It made me very sad to hear him say that he's never sat down at a table and eaten with his family. I've heard the statistics on families eating together and how important it is, and speaking from experience, I agree it's a wonderful bonding time that has a huge impact on the family dynamic and most likely, the emotional health of those who participate.

Bradley~ If by chance you happen to read this, I’m so sorry for the loss of your best friend, your brother. I truly believe that he’ll always be with you, and that one day you will be together again. I hope that you heal and find peace. I’m sorry for all the pain and suffering that life has brought you throughout your life. You seem like you have a beautiful soul and I wish nothing but love and joy for you. Keep fighting, keep persevering. Keep remembering the joy you felt when you were clean, and that you had the strength and courage to get clean before. So I know that you’re able to do it again, and for good. I believe in you, I see you, and I too don’t want you to die alone. You can do this. Please don’t ever give up. My baby brother, Danny, is forever 22. We lost him to a heroin/ fentanyl overdose on July 15, 2017. We have a similar childhood, being that my family was dysfunctional and devoid of love, and I too have a TBI from a car accident. Sending you love. 🩷🌟

I’ve probably watched about 75% of the videos on this channel. This one hit home more than any other one I’ve seen. It was like watching someone else tell my life story. Aside from the bombing, I’ve walked the same path as Bradley. Long term addiction, several rehabs, going to California for treatment, falling in love while there (2 different times), being heartbroken, and going back to bad habits. I was fortunate to be able to keep a roof over my head for the 2 & a half years out there, but it was a miserable experience all in all. I was on skid row everyday as well. I just moved back to my hometown, and I’m still stuck. I feel all the embarrassment and shame of being a junkie, more than ever. I feel like this is just how I’m going to be forever. If you ever read this Bradley, keep your head up dude. I’m not in any position to shell out advice, but I heard you today, and felt every word you said.

I understand it man. I'm currently 5 years clean from heroin and crack. Living homeless in a truck with 3 other people...(2 of them are dead from OD) all my friends are dead. I've died a few times and had to get Narcanned 4 different times..only to get out of the hospital and get high again, thinking that I was invincible. My mind...just couldn't stop craving. Stop wanting that release. And dreading the withdrawals that were sure to come... the withdrawals aren't as bad as we say they are. Whether it happens in jail, in a rehab facility or detox... at this point, I have more to lose if I use again... and tbh the only thing that got me my apartment, good warehouse job, and jeep and good trusting relationship with my family again was me being on M.A.T. Methadone saved my life. I'm not on a huge dose..and it has such a stigma to it because there are people that abuse it, but I'm slowly coming off of it and it has led me to get my life back again. There are other options too. Suboxone strips, Subutex, Vivitrol shot. Rehab after rehab after rehab...and after that, doing recovery homes. Yeah it's something that I didn't want to do, but I was tired of dying.. a small part of me kept me alive for some reason..maybe it was simply the prayers of loved ones saying that I had something to live for .. that life was worth living. Take it one day at a time. Keep trying. You are not alone. No matter what you think. ❤

Did rehab after years of being on fen, been out, in a different city. Go back home, get treated like a junkie. Clean almost a year, but still feel like no one gives a fuck about me. Want to keep me tucked away in a drawer. I never stole, robbed,etc. Just wanted to get clean. Feel real empty still though. It's a fucked up feeling. Thanks for your comment. I can relate with it and Brad about how no one gives a fuck. Wanna go get a big ass tattoo says JUNKIE on my back. Cause even clean, I am treated just the same.

Your guest is so self aware. He is definitely redeemable. And precious.
@JacksonDunnoKnows
@JacksonDunnoKnows 3 месяца назад
(please forgive my long paragraph/ramble) He is redeemable. The scope of this entire "topic" is more than vast. There is a mixture of the want, the proper time, the literal cost in currency and more. He is self aware, he knows that he's made bad choices. He seems legit, just stuck. For me, and my experience, to get clean, and stay clean, something larger has to happen in life that you want more. That sentence seems so obvious, right? But it's not. It can be different for each individual. For some it's risking jail, it could be the chance to have a family, having a child or even a chance to move to a new place(fresh start). For some, a god, or religion can be it. For me, it's been family and all the good things that it can evolve into. I've had two long term clean portions of my life. Both were kick-started by family. I was my mothers full time care giver at 16, and juggling a heroin addiction. Over 2 years. All the Dr appointments, oxygen tank deliveries, refills, meds, food, the chamber pot ect. She knew I experimented with stuff, but didn't know it was so deep. One night she wanted a snack, and I didn't respond, and she hobbled out of her room and found me nodding out, with all my shit on the table in front of me. (I snorted and smoked it). She was beyond hurt and angry. We argued, and I was given the ultimatum of either getting the help, and a recovery program, or being kicked out and having the rest of the family know. She would have possibly died without my help, but she was gonna risk it. I chose to get clean. She saw me clean for a year before she passed. I had just turned 19. I went 5 or so years off of it. My mistake was continuing to use other stuff. (A lot of pot, beer, way way too many psychedelics) And it led me to a relapse. Only a month, but I knew that if I didn't get clean again, my wife(gf at the time) would leave, and I wouldn't be able to be a part of my son and now my daughters life. Currently I have another 6/7 "I've lost count"years under me, and I work the recovery program daily. I even tried to smoke pot here and there, some beers with the bros, but I had to stop all that as well. 7 months off beer, and 5 off pot. (And not to down pot and beer, it can really be medicinal for people. Unfortunately not me. It leads to curiosity. "Man, a good nod off would be nice, or man, my collarbone hurts, some junk would be great( I shattered my collarbone in wrestling, which started the harder stuff. A lot of oxy was given to me). But now, I have the great family, an honest job, and I'm a part of a great Brazilian Jujitsu team, as well as a boxing team. Martial Arts is so much of a better "drug"... But back to it, something major has to happen that one wants more, that they are willing to do the work for, to through the pain and repressed emotions. It's sad that some never find it. Have a great day unknown RU-vid commentor friend!

