CSX's River Line, a former New York Central property, cuts through the middle of Iona Island, the largest island in a small archipelago of islands on the Hudson River near Fort Montgomery, NY. A former army ammunition depot, Iona Island remains one of the premiere railfanning locations on the entire River Line.
A brief visit to the area during my Summer 2021 jaunt was quite enjoyable. Traffic was light and power was predominantly GEVOs and AC44s, but a few surprises did find their way across my viewfinder.
