I’ve had bad experiences with leather covers that feel spongy.there’s usually a small layer of foam in between to make it feel thicker.the problem is the leather doesn’t stick well to the foam and starts creating air pockets starting from the spine and outward.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews not i haven't bought that bible but i already had 3 bibles that had that "spongey" feel to the goat leather and they start to peel apart from the inside. I'm guessing it's because they give you a super thin layer of goat skin then add foam to make it feel thicker.
Ahh bursted my bubble with the comment about cheaper bibles usually have pages stuck together. That’s my FAVORITE part of getting a new bible, going through and separating all the pages. Hahaha
So I was reading recently about the csb and something interesting hit me. When the HCSB was in its early stages, the main person overseeing the translation was Arthur Farstad. He was a major part of the completion of the NKJV. He was going to translate the HCSB using the same NT textual basis as the NKJV which is the textus receptus. After his death, they went with the Koine Greek as the NT base. Just got to thinking, imagine having a translation that’s right in the middle of the word for word and thought for thought that’s based from the textus receptus! I would love that.
Shows how hard it is to make a high quality Bible !! Schuyler makes it seem so easy and ruins it for all these other “premium” Bibles. Thank you for sharing an honest review !!
While Schuyler has their own set of issues, they also aren’t playing the same game. They print low volume and use the highest quality vendors and materials. It also shows in the price tag as a Schuyler costs more than double what you can get one of these or a Premier Collection for.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I’m kinda new to the premium game… what type of issues does Schuyler have ? I have their NIV Quentel and it is pretty AWESOME. Def worth the money. Thomas Nelson with their premier collection has been doing some fantastic work at a lower price point. I guess as the old saying goes, you kinda get what you pay for :)
@@KevinSavedByGrace same issues anyone else has. Flaws, mistakes, occasional misprint, a certain step missed or not well done. Nothing crazy, just meaning even Schuyler has issues with all the care they put in.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thas fair :) the only issue I’ve had with my Bible is that the cross references, which are at the bottom in the Quentel, do not line up linearly with the verse number. It goes a little above, a little below, and someone times is printed diagonally. I was told that it is acceptable deviation by Schuyler unless the text itself overlaps another line. No biggie, but I was surprised when I first saw it. I absolutely LOVE the 36 gsm creamy paper and the large Milo font though. That makes the Schuyler Bible for me :)
I know the early runs of the VbV had a really thin layer of foam between the cover and liner that gave it that spongy feel.. I don’t know if it was an attempt to make the leather feel nicer than it was or what.. maybe they are still doing that..
You did a good job on this Review. Goatskin Bibles are not something I ever want to own. Why would I ever want a Holy Bible covered in Goatskin? I wouldn't. 🌄
@@christianrockmusiccollective ~ Thanks for responding. Don't mind me Tim. I love your videos 🤗. I just don't like goatskin for a Bible cover. Just takes my mind to Scripture concerning the sheep and the goats What does Jesus say about the goats? 🤔 Remember??
