The AM Dude in 2007 even best GPU that time 8800 Ultra (850€) can’t run it on ultra, only SLI of 4 of them could. And next 5-6y still 70-80% cant affort pc that could run it on Ultra, then you can get a picture how next gen was this game :D I had 8600gts, intel c2d, 8gb ram, and I could barelly play it on low with some medium settings :D That pc was like 2000€ that day, so 6 moths of parents salary :D

@@PoeLemic I`m guessing you`re being sarcastic here, because Steam takes 30% of earnings which seems to be a standard cut for game marketplaces (microsoft store, playstation store, apple store , google play does the same, while epic takes 12%). I`m not trying to advocate buying on one platform or another. Just pointing out that people have been waiting for years for whatever in this IP (be it sequel, remake or remaster) and when it finally arrives, most of the commenters here are being "inconsiderate" to put it mildly ,by saying stuff like "f%ck epic, I`m gonna get it from torrent" or in this case "-80% steam sale".

okay here is a Preview of what digital foundry will say where did the wind simulation go at 0:14 the old crysis you can see ALL the vegetation moves in the wind and then in the remaster it's all static i hope that get's fixed before release !! also the vegetation is way over saturated compared to the original that has more natural looking colors to the plants it's to bright green in the remaster it makes it look cartoony i also don't see the specular highlight shader on the palm trees anymore !

The devs have the choice. Which is the battle with Apple. No consumer had an issue with the Apple store taking 30%. That money doesn't come from the consumer it comes out of the developers pocket. So the developer chose to only release on the Epic Store for a 12/88 split as opposed to all other market places that take 30% and leave the developer with 70%. The Epic Store has always been about the developers, not the consumer. Consumer pays the same regardless.

They never said anything about a title being store exclusive. Unless of course you reduce it to “people should have a choice” to fit your argument.

linuma it uses ray tracing GI and reflections (clearly mentioned in this video) but not nvidia’s it uses cry engine’s SVOGI (voxel based global illumination) and RT shadows are not necessary for First persons shooters.. And also they never said it’s current gen only, it will probably release on next gen consoles.

You have a vast number of current gen consoles, and Crysis will be the first game on these consoles to run any kind of ray tracing. And wouldnt be surprised if they release a next gen upgrade when those consoles release. Hopefully they wont make the same mistake like they did with C3. And that blurriness is prob from TAA without any sharpening applied. You can easily apply sharpening through nvidia control panel.

linuma RTX for a remaster is really a bad idea because you can’t use it to it’s full potential since you can’t change the environments or level design to showcase ray tracing GI or shadows.. So with RTX on or off you will barely notice any difference.. paying money for nvidia just for a little difference in visuals is illogical.. I think that’s why they went with svogi.. we need to wait for a complete new Crysis game for a true next gen experience.

This isn't Crysis 4, it's a remaster. The whole point of a remaster is to bring the game up to date with current technology.

Or never. Wallet is the strongest point we can make against this. If they know in a year it'll be a top-seller on steam, why not take money from epic for exclusivity. Hope every title that forces us to a certain (in this case the worst) service flops badly. C2077 is a good example, they pointed out "ok, it's our store, if you get it there 100% goes to us" and it's still available day 1 elsewhere because we should have a choice. Even bad guys from EA/Ubisoft sell their titles elsewhere. Not to even mention how much people should trust Tencent.

Buying games later on Steam is better for us and worse for the sellout devs/publishers who decided to do this. The thing that makes EGS so bad is it's like console exclusivity but all on the same platform, exclusives imo are an artificial way to get sales, as you're not getting sales from having a good console

Also epic offers 13/87 split which is very good when we compared other platforms. It can be different for AAA titles. Also, Epic made some pre deals with developers to get exclusive on their platform which is a good deal for Crytek because they are on the financial crisis and need instant revenue to continue to develop next titles.

