Upgrading the headlights on the Civic to something that matches a bit better the LED strips. Quick comparison of Phillips, Sylvania, and OEM options. It's not a perfect match but installing LEDs on this car requires some extra parts, and I don't like the options I have. Trying to keep a factory look under the hood, I think I'll avoid LEDs, at least for now.

I had both the zxe and the crystal vision on my wife's Traverse . I had the set low and fog zxe they give out a crisper white light but around 7 months one of my low beam went out. I switch the whole set for the Phillips and I have a little over a year with them and they are still working pretty good. I think the zxe have a brighter light that's why they go faster. But I love both. Right now I'm running the ZXE Gold on my silverado, we'll see how long they'll last. They are way brighter than the regular zxe

TheNineTwo When I had the Zxe white lights on my car they would look white at night only but during the day it is still at yellowish

Did the same comparison with my truck and car, I couldn’t tell the difference between the $30 Crystal visions ultras and the far more expensive ZXE golds. Definitely not worth it

DRL. Your high beams are on at half voltage when running Daytime Running Lights. Many drivers are on DRL ALL the time....sigh.

I can only assume the life of the high beam is estimated to be more because its not in use nowhere near as much as your low beam. When I run silverstars I usually run ZXE low beam, SS ultra in the highs then zxe in fogs. I will say that another less talked about bulb I really like is the Putco Mirror White bulbs.

The thing is, it shows it in hours. Obviously they are used less so they will last longer. But the burn time is what they are measuring the life span in. So it doesn't make a lot of sense, as to why they would be able to burn for twice the amount of hours.

@RXOlivencia - Have you by chance done any longevity tests? Do the Putco's last longer and if they do how much longer and do they cost more vs the SSU's(?)

@@__WJK__ I have, Putco seems to last just a shade longer than Sylvania. But with the readily availability of LED's I'd research a few brands like Sealight or Alla Lighting on amazon (I've had very good experience with both)

@@AppalachianDIY Late to this party but I'm wondering if longer duty cycles at a lower output as a DRL might be why it may supposedly last longer. I had a pair of zXe 9003 bulbs last from December 13, 2013/377k miles to July 25, 2020/495k miles. I do a lot of night driving trips over two hours at a time so maybe the longer than average duty cycle contributed to my pair lasting that long.

I have a question the crystal vision ultra in the projector headlights of your civic look pure white, like a LED white ?

They are pretty white, but not LED white. The strips around the edge of the headlights are LED. You can compare it to them and see the difference.

@@AppalachianDIY do these lights last a very long time i don't have day running lights so my lights only come on at night when i drive. i have a 2004 grand marquis and i wanted some better lights jusy brighter and no hid lights what do you recommend

The high beam is last forever because you don’t use it often .

That depends on driving habits.. if you do tons of night driving on a highway, more rural/country area you will use the brights sometimes a few hours in one week. Take the 100hrs average of the ZXE lifespan and that’s not very long.

For bulbs that will burn out in 3 months, none of these really not worth the extra cost.

Can't tell much by that kind of comparison ,,,likelooking at a hundred watt light bulb and a 75-watt light bulb from 3 in away and trying to tell the difference....

I dont like these overpriced upgraded halogens they dont last long enough plus there are 1:1 leds now that are brighter

The problem is leds blind other people like my truck doesn’t have the projector so when i had lasfit leds on them i lowerd them so much but still blinded people due to led not having good pattern in my reflecter headlights

@xxdropdeadxx6679 I have leds in projector housings on my bmw and they dont cause any glare, I also had them in regular housings and they were fine as long as you research the bulbs you are getting

@@FELIPE8226M can’t find good ones tried lasfit but beam pattern wasn’t great n had some other one from amazon 120 watt gave me issues my headlights would shut down so was asking for too much power im currently rocking stock halogen bulbs

Just bought a set of Phillips and have the Sylvanias in my Shelby now. The Sylvanias match the HID color almost perfectly. I bought the Phillips Ultra for my daily driver Mustang GT. I'll let you know. Thanks
