Thank you for this, I live in a low salt environment in California but I’m still getting some crust on my 2013 road king classic. I think I’ll put some music on, have a cigar, and get the scotch Brite out.
Sounds like a solid plan! 👍 I didn’t mention it in the video, but when you’re done it will be bare aluminum. Take care of the forks like you would uncoated wheels. Keep clean and give them a little polish every now and then.
I own an '05 Wide Glide, I bought two months prior to the start of COVID-19. The chrome and spokes on the front rim were pretty bad. The fork lowers had the usual peeling clear coat, and one foek seal was leaking. This bike, however, has extremely low miles! A 2005 W.G., with less than 3,500 miles, in Nov. 2019. Bought it. So, I know the pain, have spent HOURS doing likewise to the fork legs. Front tire was ok, bought an Avon Cobra Chrome tire, replaced fork seals, and fork fluid. Bought a Progressive Suspension lowering kit, lowered forks 1.5." The stock front rim
...oops, hit send by mistake! The front rim and spokes took hours, and hours to get both decent l! Sometimes, gotta put in thede work! Aloha, from Honolulu, Hi. 🤙☺🤙
Sounds like a cool bike! I love old dynas. And man, we recently had a couple former rental bikes from Hawaii.. you guys have a whole unique corrosion thing going on there. Don’t know if it’s the salt air or what, but it’s waaaaay worse than bikes we get from even Florida. Definitely gotta stay on top of that and keep it clean!
@FixinProblems Yes, the salt air. Think about it, I live on a tiny speck of land, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Totally inundated with salt in the air. Most of the time, can't really tell, until you look at your car windows,... Right now is a tense time for me. June-November is Hurricane season for us. You're probably aware of Maui's wildfires a few weeks ago, that decimated Lahaina. 😔 PRAYERS. ⚘️🙏⚘️ thank you for the comments! 👍🙂👍
Any will do, But I like the 3M on a roll because I can fold it into a strip and work around the fork. It also doesn’t clog up like the cheaper stuff can.
So, you’re not gonna take the wheel off? Then what you are saying, is, you’re going to do a half assed job? I do appreciate the advice, and I enjoy watching the video. But I believe if you’re going to do a job, do it, right. Just my opinion. Now the heaters compile on.
