I've noticed some pipers playing G in tune: F hole covered, and some playing it using conventional pipe fingering, with the top three holes uncovered, which results in it being a bit out of tune according to standard tuning. Is there different schools of thought about how high G should sound amongst pipers?
Philip Crouch Hi Phil ! Lave your F hole Covered if you play ceòl mòr , this results in a flatter High G , if you play light music , don’t do it in those tunes. Slàinte !
