I am a one-man band recording music the old-fashioned way (i.e. without a computer, on a hardware multi-track recording deck.) See my eurorack modular synthesizer slowly grow as I learn to play it. I also draw "furry" comics under the alias Tegerio. Here is where I'll be showing how I do things; mostly music but occasionally art as well.
Wow everything in this is so great! Kastle is a tiny but huge device isn't it?!? Just got a Bit Ranger today and damn I love Bastl so much! Any plan to make some video with it in the future? Thanks for sharing! 👍
I've had that ribbon instrument for a while ... more than 2 years. It's been languishing in its shipping tube because I just didn't like it much, and believe it or not I felt like the theremin was easier to play. But then I pulled it out this June and I think I'm starting to appreciate it now.
Yes! Very much tighter! This is a great performance. I can imagine enjoying this at a live show. Just enough syncopation balanced with variety and improvisation.
The squidgy lead is the star of the show! It almost has a cartoon character voice. I love the way the bass pattern plays off of it. Great patch! I'd be very interested to hear more improvs with the touch strip. Its mellow tone is a nice contrast to the raspy lead.
Ah, I was wondering about the NOON sounds. Thank you for this video - I can really hear the difference! The Operator sounded slightly unhinged, and that made it more exciting in some ways. I think the tiny interface would vex me, compared to the open (and attractive) NOON.
I definitely like those sounds! It's a very jazzy set, and proof that the Operator is an intuitive instrument. Too bad about the ergonomics, though. We just need to buy bigger houses to enclose all the tabletop instruments.
I tried this exact same patch with the NOON (disconnected Operator, kept main rack exactly same & plugged all the cables into NOON instead - video maybe tomorrow). I'm thinking now that the way the Operator is built - with a patch bay instead of switches - encourages reckless experimentation and that's what makes it seem "wilder" than the NOON.
Yes, the Trogotronic m/669 "Warthog" Originally it was being gated along with everything else, but I took it out and let it run free so there'd be something holding the mix together. It's making the static fizzles and radio whines.
That cluster has black magic under the panel! Making each channel CV controllable is genius and I like the way you've used it here with the Drezno. I think your experiment absolutely worked, and it has more potential too.
@@JoshuaKennedy321 very impressive!! with all the new granular devices that have been developed over the last 10 years since clouds came out... very impressive, indeed.
Always admire your setup...i see users on FB trying to get a nice large setup like you have...i would love to see your setup in that Large Structure 344 Eurorack Studio Case....OMG<,,that would be awesome....it would be a new studio....Keep it real Josh,,,,i'm thinking of getting a mini version of this and start building up my Modular gear again....but this time bigger
@@JoshuaKennedy321 haha... I hear you Joshua kind of the same Here.I just got back from Guitar Center.I just purchased a Zoya, but the foot pedal version.Wow, this thing is awesome.I had the euro rack version before , but somehow I'd like to foot pedal version better
Thanks! On re-listening I realize I should take more time tuning the oscillators. That's what happens when I record during the same session I was patching ... listening to this thing for over an hour, one's sense of pitch gets distorted. Coming back later and hearing it fresh, I notice all of the problems. Ah well, this patch is still on the system so I can tweak it and try again.
@@JoshuaKennedy321 I think it all hangs together very well! I'd be interested to hear what changes you make because I often have a similar response to my work after posting it on YT. Of course in my case the problems are obvious to everyone else immediately but in this jam of yours, I believe the tuning sounds great.
hey it sounds killer, but what is exactly going on? is the sound from the Noon or is it just sending CV ? or is it just receiving CV from the modular? what ever it is, is killer.
All of the sound is from Noon, except the xylophone-like hits (those are from Rings.) Noon is a passive device; it cannot generate CV. It is receiving 8 triggers from XAOC Jena set to bank E (drum pattern mode.) Master clock is also driving 8-Bit Cipher (the module with the circle of flashing lights) and an 8 step sequencer, both of which are generating CV. These two CV signals are going into Noon to modulate the odd and even channels. Rings audio is getting delay and reverb through Typhoon but I think I kept Noon's output dry.
Ah, I have been hankering for some of that NOON syncopation! With headphones this is truly psychedelic. I really like the way the wood tone percussion from Rings and squishy bass from NOON work together.
Every one of these things is a collaboration with the machine. It was fifty percent luck and fifty percent technical know-how. Its ability to produce unexpected results is the main delight of working with this synthesizer setup. Glad you enjoyed it!
I used a guitar pedal power supply. Not sure if it was the PSA-120 but I do have one and probably used it. My other one is a Danelectro "zero hum" and it also says 9.6v on the label. I have to have used one of them, and my Monos didn't explode - so I think you'll be fine.
🎉Yay, The Twiddler!!!🎉 The simple genius of this device really tickles me. I'm very impressed by the playability and I can see how it fits into the same class of instruments as the saw. I really do hope it stays on the performance desk for a while, now that it's out of retirement.
I need to apply some compression or something to combat the "higher pitch = louder" problem which is inherent to the way this mechanical oscillator works.
So unique and creative style. Exceptionnal musical production! Much inspired and talented. Incredible material. Wonderful orchestration and interpretation. Incredible musician. Full of spirit.Good for the mind and the ears. Big big big like for this magnificient perform and brighting sharing. Splendid and luminous.
Love this, thanks for posting. Your sequence seems perfect for this, I keep coming back to it just to listen. I got the m669 right after watching this video. Now like trogotronic so much I got a Valkyrie and a couple of other of the modules. Also learned about synthrotek from your video.
Trog noise is best noise! Thanks for taking the time to comment; it's so gratifying to know that my video inspired someone! I always wanted a Valkyrie but ... hoo boy, the price tag ... obviously I've spent many times that amount on my rack, but that was spread out over a couple of years, and never on a SINGLE piece of gear. Congratulations if you could afford one. I bet it is really satisfying to play.
Its prwtty awesome that this musical gear can be in sync with external gear....i really likw...have you had any trouble syncing before and is it like 100 in sync with any bpm?...i think i want one..& I'm referring to the Noon
NOON is driven by triggers / gates / envelopes / CV. It doesn't have its own internal clock. If your trigger source is in sync, then NOON will be in sync. Each channel has its own trigger in, and there are 8 of them, so to use it you will need a clock source with multiple outputs, like Trigger Riot or Pamela's New Workout. How many outputs does Ornament & Crime have?
@JoshuaKennedy321 Ornament and crime has four output...very basic though. But it's still an output... also have the mutable instruments marbles clone.... But as far as a steady clock those two would be the ones I would use
I think I hear what the Hypster is doing and yes the sound is identical!! I like those little squirrelly moments of chaos. Nonlinear Circuits make such interesting modules. It's so enticing to be offered the chance to change four different dimensions of sound.
I used to have more NLC modules but some of them are so esoteric I couldn't figure out a good use for them. The Hypster and the Cypher are great. Divide & Conquer is useful but not weird.
That was Awesome my friend 🔥💯🔥 Nice to See a new Video 🫡🔥🎧 + 1 Like 👍🏽🔥💰 Iove it 🔊🔥 Dope like alwayz, i'm glad to see the Next video 👀👌🏽🔥 Please leave something back 🔥🙏🏽😍🔥 Stay tuned 🔥😁💪🏽💯
How did I miss this.....I always admire your large Modular setup......And very interesting series of events here....Did I see a Befaco Crush Delay in your Rig?.....hmm...u could have mistaken it for something else...