@@Gok. It's more about getting an upfront bag of money from Epic than the cut. If it was all about the cut, everyone would launch their games on Discord or sell them just from their own site. Marketshare / a big market of players interested in buying games is quite important, and I think you can use existing data to estimate that PC players won't necessarily follow a game regardless of launcher, given by how much more quickly games seem to sell on Steam compared to EGS sales estimates last year.

I am fine with it, since EPIC's strategy is to give free games on their platform, filling your library there (if you use their store), and thus slowly competing with Steam, still a long way, but it's getting there if it continues like this. I am Unreal Engine 4 Editor user, so I simply have to use, but I used it before I started to learn UE4 Editor. And you know what? Their strategy is actually working. I have game I once planned to buy, now I don't have to buy them :D such as GTA5, never bought it, but planned, few Batman series, I already had some on Steam, but I got Arkham Knight that I wanted but didn't had. And some other nice games for free, Indie, AA, and AAA titled games. Honestly, I understand why some portion of people dislike this exclusivity, because they have to get another platform besides Steam, and most people like to have all games in one place, but hey, it's not like it eats your RAM like Chrome or Mozilla, and it's not like having another platform really changes anything that much. Just switch it off in the automatic Starup programs and open it only when you want it. I have 6 launchers personally - Origin, EPIC, Uplay, Steam, Bethesda, GOG, and Battle. net (Blizzard thing, which I honestly never have used, but it doesn't bother me to have it there anyway). And I only start one of them up when I need or want, after that I just right click on the tray icon and close it when I am done. Obviously people will have issues with these multiple launchers if you never realized there's an option to turn them off in automatic start up, and obviously you will be annoyed by having all these launchers starting up and being active constantly without even knowing how to close them down until you want to use it again. Honestly it's real simple and easy to manage, as if it never was on your PC, and you wont need to install them when you actually need or want them for whatever reasons. People simply either lack the knowledge or never bothered to learn how to manage your softwares.

Well, asset design and the rendering pipeline are quite different now. Instead of using camera overlays and having fake effects baked into objects and maps, every little effect is now dynamically calculated by the computer in real time.

I do hope it comes to Steam store, but the Epic Store really celebrates the game creators. I am gonna try to buy more stuff from Epic to give Creators more of share than Steam.

@@PoeLemic I don't think so. They Epic, use their money to devide the pc community. There are ways to achieve good condition without punishing the end users who aren't the reason for steams pricing. Epic didn't care for developers before and they still doesn't. They only want to shine as a angel to force people to use their shitty shop. The only "good" shop is GoG but Nobody cares for them because like in real life nobody cares for the real good people.

@@germanCouchWarrior Steams pricing is to pay for all of the features Steam provides - features Epic doesn't have. Plus Epic charges an extra fee at checkout to compensate for the loss, so gamers pay more.

CD Projekt Red is the only company that cares about their clients. Valve keeps most of their games Steam exclusive also. Projekt Red doesn't do that, their products aren't GOG exclusive.

The point is that that's as far as they go with exclusivity, meanwhile Epic literally keeps buying developers off to become exclusive on their store, whilst Valve doesn't do any of that; they allow the devs to keep selling their games wherever they want, and then Epic talks about creating competition whilst doing exactly the opposite.

@@aras667 I don't like either platforms, and ever since GOG came out I tend to buy most games from there. Yes, it is hypocritical that Epic does that, but if you think about it, trying to take down a monopoly you have to oblige others to join your platform as well, otherwise if that game was on Steam as well, then the users would never think about getting it on Epic Store. It's a strategy to throw a wrench in the works for Steam. I don't think either platforms care about their customers, Epic might be giving away free games and seeming like they care, but that's only to attract new customers, if they reach a high market share, then they will be just like Steam, Origin, Uplay.... Maybe even worse.

