you explained it in the best way possible. people went in with huge expectations because of its history but you have to remember this was a made for TV movie for nickelodeon, targeted towards children. it’s not bad, but you can see it was made for a younger demographic and several of those who were disappointed have simply grown up.
It has been confirmed by a Nickelodeon representative that the reason it was never aired again wasn't because it was too scary it was simply forgotten about.
I was thinking the same thing. I had just found this channel recently and it’s a shame he hasn’t posted in a while. Hope he’s alright and simply busy with other things and will post again soon.
IIRC, they also aired it in April 2019 (on one of the offshoot channels if not Nick proper) for their 40th anniversary. That’s when I saw it for the second time. That all being said, The main reason they didn’t hear it again was probably the cardinal rule of horror movies; they’re just not a scary the second time around. Plus, remember that the turn of the century meant all the network executives were getting so ratings conscious that everything had to be formulaic, so all of the unique, out of the box stuff got put back on the shelf.
I actually vaguely remember this airing. I was a college freshman at the time(I’m 41 now for anyone wondering), and I was at Vincennes University watching Nickelodeon when it came on. I watched it for a few minutes, and I lost interest and turned it off. Part of the reason is I’ve never been a fan of Nickelodeon live-action shows, although I have seen a few episodes of “Are you afraid of the dark” and thought it was ok. I don’t remember anybody saying anything about it or about any so-called controversy. I just assumed people like me tuned it and found it uninteresting. I have sense watched it here on RU-vid, and I found it to be decent.
Your insightful, nostalgic explorations have a degree of vulnerability that often come from looking back in time to the safety and security of childhood. You’re under appreciated and absolutely earned my sub. Thank you and keep it up!
I found about Cry Baby Lane as a kid and too this day it still scares me. I’ve seen it, it’s not that scary, but the pure white eyes on the groups of kid mixed with the low quality footage just scares me in a way nothing else has
I remember wanting to watch this movie but my Dad made us go to bed. I remember that he was then going to allow us to stay up later but decided not too because we were not laying in bed when came back into our room 😂
Honestly think animorphs would have done better if it were as gorey as the books. But I get that you can't show disembowled animals and aliens on kids TV lol.
I've been meaning to ask before you reuploaded, but I kept forgetting. Lol. What's the background music that you used starting at 6:49? I want to use it for a video I'm making based around my current special interest.
I was trying to make an edit to add some links at the end, and I guess there was a processing error, leaving the video unplayable with an error message. Apparently its rare but other users have had the same issue.
