Meet Benedicto Mbewe. You may remember him from those days when he used to host a musical television show om Television Malawi called Zamakolo. What you may not have known is that the young man has been busy in the background working and campaigning for the Democratic Progressive Party and he now feels he is ready to lead the party and eventually become president of Malawi.
Benedicto is a devout member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church although he now says the church kicked him out for disagreeing with elders of the church on their management of other church doctrines and affairs.
He does not shy away from controversy, mostly driven by his religious beliefs. He believes all religions that worship on Sunday are heathen, and that sporting activities are sinful before God. He has no kind words for people who promote family planning among the Youth. He says if elected President of Malawi he will rule for three years and hand over power to his vice, who, if all goes according to his plan will be Atupele Muluzi.
