've mentioned first IMHO would have been the best porting, almost perfect. But it isn't so, then the best porting IMHO is USA. Is only censored but faithful, the gamplay is the original and perhaps there is a way to uncensor it, perhaps.

I think you can avoid collisions if you double tap gas, your car will rise and cars spinning would serve as a ramp, I mean I did that in the 64 version, don't know if it works in arcade.
Makes sense. I was just a bit confused, because the cars and roads look 3D, yet the landmarks look like 2D sprites. It's probably a bit of both, I guess.