Why should I care about percentage cuts when the game costs the same on either platform, and even more to the point, why would I purchase from Epic when I completely disagree with how they pay off devs/publishers for walled off exclusivity rights? Did you know that if the industry standard 30% were to be lowered, your other indie-driven storefronts like GOG would shut down? GOG already had to downsize their efforts because even 30% is barely cutting it. Did you know the % that EGS takes isn't sustainable, and they're only able to make up for the losses with Fortnite money? Did you know that the 30% that Steam takes is negotiable? If EGS was trying to be competitive and offer a better "deal", then why were they and still are, taking a higher % cut than what Discord's storefront was offering? And if that cut is all that actually mattered, why wasn't Discord's store competitive? This "large cut of the sales" wasn't even an issue until Tim Sweeney started throwing money around to manufacture it into an issue. Sweeney isn't your friend and why you actually believe any of the shit he's saying is beyond me. 30% is an industry standard for a reason.

@@kenneth9452 Steam takes 30% as base, but that is not what they get. First off, at certain sales goals, which a game of this stature would easily reach, it would go down to 20%. Which is already a lot closer to the 12% of the EGS. Then there is the fact that Steam allows publishers/developers to generate Steam keys to sell on other sales platforms with more beneficial models. Of these generated keys Steam does not see one cent. For some games the generated keys can be as high as 50% to 80% of the games install base on Steam. Then Steam is picking up the tab for a lot of payment processor and currency conversions fees, something EGS is not really doing. That, their huge, gobal infrastructure, the benefits that Valve brings to PC (Linux support, VR support, etc.), the features of the store and that they are not getting the 30% that everyone thinks, I think do support their case for the 30% base fee they take for their services. Services, I might add, that benefit both publisher/developer and the customer. EGS once touted that games would be cheaper on their store due to the cut. This didn't really happen, while they did buy out releases that were advertised or promised on other platforms shortly before release, whereas Valve only worked on providing a good platform to digitally release games. Epic, just like in the days of the XBox 360 and PS3, is doing its best to divide and sour PC gaming as a whole.

@@johnhandy9181 Neither does Steam, if you factor in all the things they that give devs. First there is the lower rates once certain sales goals are achieved, then there are the keys that publishers/devs can create for free to sell on other stores, of which Steam sees not one cent. In the end, especially for a title like Crysis, they would probably make have a similar 12%-15% rate, after all factors are calculated for, as they will on Epic. The only difference being, that a lot more people would buy it on Steam, meaning a lot more bucks for Crytek. Alas, they didn't want to.

@@h8breed288 Sure, you might not like the truth. The only difference between Steam and EGS is the up front money that Epic throws at the developers. However, any financially sane company would, in the end, probably go with, at least, a simlutaneous Steam release. You might also be insulting the accounting departments of EA and Microsoft, which have reverted to releasing their games on Steam again. Now, if that is because they made new contracts, giving them better conditions, or because their accounting departments said, that this is the way to reach a lot larger paying customer base, I don't know. But it might be a mix of the two. Anyway, with a simultaneous Steam release, they would have had a much larger inflow in money, than with the up front cash from EGS and would have lost a lot less of good will.

Monopoly is when you only allow something to be available to your platform, forever, and by force (i.e. everyone should work your way). EPIC has just put a deal, Crytek accept that, and made it exclusive for some time. That's not monopoly, that's business idiot.

Exclusive to their store...not their hardware. Theirs a HUGE difference...and it costs nothing to buy from epic and they have given free games for YEARS and they pay higher percentages to devs than ANYONE.

@@Rhedox1 Probably has an SSR fallback, but it mainly uses Sparse Voxel Octree GI (SVOGI), meaning no RTX. It's in the video description too. Crytek has been honing this technique for years. They put out the initial Voxel Cone Tracing paper nearly a decade ago too. Their recent Neon Noir demo was a good showcase of this technique.

well Digital Foundry just posted a tweet stating that Crysis remasterd will feature Ray Tracing on PS4 pro and Xbox One X using Cryteks own proprietary engine.

It will actually have Ray tracing yes. Crytek have made their own version that doesn't need hardware acceleration. Interesting stuff
