"It does not have to be perfect" - Proceeds to make something that looks BETTER than the $5 cookie I can't buy. And then you took them to the food pantry!! ❤❤❤❤
@@nohemichaidez4633 I always melt it because it mimics the oil texture. I bet room temp would work too. I'll try that next time. There are so many flavors you can make and add ins you can use. Chocolate chips, coconut, marchino cherries, white chocolate chips, nuts, butterscotch chips, fruits, peanut butter, sprinkles to make bday cake cookies. The list is endless. Sometimes if I'm in a hurry I make pan cookies in a 13 x 9 and cut them in bars/ squares. Also you can use the icing like German chocolate , lemon with lemon cookies ECT. Let you taste buds decide.😀
I've been making cake mix cookies for decades: cake mix ,1/2 c oil ,2 eggs 350° 9-11 minutes. Brownie mix cookies: 18 oz brownie mix,2 eggs 1/4 c flour, 1/4 c oil 1tsp vanilla Roll dough into balls 375° for 10 min, cool on pan 10 min remove to cooling rack
I've made these for years... All sizes... Giant cookies for Christmas mornings or birthdays were always a hit. My favorite combo is to use a butter cake mix add chopped pecans 1egg 1/2 cup of oil... Tastes like pecan sandies.
"Couple of setbacks, but nothing we can't handle" is going to be my new motto. Seriously, that was my biggest takeaway from this video. What a resilient spirit you have.
Loved this video! I also liked how you showed the ones that didn't turn out as well. Can this be a regular series where you recreate expensive items using Dollar tree ingredients? Sprinkles cupcakes or those fancy crepe cake places
The brownie cookie failed because the sugar to flour ratio in brownies is much different than a cake or cookie mix. Brownies have much more sugar. Also the Imperial margarine is high water content. There was not enough flour in the brownie mix to even it out. If I want a brownie type cookie, I use a triple chocolate cake mix. I also prefer the Duncan Hines Cake Mix Cookie recipe. It is normally on the box.
I made the Carmel Apple cookies and the s'mores cookies yesterday. Wow, they both turned out absolutely amazing. The only change I made was using real butter, I can't handle margarine. Everything else was from Dollar Tree. My family was so impressed and my grands said they were better than Crumble. Big bonus is that they were so easy to make, but looked so impressive.
Love how you include the fails. Not every recipe idea will turn out Pinterest worthy. We truly appreciate your effort. The other cookies look amazing! Never had a Crumble cookie (not in my budget).
Thank you for these recipes!! I made all 4 and took them in to work to share with my coworkers today and they went nuts for them! Everyone was thanking me for the cookies and one guy who missed the memo that I had made them, asked, "You brought the Crumbl cookies?" And I said, "No, I made them!" and he was shocked. They were a hit! Thank you so much! Love your recipes!!!
Haven't made cookies out of cake mix in a very long time, but I seem to remember we always threw in a packet of pudding mix to make them turn out better.
or crumble them up to put on another invention. i could see the peanut butter with crumbles of fail on top with a little less reeses . i'm big on peanut butter and chocolate anything
I've made a cranberry orange cookie from a white box cake mix. I love cranberry orange muffins and was so sad when Starbucks stopped carrying the cranberry orange scone. It came out so good.
These look so much prettier AND better than Crumbl! I’m not a fan of their cookies so I think yours will be much, much better (and it’s homemade - yay!)
Rebecca, I've never had a Crumbl cookie, but those looked so delicious. I worked in my college bakery & I had to get up at 3:15 a.m. to go to work, then go to classes afterward. I did that for 4 yrs. It's not for the faint of heart. 😊
Definitely not I could imagine, it sounds like such a cozy job from the outside looking in, I mean who wouldn’t want to make cakes and cookies and pastries until you realize what’s actually involved in that haha
Love this. For the S’mores cookie I think I’d use marshmallow fluff…my DT usually has it. Frost and broil. I was the same with opening a bakery…until I learned of the hours!
U just go to bed at start of evening So u lose ur evenings as a family, which is horrible if u have kids-unless u homeschool and have them come over to the bakery after their (early) breakfast U do gain ur days to run all around as ur out btwn 9am & noon - unless ur the owner lol
Great job! Crumbl cookies are definitely a rare treat both due to cost and calories (about 800 calories per cookie!). This looks like it would be fun to try at home!
