Wow....wish my consultant knew all this...my first time with COP I was very ill.. hospital for 2 weeks as it took around a week for correct diagnosis...I recovered well though with a small scarring on one lung. Unfortunately about 3 years later I had it again...only in hospital for 1 week though as my history was available and I was treated correctly immediately. Took much longer to recuperate though and I developed Type 1 diabetes due to Steroids...that reversed when steroids ceased...it's a horrible illness..although I initially didn't feel very unwell I was told a bed in ICU had my name on it...just in case! Thank you for all the information...x

Irfan Sohall, I'm still weak... but I've a lot going on.. Arthritis, fibromyalgia, I'm waiting to get bowel cancer tests...we have a national drive of cancer tests, my last one came back with needing further tests, but then covid came and all non essential hospital treatment was suspended...though I thought cancer diagnosis would have been essential..and now my heart is playing silly games, erratic heart beats, I had a heart attack 6 years ago....so I have a few things to make me weak...my lungs are ok...small scarring...it doesn't affect my breathing, and since my last COP, I've haven't had any illness, not even the common cold... I hope you and yours are all well, managing to stay safe amid the pandemic. Thank you for enquiring..wishing you all the best...x

I'm a type 1 diabetic (since I was 10) also with BOOP. I'm glad to hear you've beaten it as it acts up, and I agree - it IS a horrible disease. It took them over half a year to fund out what I had when they finally did a biopsy which showed the BOOP. Honestly, I don't know how many more "flare-ups" my lungs can take.

On other interesting thing, is that BOOP can recur to some patients when reducing the cortisone. Well it happened to me when it was reduced from 15mg to 10mg (prezolon). Now I am back to the original doze I had, 50 mg. And the funny thing is that all tests are clean (blood, immunological and BAL).

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis I know. Thank God, all tests are clear and my oxygen saturation level is 97%. I am waiting for the BAL results, but the doctors reassured me that they don't expect to find something worrying. The protocol states though that the BAL bronchoscopy had to be done for my file(plus it costs 130 Euros). But as I said, it can recur quite often. There is nothing you can do about it, really rather than being patient. Τhere are some alternative immunological therapies I think

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Some updates. They were giving me 125mg of solumedrol for 5 days, and I am improving. The shadows are starting to disappear. It just takes time. Stay safe

Can you slow down please. I could barely understand what you are saying half the time. I just got diagnosed with Cryptogenic pnemonia 7 days ago. In hospital with maximum amount if steroids, antibiotics, oxygen mask and breathing treatments every 4 hours. I’m not making any progress. So I was excited to watch your video explaining it. You’re talking way to fast for to try and explain what’s happening to people with this rare lung disease. I
