Magnus thought e4 while fine was slightly superficial. I haven't figured out why.

"The Queen is in Siberia!" That's right. Yekaterinburg is in Siberia :-)

Not exactly. In Russia it is considered to be in the Urals region. Siberia starts around Omsk and then eastwards from there.

I do enjoy listening to Danny's voice after having to bear that very loud voice caster- I won't mention names.

The Catalan is just such a difficult opening to defend against with the Black pieces. Good opening choice by Nepo.
@PowerPlayChess
@PowerPlayChess 3 года назад
I agree it is difficult to defend against at amateur levels. However, at top levels it is just another opening and this was poorly done by Alekseenko. He was taken by surprise by Nepo’s ‘gentle’ choice of system.

Funny opening choice. In amateur play, the Reti is super powerful precisely for the reason that no one really prepares for it. Yet there is little black can do to completely avoid it. I always loved that opening, almost always got me a comfortable position. Many good Reti positions are not only advantageous for white, but also terribly easy to play. Many white moves in this game were pretty obvious.

I don't understand (my fault) what was the problem of rook b8 to free the bishop c8 and/or protect the pawn b7. There were many situations where, after Qc7, this move was possibile, because after Bf4 black could have played Bd6.

Lol the Catalan is gonna be popular for the next couple of momths and Najdorf poisoned pawn will be very unpopular.

Hey man :) I have a question... You always pronauce player names perfectly. Are you good with languages or do you look up the correct pronunciation somewhere beforehand?

Of course Mr. King mispronounces names. For instance, his pronunciation of "Wojtaszek" (my compatriot) is a far cry from Polish pronunciation. But who cares. His English is tremendous!

Alekseenko played very badly in the opening, as pointed out. Please also review the round 10 game between Grischuk and Wang Hao - why do you think Grischuk was calculating lines for an hour? And to analyse the queen sac

I would say that Black already is much worse after 10...cxd4, helping White achieve an ideal Catalan position and having a big problem with his q-side development.

For useful tactic usual ingredients are weak pieces including king. Pieces not enough protected or mobile.

Sir I feel chess is such a brutal game. Even a player rated lower than u punishes so badly .I have faced it .I play with atleast 80 % accurate engine moves after a small mistake but opponent plays with atleast accuracy not less than 75% if u made mistake .Opponents punish by accurate moves but if said to made normal moves opponents accuracy drops to 60%😢😥 and i lose

Biel 2013, on the first occasion that I met Ian, I asked him how he pronounced his name. You can find it in this round report at 1.00. Stress on the 'pom': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G8MNZtA3Ak0.html