Find me an addict who's trauma, technically childhood trauma, isn't the catalyst to their chemical dependency & I'll show you a medical anamoly. It's amazing he's not an opioid addict too...if he wasnt. Please tell this young man SOMEONE cares. I know i don't know him but this alabama boy cares. Our trauma is different but i suffered sexual, physical, mental abuse as a child before 3 years old, nearly fatal motorcycle wreck in 09, on veterans day, nearly died in the marine corps, & that's not even the half...so i see the pain in his eyes & it's heart shattering.

Bradley, I lost my brother when I was 17. It took me 6 years to grieve. He meant the world to me. We are all searching for it all to make sense. As a Christian myself, I trust that God has a plan. That hasn't always been easy, but it's given me hope in very dark times. My husband has PTSD, TBI, and finally bucked addiction late last year. It's been 15 years in this ride, but he's back and we're working on rehabbing our relationship. I share that to give you hope ... I believe in you,,you got this. I'm gonna give you a quick readers digest version of my life. I started using at 26 with Percocet and then as time went on I just kept getting higher milligrams. I've never done heroine or meth but I was so deep in my addiction I thought how will I ever stop? At 50 for whatever the reason I was ready to get clean and I did I'm 53 now and my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. My family never gave up on me and I dk why but so grateful they didn't. Now my life is so much better and I'm not gonna say I'm living beyond my wildest dreams. That may come for people right away,, but not for me. I'm just blessed in other ways like having a special and tight knit relationship with my sister andbest friend, and it's so nice because now she trusts me and it's a great feeling. I can say I'll never go back but who knows the answer to that but I'd like to think that. I'm too old to be doing that shit. I forgot why I was telling you this,, oh yeah don't wait till your 50 like I did. You could still obtain being a dad and having the right support system.

This touched me. Mark went somewhere he usually doesn't go, and I wish he would more often. He asked Bradley what is holding him back, what he needed to do to get back on the beam. Bradley has had a tragic life -- broken home, the Oklahoma City bombing, overweight, bad choices, his brother's suicide -- but he has been to the good places before, and I think he knows that he can get back. But he also knows it won't be easy. That's a big start. Go home and try again. Best wishes, sir.

Hes a very likeable person, he strikes me as the kind of person who i can sit down and have conversations with. At least he is honest, hopeful, and has a very positive outlook on life. The talk at the end about how he values love shows that he is a very good soul. Its sad how some of the best people here on earth end up in such horrible situations. I pray that he gets sober, off the streets and lives a happy, healthy life 🙏

I’ve always been a good read of a person and hopefully that’s the case because I can see Bradley’s going to make it..There’s a thriving future out there for you. Not one where you are constantly trying to be sober. But one where you’re a success, one where you’re at peace and experiencing such love and joy that you no longer remember the feeling of constantly trying to stay sober. It’s worth the investment Bradley. Go and get it!

I’ve watched a few episodes of SWU and what strikes me most is how vulnerable the interviewees let themselves be and odd that we, as human beings don’t take that into the real world. Not necessarily every day. I know for myself I need a breather and have become more comfortable being at home alone. I enjoy my environment. With that, watching and most of all, listening to and feeling your interviews makes me so aware of my judgements about people like Bradley, without knowing who they are or where they come from. Everybody walks a different path in life for whatever reason, can anyone say explicitly? It is only conjecture. I feel so much compassion for Bradley. I have no place to tell him how his life should be. I wish you the best for whatever path you take. The ending is so beautiful and moving. With all the challenges you’ve had in your life, the most important thing to you is when you love someone, do whatever it takes to show that your love to another person. How many people can ever say that?

He's an example of an ADHD'er going off track, getting lost, and self medicating. My daughter in recovery brought to my attention that many addicts seem to have ADHD in common and addictions began just by chance trying a drug and feeling "better."

Not to mention the egregious over-prescribing of stimulants for ADD and ADHD that has been going on for years. I suspect the percentage of children and young adults who actually need these medications is much lower than the millions who are given them.

I mean what ever works for you but the amount of times I've fell to my knees praying to God to just guide me or help in anyway possible and honestly just got silence...not a religious person but spiritual and yeah tried prayer and God and yeah...nothing came. No signs. No like motivation towards health. After months I decided I needed to do something luckily had loving family/friends and they helped me through, get into treatment, got clean been clean almost a year from last relapse. Completely relying on God without putting in tons of work yourself like nothing will happen. God and prayer should be used as a subtle thing that helps with mentality that some "higher above" is helping, which it might be, but it's in such subtle ways you won't notice and definitely can't get you to stop dope withdrawals? Do what works I guess but I suggest not relying fully on prayer. That dangerous because when something horrible happens to you it can shatter you because you will think "why has God abandoned me"....
