Sailing on the ebb tide to get the most out of the current, we head for our next anchorage at Portage Bay in glassy flat water. Whales and sea lions harass the fishing fleet.

We don't mind answering that in general terms. We have no recurring bills to manage and our income is direct deposited. When we arrive in port we use debit cards to extract cash as needed. Diesel fuel in Sitka was $3.85 per gallon compared to $5.20 in Hawaii

Absolutely gorgeous scenery! Thanks again for sharing. Coming from a powerboat background I can see where sailing requires patience & planning. I loved the shots of the wildlife. Could see the blow spouts of the wales in the distance. Beautiful!

Good to see you both and your videos. I used to live and work in Petersberg along with my brother back in the late 60's Early 70's.. Sure miss it but not the rain. Be safe and enjoy!

With the roller reefing main, if a vang is needed it has to be attached at the end of the boom and led outboard and forward. When the sail is furled, the vang and main sheet (Identical tackles) are led to the bales on either side of the stern rail to secure the boom. That is what you are seeing in this video. When sailing on the wind with the vang not in use, it is clipped to the bales on both sides.

I'm 6'5" and I can't stand straight while down in the boat but I love my little boat. It's pretty comfortable. Much of the time, You'll be laying down or sitting much of the time anyway. Good luck finding your boat.

Hey Chuck, Are you sure those Humpbacks are taking fish from the fishermen up there? I've fished around Humpbacks regularly in Central California for over 40 years, and have never had a problem with them "taking fish". They are after the krill here, and give away the location of salmon and other fish for ME to exploit! I haven't had a fish "taken: by one. Those sealions on the otherhand.......................we call them "furbags" for good reason. Love the videos!

We never fly the yacht signal. No, we have never been close enough to any one who would return the salute.

It's shame you haven't been able to take a hick around those wonderful anchorages.

Hi. Love watching your videos. I've noticed you guys have two mainsheets. Can you tell me what the function of that is? Fair winds! From a fellow Vega sailor in Norway.

Me and my wife are looking at buying a boat after watching all of your videos, which we enjoyed a lot. We are wanting to coastal cruise down the west coast then around Thailand and Vietnam. My problem is I am 6'4. Should I take up skiing instead?

I was trying to get a look at your ensign. Are you flying a national flag or a yacht ensign? Have you ever encountered a dipping (salute) situation?
