Hello Randy! That Pierce uncapping tank and included filter are just plain FANTASTIC! I used it in the spring for my left-over winter honey frames. I can't believe that you gave away that professional queen grafting tool :) The metal screen in another company's system was carbon steel (not stainless) and it flavored the honey, that's on the shelf forever (';'). At 3:00 I thought that was her voice for a second :) I think that's a 600-micron filter, works perfectly! I'll use that method on my Layens hive frames since I don't have an extractor for that size frame. I hope you BOTH have a fantastic week! My grandmonkeys would be very unhappy if I did that to the trampoline :)

Hey Fred That other tub you had must have been Mann Lake. Blink twice if that's right. Elizabeth has claimed this one. She is using it as I type. Great piece of gear and I hadn't thought of the Layens frames not fitting in most extractors. If you can get the kids on the trampoline with feeding bees they learn new flips and tricks. Y'all have a great week.

Great video. Not a beekeeper. But I do love bees. And I've grown to appreciate them a whole lot more. Because of your videos. I had a swarm in my yard. Called up a friend of mine whose father-in-law is a beekeeper. He brought over a hive and he dumped the bees into the box. So I am the proud custodian of a hive. It's pretty cool.

Yes I am and the colony has flourished. I need to get a hold of the beekeeper who helped me to make sure that they harvest some of the honey. So they have new places to build their comb.

Looks like a solid unit. I recently found the value of having an uncapping tank. Pierce is a great company. That turtle is slick, I'd sit and watch that thing all day. Little Bee buddy there.

Sometimes we have four turtles come up to eat but that one would come knock on the door if we weren’t out there quick enough.

Protection plan on a dust mask? What will these businesses come up with next to separate a fool from there money

If you read the warranty on those masks, I think you will find that "normal wear and tear" are not covered. Since the purpose of dust masks is to filter out dust - clogging is to be expected, so comes under normal wear and tear. Or the warranty may state "defective materials or workmanship" - and clogging is not a defect. All those warranties are a huge profit generator for the seller, which is why they offer them to the gullible.

Been wanting to ask, why do you crush the cut out comb? Since the bees spend so much honey to build wax, wouldn’t it be better to rubber band that to comb

It's easier to deal with later if you just help them rebuild on foundations. The rubber banded comb get messy over time and they never really build on it like they do before it's cut out.

One of the coolest things to us... Is how they find the left overs within a few minutes. No matter where you put it in the yard and they have it clean in no time. We enjoyed it! If the belly of y'all's little box turtle is flat on the bottom it's a little girl. If the belly is concave it's little boy. God bless!

You two are a sweet couple and your videos are so very enjoyable and informative. he protection plan issue is in my way of seeing it nothing more than a complete fraud. They are offered because it is figured consumers are not very smart when they buy, a low cost and the vague idea of "enhanced guarantee" is a pretty easy sell often enough that these plans are money makers. I would bet that actual claims are very low because unless it is a big ticket item most people don't want to go all the way back to the store and take the time. Then would come the fine print...what exactly is protected? This is the stuff of fraud that ought to be targeted by our do nothing elected representatives.

We let ours drain over night and because it has a good fitting lid we don't worry about bugs and dust getting in it over night.

I can help you on that one.... Set out an upside down gravity feeder with syrup. After they find it, the bees will continue to visit. Go to it after you get decent traffic and mark with a compass which was they're traveling. The answer to which you seek is exactly the direction the compass points. It might be farther than you expect. Also, you will have multiple hives accessing your syrup.

You can find em the old timers way, like he said put out some bait then lay on your back and watch which way they come and from, go in that direction for couple 100 yards set up your bait again and repeat the process it's called "beelineing", old timers did it in the mountains because bees will always take the shortest route. If you run out bait, pee on something that will hold it and watch, they called that stinkbait. Gus Mitchell told us how his Grandpa taught how to beeline when he was a kid growing up in Appalachia.

Have you thought about making your own extractor. Saw a jig made up using a plastic food barrel. They made a double frame holder and had a bracket that went above it that could be clamped to the barrel with the stem from the center of the jig that extends from bottom out the top. They had two barrel top halves that they would put in place I suspect to keep the honey in. Then they attached a heavy cordless drill to the stem sticking out the top and brought it up to speed. They claimed it worked great and were thinking about reworking the frame holder to hold 10 frames and use an electric motor to run it.

@@Peter_A1466 Pete, you save up that comb in big plastic garbage bags and start up a solar melter. Get it cleaned, then put it in another solar melter to get sun bleached. That sun bleached wax is worth $ to the cosmetics industry

No we recycle the wax when we melt it then. triple coat new foundation so the can draw it out faster.

That hive beetle execution was too humane. There's got to be a better way to torture them, before they're burned alive in molten wax. I hate those little things. The Pierce heated uncapping knife is amazing on medium and shallow frames. I saw Kamon use one and had to purchase one. They're expensive, but money well spent. Great video!

I like the design, are the filters re-usable to an extent and/or affordable? Are they proprietary or can you use generic filters on the kit?

They are proprietary but are washable and durable. You could fit other material in there but I'm sure replacement filters are probably affordable if you somehow ruined one.

for crushing comb, would mechanism like the roller from an old style washer, or possibly one of the old style food grinder work better for crushing comb with less effort (and save wearing out your forearms!) work well for this type of processing???

That cutout comb, strained, cleaned and sun melted/bleached is worth money. The comb doesn't have chemicals that most apiaries comb does, which brings the value up. Something to think about 🐓

I don't know, but it feels like when they offer things like "protection plans" it is more of a "We offered you a way to proceed with legal things, but you declined it..." thing. Example: "This chainsaw burst into flames when I put gas in it!" "Well, you declined the extended warranty which would have covered non-in-zone gas suppliers..." "You didn't explain that to me when you said warranty!" "You also didn't read this 15 foot long receipt with the full terms and conditions, we have cameras with you throwing it out in the garbage can right here..." "How was I supposed to read that, it came out after I bought this!" "It was posted on our website..." And so on and so forth. Just wearing down the normal person with useless and pedantic nonsense, until they just give up.

I know your probably going to get alot of flack and sassiness for this but here goes. I Googled this and this is what Google said, "Do not feed your turtle cat food ever!!! It will cause long term damage." So turtles like fruit and veggies, and bugs.

These have been eating with our cats for several years and even lay eggs up here now. We get more and more turtle in our yard every year. I think Google is misinformed.
