We got charged at Dufry in Roatan for false purchases. Lesson learned do not let sales people walk off with your card to run your card. Thank goodness we used Discover and had no problem straightening things out. They also mentioned Dufrys is a red flag.

I don't cruise (yet, my wife is trying to convince me😁). Whenever we travel, I dedicate one credit card to that task, leave the rest at home or put it in a different location (so if your wallet or (purse) gets stolen, you have a backup. I also inform the credit card companies of my travel plans and have them put a single purchase ceiling of $1000...decline higher unless I contact them and preauthorize.

NEVER thought I'd say this but I'm not cruising in the near future. Just too many changes and too much crap going on. IMO it's about time the cruise lines built some mid sized ships for those of us who don't care for a floating amusement park.

When I was i Portugal recently I was walking by a demo project on an old building and there were broken pieces of that gorgeous glass tile that so many of the old buildings have in Portugual just laying around the dumpsters. I gathered up a handful of the light green glass tiles (looks like sea glass!) and I put stuff like that in a little bowl when I get back from my trip. I havea little bowl of fossilized shark's teeth from a beach in Venice, Florida known for the petrified sharks teeth. Items like these are much more meaningful to remember a trip.
@Msfeathers7

@vooo1314
@vooo1314 Месяц назад
@@Msfeathers7 Yeah, the shark's teeth for the most part are tiny and they are jet black. After hurricanes some people find those huge 4-5 inch teeth of an extinct ancient shark. The jet black fossilized finds also includes parts of rays, I think the mouth for some reason If you want to know more about it, look up Caspersen Beach in Venice, Florida, the 'shark's tooth capital of the world'.

A lot of passengers pre-book excursions from third party companies for cruise ports before they leave the U.S. With NCL changing the itinerary, a lot of people may not get a refund from the company if the ports and/or days change. Maybe NCL is trying to corner the excursion market because passengers that book thru NCL would get a refund when there are changes.

You guys have to realize that a sea day is when the cruise ship makes its most money by far - I know - so when they cut ports and switch to sea day they do it because they need to hit quotas and don't care what passengers think because all this is laid out in the documents you sign - unless you people aka customers put your food down this will never stop for any cruise line
@madchatteress
@madchatteress Месяц назад
Makes sense. I've been fortunate that I never had any cancelled ports. I hope the other cruise lines don't start adopting NCL's questionable strategy for increasing their profits. Good thing I'm taking a break from cruising this year but definitely keeping my eye on this.

I said this on another channel but NCL has been my favorite cruise line but I’m grateful I don’t have unwavering loyalty to them because their recent changes have been disconcerting, from them slashing salaries to housekeeping to switching up their highly rated Broadway type shows with game shows. And they hero using this excuse of guest feedback, the environment, and fuel optimization. I understand a cruise line can readjust an itinerary, but NCL is getting notions, especially when they change for no logical reason except guess feedback or fuel optimization. At this rate, I don’t know how anyone can book thinking they are even going to come close to getting the cruise they want when Norwegian is getting so notorious. I will be sailing on the Aqua in early 2026, but I’m seriously wondering if It will be my last time on a NCL Ship. The industry is too vast and has ships for all tastes. NCL is sadly slipping to the bottom.

I took the May 6-17th NCL cruise from Barcelona to Souhhampton and they had changed 2 ports on the itinerary. They changed it before we sailed but several people on my cruise were upset about it. I know stuff happens but I also think some ports are more expensive than others to dock and more than one of our stops was really far away from the typical tourist centers. Sure, you can get the free shuttle from the ship to the cruise port, but some of those were over 20 minutes on the bus to give you some idea of how far the boat was out in the boondocks. It is bad faith to put a desireable stop on the itinerary and sell cruises based on that itinerary an then yank it away after cruise fares have been paid. The only adjustment I saw was a $9 credit on my bill for the refunded port fee for a cancelled stop. They turned that into an extra sea day which made the complete lack of onboard entertainment or activites all the more noticeable.

Chase was within the company’s rights in declining to void that $10,000 transaction, since the couple in question signed for the purchase on a receipt that said all sales are final. Why should Chase and the credit card’s other customers foot the bill for people getting drunk enough to be that careless? The scamming store staff didn’t force those drinks down the couple’s throats. If you’re being pressured to inhale booze and spend big bucks, it’s time to leave the store, period.

My first cruise was on the Norwegian Spirit. The Spirit is an old ship and second hand to the Norwegian fleet. In itself not a problem. The itinerary was exactly what I wanted. Norwegian does a very good job of shepherding excursions but otherwise uninspiring. I'm now all in with Royal Caribbean. Prospecting for what will be my 7th RC cruise. Most like on Harmony OTS.

A - usually a gift for someone else or a magnet. Or Feb. ‘25 cruise was supposed to stop in Labadee but has been changed to Turks and Caicos. Better makes for certain the ammo is out of the backpack!!😝😝 I’m so happy that young man got to go home to his family.

We collect the knockoff color changing tshirts from the Caribbean. 1/3 the price of Del Sol and they last 10X longer. Little tip. If you’re in Cozumel, skip the shops and go to the Megastore. It has everything the touristy area has for a fraction of the price.

A. I like to buy refrigerator magnets from the different ports visited. They are usually pretty small, fairly inexpensive ($3-$7), and many are very unique to the ports they come from. Needless to say, after 20 cruises, my frig is loaded with magnets 😁. (I also like to buy holiday ornaments from the ships I'm sailing on....preferably with the ship's name on them.)

B - When I started cruising, I bought jewelry on the ship and in port. Now, my husband and I don’t see anything we can’t live without. In port we do excursions, purchase food if needed and leave good tips. I buy a few cruise photos as souvenirs. Maybe it’s our age. 😂

Was on the Wonder last week.. A stop in Costa Maya one of the onshore venders near the big pool was trying to pull a fast one . Had a bag ..took it up to counter and paid 25 cash US. He gave me the receipt and then was yelling at me saying the 5 dollar bill was dirty money. He wanted my ship card to charge with. I said nope.. either take the 5 or take the 3 one dollar bills I had. He argued for another 4 or 5 min.. I said just give me back my 20 and here's the bag.. He sez.. No Returns gringo.. Said then I am leaving.. Take the 3 or the five.. After a few.. he grabbed the 5.. What an ASS.. I figure he was going to do something with the ship card. Also while in Honduras.. Diamond Center tried to sell us a something for 2800 bux.. then came down to 24..then 2000.. As I was walking out he came hunting me down ad said 1000.. Told him it wasn't even worth 400 bucks.. He started some Honduran Karen trash talk.. AND the cigar place was pushing Fake Cuban Cohiba. The holographic image of the Taino Indian head didn't have the smaller head in it.. What crooks.. And we just let as many as 20 million in this country..