It was fun to watch you make these cookies! Your toothpaste commercial smile was never brighter! I had a good laugh too, especially when the brownie cookies didn't turn out. Your face said "cow pie," but the look in your eyes said "be professional, remember the FCC rules." You made me feel as if I could make these and have the same results as well. I'm inspired! Hope you and yours are having a great Labor Day!
You did a great job! I tried doing the same thing with the lemon drop cookies from Panera. I used the sugar cookie mix. lemon flavoring and added white chocolate chips. I agree with you, this is a great kitchen journey!!
Lemon cookies with white choc chips are my fave..I posted my recipe above using a lemon cake mix..I may try yours with the cookie mix. If you'd like my recipe and can't find it in the comments, reply to me a I'll post it directly to you.
Some of my neighbors helped me with some work around the house last week. I think I will make up some of these and pass them out. I'm quite certain they will love them!
I love your enthusiasm for trying to copycat on a budget. I am a fan of crumbl cookies, but they often don’t have a flavor I want on that particular day, like the Reese’s one. I’m excited to try these! Crumbl also sells an expensive little device to cut the cookie into 4, because really, it’s too much to eat that much cookie, and we all know no one has a knife to do this themselves 🤦♀️. I’m definitely trying these! Thank you!
Great job!! You could have mixed a little powdered sugar with the peanut butter for the topping on the Reese’s cookie.. it makes a great frosting and adds more fluff! 😊 Enjoy your videos!
Thank you for including the misses as well as the wins. I'm always thinking of experiments like this because we are a sugar free household and there are only a few sugar free baking mixes at the local stores around me. My next experiment will be one of the diet coke and cake mix ones and I can't wait to see if it works.
It was so busy when I went yesterday that I didn’t want to be in the way, plus I always feel kind of strange asking if I can record people so I just dropped them off
I'm happy to see you enjoying yourself and smiling that beautiful smile. A baking fail here and there is just a part of the process. Loved this fun video. So sweet of you to donate the cookies. Hugs! ♥
I am elated to find your channel. It was really endearing that you purposely bought the broken pie crust. Reducing food waste while making amazing budget food ❤❤❤
I would break those messed up brownie cookies into pieces, add some vanilla pudding, whipped cream, bananas, pecans, mix up and serve in bowls as desserts. Love your ideas. I have a cookbook you might like. It is:The Ultimate Shortcut Cookie Book by Camilla V. Saulsbury. Recipes using cake and other mixes. Thanks because you helped me remember I had this.
I used to make something similar - ‘Death by Chocolate Trifle’. It’s really simple; brownie pieces, instant chocolate pudding, cool whip and some crushed Heath bars. Just layer the brownie bits, pudding, cool whip (or whipped cream, but CW is more stable) and the toffee bits. Looks impressive in a glass bowl.
Your channel reminds me of Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee on the Food Network. I don't mean this as insult because I know you put so much work and thought into what you're doing and all independently. But it's the whole concept of maximizing limitations. I just would watch that show as a kid and then when I was on my own as an adult it was utilizing those ideas and being creative in order to eat well without much money. And my god, the way you give back to your community with going to the food pantry and by recognizing people have limitations in terms of equipment to cook. You really are an angel.
I made dollar tree cookies to gift for mothers day this year and i found that the cookies were so delicious. I definitely didnt have this video though, this wouldve been even better 😂🎉
Southern living online has an article called "Cornstarch Is The Secret To Soft And Chewy" I bet this addition would be amazing. I can't wait to try it myself!
What a fun video. I definitely like the Carmel apple cookie. I wanna try that. I also wants to try making cookies with those dry mixes and a can of pumpkin puree. Supposedly you can mix those two ingredients together and make cookies and muffins.
Fantastic experiment! I’d say it was actually a success, considering what you learned! I’m so impressed. Also, I’m happy you donated to the food pantry! Maybe you could could make a brownie, pudding, cool whip type trifle with the failed brownie? All in all, kudos to you and thanks for sharing 👏👏👏🥰
I am turning into such a huge fan of yours. I think this video was my favorite video so far. Great job. Those cookies visually turned out amazing. I dont know how they taste though. Ha Ha. I love your humanity and when things dont go as planned, you still include them in the video. Keep up the great work. I also love when your fur baby sneaks in the video too.
Madilyn here, I have bought 2 Crumbl cookies. They were delicious, but would not buy them again, too much money. I am going to try some of these cookies as I kept the box and would like to share cookies with my friends in the boxes and see if they can tell the difference. You did a great job and they certainly looked like crumbl cookies. Thanks for paving the way for us with the good and the not so good cookies. I will definitely try the ones you did that were successful. Great job.
