I think the same old Jason stalking in the woods with machete is worn out unless they can add a new twist somewhere. Focusing on where it all began is a perfect idea long overdue. Yup, it worked for Bates Motel and I think it can work in this series. I mean, if the 80's Friday The 13th series could be a hit without even mentioning Jason, so can this series. Victor can focus on the origins while Sean can focus on the Jason revival.
Agreed! As long as they do it right. You're absolutely right about Bates Motel, they proved it can be done. Though recently Victor and Sean have agreed to come together so maybe the show can extend into the films eventually.
This would be my script... First you have to understand the history of F13th including real life timelines of Betsy Palmer/Pam Voorhees. Real Life CAMP NOBEBOSCO aka Crystal Lake opened in 1927. The original mother of Jason played by Betsy Palmer was born a year before the real life camp opened from part 1, so that puts her at 16 in 1942. In the 1980 classic, 1958 is the year she made her first kills, so that puts her at 32, so Jason was born when Pam was 21 as I show age 11 of Jason at his death. That all said...this series should start with a young Pam Voorhees as a kid attending Camp at Crystal Lake sometime in the 30's when she is 8-10 yrs old, therefore we are introduced to Jason's grandparents. Going back this far allows us to build history for Pam in this series with Camp Crystal Lake. We would see Pam go from a young kid attending camp to becoming a counselor in the 40's when she is around 19-21 (remember Pam was 21 when she had Jason, SO.........This leads to my next point, PAM MEETS BOY AT CAMP AND THEY CONCEIVE JASON AT CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE further connecting Jason's link to this camp and the significance the camp holds over Jason. This boy becomes Pams husband. At this point, we step away from Crystal Lake and get into Jason's home life, we get back to getting to know his grandparents, parents, and possibly siblings if she had any more kids, maybe even a twin?!?! Jason's parents live right outside Crystal Lake and we witness life away from Crystal Lake in the town, his school and so on. Finally, Jason continues his parents tradition of summer camp and attends Crystal Lake around age 8, we get to experience life on Crystal Lake for Jason in quite a few episodes with his mother as the cook. This eventually leads up to the bullying, ignoring from counselors and PRESUMED DEATH (drowning) which I will get into soon... Jason's body is never recovered, Pam goes into depression leaving the camp and returning to home. PLOT TWIST: Jason never drowned, he faked his death to escape is abusive father and bullying at camp which pushed him over the edge. Jason is in communication with his siblings who help him survive in the wilderness; think of it like a disturbed young Michael Myers until Myers snapped as an adult finally, this is what happens to Jason, he is normal until he becomes an adult and starts to lose his mind. Jason's siblings build him the famous SHACK we all know from PART 2 (1981 movie), bring him food and clothes but keep his condition/whereabouts a secret from his parents. Now fast forward to 1958, Pam stalks the counselors after years of drinking and depression, kills the 2 (as we witnessed from part 1). We get into many episodes about the camp closing and eventual reopening in 1979-80. As we know Pam goes on another killing spree and beheaded, Jason gets word from his siblings that his mom is planning to kill from reading her diary. Jason eventually witnessed his mother's beheading and takes over the killing spree as we know it. And only now, do we get to Jason turning into a killing machine. Some other twists: Jason is reunited with his father after Pams death in the Shack after his father goes searching for him, siblings are helping Jason hide and dispose of bodies (incinerator maybe?) if say they work at the morgue (just free thinking here) ...And this can go on and on but that is how this all could get kick started
