In this video we leave from Cleveland, just south of Brisbane and head across Moreton Bay to Tangalooma Wrecks just off Moreton Island. After that we duck into Mooloolaba for a few nights before crossing the Wide Bay bar into Tin Can Bay.

I remember as a young fella, in 1966, a mate of my dad was spearfishing near Tangalooma and was chased out of the water by a great white shark. It was bigger than our 17’ boat. They were still hanging around after the closure of the whaling station in 1962. I don’t recall if any of the wrecks had been sunk by that time.

Stu. Another fantastic effort that I thoroughly enjoyed watching. I’ve really been looking forward to this part of your passage and it hasn’t disappointed. The detailed, well planned, considered and executed entrances and exits of various ports with an emphasis on safety is so worthwhile to watch and learn from particularly with the maps, camera and live footage. Thanks so much.

That cloud is called a "Roll Cloud" Stu - they can stretch for kilometres as one mass of air moves in over another, usually a cold front comes in over warm moist air. The warm moist air gets pushed up, creates condensation, and "rolls". Typical in a Southerly Buster around our way (I'm a wavesailor from the Central Coast). Glider Pilots can use the updraft to surf the cloud for a hundred kilometres plus.

Another great vid Stu. We get to see the beauty of our own area. The Widebay bar can be quite tricky so glad you were okay. Anyhow enjoy the rest of your trip and have a good time in Bundy. They tell me the Rum is good any time of year.

Rust provides the de oxygenated environment that Clostridium tetani thrives in. When combined with organic material such as soil, rust provides an ideal location for the bacterium, which is why there is an association between rust and tetanus in popular culture. On the other hand, it is highly unlikely that Clostridium tetani is going to survive in a heavily oxygenated and chlorinated environment such as a rusty ship.

Are you going to do a video discussing the pro's and con's of a boat this size for a trip like this and more? As a non-boat-owner view I can't help wonder if you ever think you wish you'd got something a bit bigger?
@DangarMarine
@DangarMarine 3 года назад
I will talk a bit more about it soon. This boat is ultimately going to be a work boat around the river so it is only ever really going to do this one long cruise. You would definitely want a bigger boat if you were going to do this type of thing more often.
