Crush delay, drum loop, chiptune sequence

Who could ask for anything more? This is sort of a mutation and further exploration of a few concepts from my previous video. All of the spacey noises are coming from the Crush delay, going through a filter and being fed into the Dub delay. Crush time is modulated; Dub time is steady and synced to the tempo of the drum loop. The two delays are fed back into each other. I was enjoying this psychedelic groove but it needed something more than the occasional bell tone from Rings, so I set up Threshold to play with Hermod, where I am up to my old tricks: Interlacing short sequences of different lengths and 50% chance per note. That technique yields unpredictable interactions between short segments of sequenced material, a "predetermined randomness" if you will.

I like that iudea of filtering the audio as it comes out of the crush delay and feeding it back into the dub delay. When the minimal bass hits enter it really gives the piece a sense of swing.

Sounds like a certain type of Folk music,,,maybe New orleans type music in electric gear...the Rhythm sort of resembles that...hmmm,,,,

I had to apply an EQ to the Dub delay to stop the kick drum from taking over the entire thing.

sounds like an alien robot jazz cafe really like the spacing between notes in the arrangement sparse but not too boring

Thanks. I didn't want the sequence to be too busy because there's a lot going on in the delay-recycling section of the patch.

Quite often the journey itself is more important than getting to the destination. 🤔

It's the Befaco Crush delay. I think most modular delays are designed to underclock the chip so you get nasty noises at the "slow" end of the time knob. Crush has a couple of nice extras: Input & output VCAs, glitch switches for extra crunchiness, gate inputs for the glitch switches, and an effects loop so you can send the signal out for processing and then back into the delay. I never had a Mimeophon. What was the problem with it?

It was a nice delay it just did not have the Lo-Fi glitch as the Befaco...
