Hummay of Bilma just to the north of Kanem is the historical founder of the Kanem-Bornu empire. He starts with 4000 special troops and a claim on the kingdom of Kanem.
I made that empire and fuedalized in 900 with the husband of the landed married couple, his culture is one innovation away from 70%. But thanks, I was wondering where I had gotten special troops from 😂

For those who do actually care the Igbo culture is actualy pronounced [ee-boh] not "ig-bow". In the Igbo language the letter I makes a long e sound like in "meet" and the letter e actually makes an ay sound like in "eight" it also follows the I be for e rule like in english, so the name Okezie is actually pronounced [Oh-Kay-Zee] and not [Oh-kee-zee]. Its also why Benin is prounounced [Beh-neen] because the two cultures are very closely related. CK 3 is actually in error when they say that they are from the Youruba cultural group. In fact Nigeria as whole still holds a very closes relationship with the modern nation of Benin becasue of how prominent igbo culture is in modern day Nigeria and the relationship they once shared. Nigeiran and Igbo history is very colorfull and depressing. I highly recommnend reading about it as hard is it is to find information about. (im a 2nd generation Igbo-American)
I had a lot of fun creating the kingdom of Nubia. I started as Makuria, absorbed Alodia and had a lot of bordering wars with Abyssinia, my nemesis in that region. Then, the christian kingdom of Jerusalem was formed and they became my trusty allies over many generations.
I really enjoy Nubia. I swore fealty to the Fatimid’s for becoming the steward, they quickly tried to revoke my title but the war is so easy because of how narrow the border is. I ended up deposing like 4 caliphs xD
i just don't know how you are such a great, yet such small channel here in youtube. great job man. subs will come. and i'm here to like and comment to help you.
@@RealmBuilderGuy He's based on a real guy called Uhtred the Bold, and the guy who wrote Saxon Stories, which the Last Kingdom is based on, is actually descended from the historical Uhtred. I think he was the Lord of Northumbria or something.
Enjoying the channel and have subscribed! Just wanna say that the 'g' in Igbo is silent :) Looking forward to more videos! Always looking for new interesting starts.
Will you also do a France or Italy guide? My basic plan for my next game (currently doing the Mother of us all achievement run) is to start out as a count in Southern France or Burgundy and work my way up to King (maybe become the HRE's vassal so abuse feudal contracts?) and then try to empower my dynasty and marry to all kinds of houses. So kind of like a Habsburg dynasty, but set outside of the initial HRE. I still can't decide which count/dynasty would make for the most fun campaign though.
Remembered to hit Like! I recommend Kong as another great Africa start. I honestly only chose it because I wanted to be King Kong (I'm 45 going on 15) but ended up being super fun, not as chaotic as I was expecting, I ended up doing far more diplomacy than war. Horn of Africa is great too, Mountains of the Moon stuff. Great videos, really enjoying these to learn more about the history behind the kingdoms in the game
I was wondering if this idea is possible and how best to start it: Set up and create a Zensunni faith from Dune, were the Fremen descent from. Looking at how it was described I'd assume it mixes islam (sunni) with elements of some tribal religions (with a nomadic tradition) and buddhism (zen). It could be similated with a tenet that improves relations, either from tribal to islam or vice versa. Exotericism looks nice to portray the Zen. Preferably a desert nation of course eventually, but I could start anywhere. I'd prefer to have a small, highly developed kingdom, part of a puppet empire. I think you can take over an empire by marriage and killing an heir. Instead of taking over a mess where no one likes you set up a strong vassal kingdom for yourself and maybe rearrange the kingdom so it helps defend the region and not bother you. (Saves micromanaging and allows a non warfare ruler). Being culture head of an initially small culture (high average development) seems fitting too. I wanna create and spread this zensunni religion kinda indirectly. I wanna focus on creating a huge scattered dynasty if independent dukes and kings. If converted they should sustain and propagate it, right? I 100% want to be dynasty head and focus on a little blood, glory and kin (all 2) to marry into and take over nice lines. Would such a play be possible? How tough is it to marry into all these city states, and later convert them? Would an islamic faith with the milder opinion on tribal faith (hostile to each other) work and be worth a tenet? Would the reverse be better? Did something similar exist historically, integrating local traditions and aspects with islam?
That sounds extremely intriguing. You're on the right track with Islam as the faith, but it would be hard(ish) to marry & convert, since differing faiths have debuffs on marriage acceptance.
@@RealmBuilderGuy Yeah, that's why Glory (first legacy) is really good, maybe you also need hooks. The Tenet I meant is called ... syncretism. It's a waste of a tenet, but lowers evil to hostile.
Love your vids man. A idea i had that im surprised a youtuber hasnt done is the different cultures with early succession. Such as occitan and basque having high partition within the first life easily. The czech with early house seniority. Im sure their are others but those are ones ive found. But just an idea.
So i found it. Its a culture specialist called visigothic codes. Occitan anf basque in 866 and argonese and catalan. Not as many as i thought at first but still interesting.
Yeah, I don’t like you second-guessing these peoples heritage about being the descendants of Solomon, since most people take the word of anybody in Europe, who claims to be descendent of ancient ruler just give them the same courtesy
My first campaign in crusader kings 3 was as the child chief Nana Eufua of Aowyn. He is the only pagan child ruler of all Africa, of akan culture that has really good names like Jojo, the most cheap culture retinue which are archers with no bad terrain and pursue and next to the most powerful religion in the game! Bidaism. With that religion you get -20% tyranny gain in Niani plus 0'10 reduction, you can then combine that with the Power Tenet that gives you -50% tyranny and then righteous doctrine that gives you in the end of the perk of faith lifestyle, -25% .meaning that you can do anything you want because it creates only -1 of tyranny, you can even get callous rulers to get 0.combine that with pacifism and Monasteism to imprison your children that you don't want to be rulers and then negotiate to make them monks... FOR FREE! And then you get the best duchy for money in the game too, Mading, because there's two mines there of +5 gold each and that gets to +15 later in game, and bamkuk as your second duchy. Just make sure that instead of creating a kingdom that is part of the Guinea empire you do a custom kingdom, putting jenne, Timbuktu bamkuk and whatever you can gobble up. You can even make sure that you get one duchy only kigdoms to get the "dynasty of many crowns" Or to have a kingdom with no djjure land and cannot be taken away or asked for. ;D
@@RealmBuilderGuy thanks to you for throwing some light to one of the most cool parts of the map, that often gets overshadowed by the central Europe and crusader kingdoms.
Actually Almoravids lasted 600+ years, we know this because they took over lower France or Spain for 600 years (like in charge of it for that amount of time) still an EXCELLENT video!
Lmao i reformed bori faith, formed kanem bornu with daurama and them launched a holy war against nubia so almost all of abyssinia is on my hands hehe africa is fun as hell
I always want to play an African campaign but I’m new to the game and both times I tried I got mauled by all my neighbours immediately. Starting as Manding I got attacked by 4 factions and lost half my territory. I managed to take Konko, but then another two neighbours attacked and I gave up. Then I tried Mogadishu and got smashed by Malang and Jilib attacking at the same time, plus another one that must be on the 867 map and not 1066 because I can’t remember the name and it’s not on the map in the video. I’ve been playing some European campaigns to get used to the mechanics before I try again.
Depends on where and when you invade Africa. You could get a few county’s here and there but you’ll never be able to invade the large kingdoms there. Too many alliances and too many people.
40 sec talking about liking your video. Paused the video, disliked. I know what i like, and i hate to be remembered every single video, but you topped it by streching it to 40 sec....