I made the Apple Caramel cookies for a group meeting and they were such a huge hit. Thank you so much for the idea! I had enough of the frosting and freeze dried apples left to make apple crunch cinnamon rolls and the family adored those too.
Cake mix cookies: 1/3 cup oil, 2 eggs & cake mix. Roll into 1 inch balls . Bake 375 for 8 minutes. Can add nuts, fruits, chips etc. They spread so don’t over crowd the pan.😊
What a great idea!! they look sooooooo good. Now that everyone is gonna know how to make them and can make them cheaper, no one has to pay rediculous price for a cookie!
my local DT didn't have the apple muffin mix but I used a box of apple cinnamon mix I found at Aldi's and added a bit of apple sauce... and they were yummy. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to trying the others!
RU-vids algorithm sent you to me and this is a great video! It took me a long time in cooking to learn that it doesn't need to be perfect and that is a wonderful thing to tell everyone. I'll definitely watch some more of your Dollar Tree videos. By the way your pupper is adorable could you introduce maybe and another video
i love this video! i have been seeing crumbl cookie recipes all over pinterest. i had never heard of them before. i've made cookies with cake mixes for a long time. you can make them with brownie mix too, just need different amounts of added ingredients. however you can take the brownie cookies you made, crumble them up and add some cream cheese and mix well. then form into balls and freeze. then dip in melted chocolate chips or almond bark for cake pops.
If this video doesn't go viral I have to wonder what the internet is really doing with their wasted time because this is pure GENIUS! and it's more bang for your buck! I love your videos! GOOD STUFF! Thank you so much for looking out for people that aren't so fortunate to have the luxury of buying expensive food items plus everything at home always tastes way better!
What size is that cookie scoop,it's massive! I'm a baker and hella impressed my friend! My sister and her girls are huge into getting crumble cookies,I may make them some of these! Sister is beginning her fight with cervical cancer and she could really use the pick me up. Thanks so much for all you share, you have no idea the difference you make in people's lives with these ideas. Especially for people who deserve a little treat at the worst time of their lives but can't afford to get their favorites anymore. And the stand mixer... mwaaaa (chefs kiss!)! Yes,I watch you alot and see you do that all the time! Love your channel, keep sharing my friend!
Omg i love this. I have tried Crumbl cookies a few times but have only paid for them once. They are way over priced but really yummy. Thank you for showing this video. I think your cookies look just like the one's that they make. I might have to try this for the holidays and I am not a baker but you make this look easy
I just want to tell you again thank you thank you thank you for putting the recipes in the drop-down box that is so helpful. And that’s why I subscribe to you.😁❤️
I use brownie mixes to make cookies all the time . . . I just make to package instructions add more AP flour until the batter is thick and scoop-able. You won’t need to refrigerate to be able to scoop. Thanks for your great ideas!
girl I loved this video but I was sooo sad you didn’t finish the strawberry cookies, that was the one I was most excited to see toppings and icing for. They looked really good!!!
These look amaziiiing! I luv Crumbl actually and feel the $5 is worth it because I eat at it for about 3 days…they are delish!! You’ve inspired me to explore baking all types of cookies!! 🍪🍪🍪
You are awesome! I would have never thought of these ideas. You are so kind to give away the cookies. I also love your sweater in the beginning. Thanks again for sharing these incredible ideas and recipes.
We just got a Crumbl in our area and this tutorial is just the perfect dupe 😊look up whoopie pie recipe using boxed cake mix and that would be the closest to a crumbl cookie .
Wow…is there anything you can’t do! You’re amazing! Talk about a lovely gift to give for the holidays! You should be very pleased and proud of your creation! Just love you!!!! ❤❤❤
That was so much fun to watch. I can imagine it would be endless to find all the different cookies you could come up with. My favorite cookies are the cake like cookies. I hope you keep trying new flavors and share them with us. It's the perfect time for baking now that fall is almost here
What a fantastic video! I really thought those were crumble cookies in the box at the beginning!!I am trying them all. For the snickerdoodle, I would add 1 tsp. cream or tartar if you have it, to the sugar cookie mix. It will give them that distinct snickerdoodle tang. It might make them puff up a bit more, because it reacts with baking soda.
Wow thanks. They actually look like crumbe cookies. I have never had their cookies because they are not close to me but I didnt know it was $5 for a cookie. I think I will be recreating their cookies also.
