You spelled it out perfectly. With 2,500 hours in the game it’s not substantial enough to define a run but it’s more than worth 5 bucks and that comes down to the universities. It’s nice to have a purely in-game way to make your character noticeably better and the tier 5 traits are fun and goofy. If I have any complaint it’s that the wet nurse and childhood events are really just another way to make the game easier by having less death events and picking specific character traits though I’m sure some people will love that.
I don't like the random death events tbh, they happen a tad too often for my taste. Would rather have difficulty increased in other ways even if it's just a stat rebalances. Ideally better ai (that is closer to an actually good player depending on difficulty setting)
@@zifircin1797 you can literally just change the frequency of the events it’s in the rules and I don’t think it affects Ironman or achievements. And I’d take events over stats every day. It’s way more interesting to say “oh no my guy slipped and fell and died in the tub for literally no reason” than “oh no I have -5 to martial!” That’s besides the historical reality of random bullshit happening and leaving countries leaderless and in shambles.
I experienced the DLC as a very welcome addition. As a Mu'nis player I was finally able to adopt a child without relying on court or travel events. Also the hostage mechanic is great if you want your neighbouring rulers to just CTFO. Wards & Wardens is at best a flavor pack with a couple of events, but at least some frustrating parts of playing CK3 have been remedied.
i have a game as england with alfred the great, where i made a german guy duke of mercia. he just happened to inherit a duchy in north italy because the line of succession died out. this made me try to conquer croatia. after having about half of croatia i decided to hold the great mordovians son hostage, i treated him really well and converted him into anglo saxon. (just wanted to see what would happen). vikings then invaded me and i sent him back and he brought me troops which was just enough to defend myself however my ruler was suddenly murdered. after my next young ruler came of age i noticed that the hostage i once had was now king of great mordova, he lived to about 80 and basically conquered all of hungary, wallachia and bohemia aswell as half of croatia. it was honetsly a really cool story. unfortunately he made all his kingdoms elective and he had no sons only daughters so his land his now completely split up. i hope the next dlc changes succession or atleats makes the ai better at deciding who they want as king and not having electives when they don’t have to. that’s my experience so far (definitely one of the most interesting ai characters i’ve ever seen.
I think it’s a move in the right direction and the price isn’t too bad but a lot of this should have been in the game ages ago and probably just scratches the surface in regards to events
Yeah the idea behind event packs was bad idea in general, these event packs could easy tie in with flavor pack without even changing the theme. I think the event packs are meant to stall for bigger content becuase of slow roll out of flavor packs dlc
It doesn't work for me. Twice in a row I started as Alfred of Wessex and went straight to university. Both times I maxed out the progress bar, both times I unlocked the exalted warlord education trait and both times it didn't apply it to my character so I'm still on Brilliant Strategist.
If i get ond more tooth from my children i will scream, I've 5 already from 3 different generations. This dlc really does not really add much, it doesn't even really enhance the experience. I like the universities but the children events are just bad, too repetitive and ferl like spam
@@Pigraider268 i don't care about realism, i want immersion. At least have the same event rephrased or something depending on culture, religion, gender or just generally. This is CK3s biggest issue, the small amount of events that are just way too repetitive
So 5$ is ok for new players but not the ones with +1k hours ? Weird Logic. At that point you gonna buy whatever comes along anyway. Plus the content is good. How many times have I sat through 8 years or so of childhood.. doing nothing. Hostages are great too, had me really attached as if their were my own children.
I really get sick of people saying "bah this should be a free update bah". Most of us bought the game at launch and we enjoyed it at that time for the price. So anything they add stands to reason they would want to make money off it. Paradox is a DLC machine. People need to understand this.
