Welcome to my video showcasing my recent mods on the Crybaby Wah. I’ve added 2 parallel LEDs, changed many output values and converted to true Bypass, as well as swapping some older parts out to replace the crappy old ones! The Wah mods have existed (especially on the Internet) for a looooong time now and I thought I’d try my hand in it! I of course could not have completed this work without the help of videos by CSGuitars and articles online by Stinkfoot. Hope ya dig it!!!

I recently finished a bunch of mods on my pedal (including a momentary switch) and added both power and activation LED's - for the power LED you do the same as the other, but just don't connect it to the switch.

Good video and I liked the way you sent the wah input to ground when bypassed to ensure silence - some folks neglect to do this. However, two questions: 1- Tone sucking is solved with a full bypass switch OR having an input buffer. Better switch is a good idea, but I don’t think you needed to remove the buffer. In fact a buffer is good if used right after the guitar (helpful as a line driver, changing high-impedance low current signal to low-impedance high current), and if you don’t have too many in the signal chain to the amp (each contributes a bit of distortion, and it can add up. That’s why too many Boss type pedals in chain is not good, and why folks ‘loop’ them out when not in use.) 2- How many resisters do you have in the LED circuit? Three? Wouldn’t just one 240 or 330 ohm be fine? Thanks!

Dude. Hardest part was the LED's. The mod sounds so clear. Have to try.

Thanks mate! Got it working in 1 try thanks t your clear instructions. I did reduce the resistor that controls the gain a little as the value you chose was driving my fuzz face a little more than I wanted. I added an output buffer after the PCB to make it work with a fuzz as well.

Right on! Yeah, sometimes depending on your gain setups that value can be a little high. Super glad this helped you out! Cheers! 🤘

This is the link to the reverb listing where I bought it! I’ve literally ordered 7 from this one guy who makes them in Oklahoma! Haha. Only around $7.50. reverb.com/item/7925148-green-wah-tread?

Oh man, that’s AMAZING! I’m honored! Thank you for your kind words! It’s a massive rabbit hole, but a ridiculously fun one nevertheless 😁 I’ve actually got a vid on a cool Metal Zone mod coming soon!! Cheers, my friend!

Hey, Mine doesn't have a capacitor on the top right. It has an "orange mini block". What should I do?
@bsthadrudge5752

Agreed mine has a blue box and I’m curious if I can do the same buffer trick. Or not?
@MatthewChapmanMusic
@MatthewChapmanMusic 3 года назад
Hey guys! The blocks you’re seeing are actually a different form of a capacitor. So, essentially, you can perform the mods exactly as you see in the video as long as everything else is working fine! Thank you for watching! 🤘

So you can remove this I need to have the stuff to desolder but it is nice to know I can just remove the whole buffer.

I thing I notice with yours that I’ve been dealing with the same which bothers me is every time I am using the wah when I get to a certain point of Toe Down it makes that tapping of the actual foot switch sound but I can’t get the switch low enough to make it stop and still able to turn it on.any suggestions?
