The Taits have such a cheery whistle in comparison to Victoria's modern fleet (exception for comeng.) Such a beautiful and well appointed train!

So lovely to see the a red rattler so lovingly preserved. My parents hated them but they were still around when I was very little, albeit replaced mostly with the Hitachis if i remember correctly. Incidentally, those tram/train crossings are fascinating in themselves - happy to see you already did a video on this too, I need to start watching your entire back-catalogue now :)

Really nice to meet you in person after talking online for twenty years, Martin! This trip was a really good way to spend a few hours, I’m already wondering when I’ll be able to sink into those seats once again and enjoy the growl of the traction motors and the drum of the compressor as we rocket through the suburbs! You’re absolutely correct in defining the Tait as the best train in the world! I was pretty happy to see a quick glimpse of my group in the corner at 3:45, with your brilliant contrast of the Edwardian interior and the new Skyrail; nicely done. Looking forward to continuing the conversation next time, cheers.

Hey, that's me at 4:59, in the green Met jacket opening the door to get into the train! Excellent footage mate, it was a lovely trip. I've never ridden the Tait train before and it was a testament to the work of the Clarks. I'd heard all about the old Suburban Rambler tours of Steamrail back in the early 2000s but never had a chance to do a tour this large and this substantial! Will you be riding the DERM in August? I've never done that one before so I'm jumping on that ASAP.
@Taitset

Awesome! Hopefully they'll do more tours like this. Not 100% if I'll be on the DERM tour yet, but I certainly might - it's been ages since it's been out and about!

@@TaitsetI would especially be interested in filming some train arrivals/departures in some of the new stations like the skyrail ones and the trenched stations (I believe they are on the Sandringham line). Will check out that video, thanks.
@Taitset
@Taitset Год назад
@@Dallasgeri1 The only one on the Sandringham line is Elsternwick, which was done a few decades ago. The most impressive skyrail stations are the ones just beyond Caulfield on the Pakenham/Cranbourne lines. Carnegie Murrumbeena and Hughesdale are all quite good, then you go out to Springvale which is a trench station. That line is good too because you get the V/line Gippsland line trains as well.
