As a cruiser for the last 9 years and having done 20 or so cruises, these were some great tips. One I would have added is never be late back to the ship. They will leave without you.

Personally, catching a bus from Carlisle at 2:30am and having a 10h journey is part of the holiday for me and I enjoy it 😂

On boarding day the main restuarants are usually open for lunch etc and no dress code then either. so much quieter and better on the initial day

I'm so happy you and Anna liked cruising and have booked another. You've made the best choice by taking a short "tester" and seeing how you went. We did that too and it's led to a love of cruising ever since. Great tips and we would have loved to had any number of them before our first trip. We were lucky in that the cheaper, starter, options here in Australia are the P&O ships which are not large so you don't get overwhelmed. I will reiterate from a previous post that I think you and Anna will find it a lot easier if you can get yourself (even hire) a portable CPAP each. You keep the same head gear and mask from your main machine but it's just so much easier to carry around and you don't need to have it plugged in to a powerpoint while you're using it. It will also help you outside of cruising with your travel to see your FM managed teams playing.

If you want to request something from your cabin steward and dont see them Write it down using the notepaper in your cabin with your request. so when they go to sort your cabin it gets sorted

Please don’t forget to book Anna assistance getting on the ship and getting off the ship it will be so much easier for her and you good luck we go on our first cruise on Sunday 17th March 🛳️🛳️

Also if you book a cruise on board with loads of extra goodies you can link it to your usual travel agents as well onboard. i have done that many a time.

I have started an engineering apprenticeship with carnival uk who own P&O and cunard and I will be going to sea for the first time in October, hope you see you and Anna onboard one day

if you are doing a northern lights cruise with P&O then usually a 12 night cruise on one of their older vessels but at the same time thats a great itineary to book. one i want to do myself.

Drinks package, wifi and excursions are all available to book via myp&o - the website also is the place to print luggage tags, and add all info that p&o require prior to travel ie passport details and insurance information. As a rule the older ships are freedom dining so when dining rooms are concerned you turn up and wait

We booked the wifi, saw the excursions, tags, etc. But there 100% was no way to book a drinks package on there.

On a 4 night cruise you don’t have drink package- only offered on 5+ nights

honestly i always buy a set of big bottles/case of water and then put it in the fridge saves so much.

Travel agents and companies can get better deals etc for you when cruising for a variety of reasons than booking direct. also if god forbid anything went wrong going through a travel agent is a big help. I normally use ROL cruise or Travel Counsellors. ROL usually have partnerships and great deals from cruise lines so a lot cheaper. Travel Counsellors you get a personal travel agent which is a massive help. Travel agents also get discounted or media cruises themselves so theyve nornally experienced the cruises you want to go on and can really help.

Kevin and Anna, you can fill your water bottles but you have to use a glass or cup to fill your bottles. You just cant fill your bottles directly due to health rules.

Absolutely enjoyed the vids, I do get travel sick really bad, even got sea sick just watching when you were at sea. So cruising isn’t really for me

If you had gone to the restaurant manager he’d have moved you to another table or you could have used the virtual queue. Never be afraid to ask someone if you need help or for a change. They always do their best to accommodate And there is definitely an option to add a drinks package on the website. You also get 10% off of you book before you board

There definitely wasn’t the option. I looked at every section of it. And I’m not going to talk to a human unless it’s absolutely vital to my survival!

There wasn't the option because on cruises 5 days or less they don't offer drinks packages :)

@@richardparmenter188 it's alright you was correct on the restaurant sitting options though as they pretty much always put you on a shared table, go to the restaurant on first evening and maitre d or restaurant manager will be sat there waiting to change anyones dining such as changing from early to late sitting or to accommodate smaller or larger table

Thank you for the tips, just about to go on a 14 day cruise on Ventura to Spain & Portugal. When going do we pack the soft drinks and alcolhol in our cases or do we have to carry it onboard?

That was brilliant, thank you. I've been so tempted to book a cruise myself. So I've got a question, my mobility is bad, but not bad enough for a wheelchair. Could I get around the ship? I've been to the Caribbean and would love to cruise there. Also, I'm looking forward to more vlogs .

Some good tips, id caveat that these are specific to your cruise line others will be stricer and wont allow you to dine without a collar etc or let you bring on alcohol. just research your own line.

There were plenty of kids on our cruise, and they have kids clubs, pools etc on the ship, so I would say so.

Firstly - if it’s an early flight, I usually do! And secondly, airports have lounges and shops and things to do and places to wait that cruise terminals don’t have.

You can get on the ship at any time. Boarding time doesn’t mean anything

They made a big deal about boarding times on the website beforehand and at the terminal on the day.

Agree to this everyone ignores their boarding times. Once we were the 1st ones on at 1145 for one cruise haha

It does depend on the cruise (I think the bigger ships are more stringent) but the P&O cruise we went on last year had 2 queues for boarding, one for the people who turned up at their allocated times which went pretty much straight into the terminal, and one which snaked the long way round which was full of people who had turned up early. But if you need it assisted boarding is always the way to go.

We’ve been on one cruise, and it cost less than £1000. Plus, content creation is our job, so we need to travel to be able to make content for this travel channel!
