These are some routine clips of CSXT 1723 testing in Erie. The stillness and cloud cover allowed for better sound recording. #CSXT #csxtransportation #wabtec #ET23DM #SD40-2
If you ever look up videos of a British diesel called a Class 20, at full power they sound remarkably similar to this thing. Love the prime mover sound on these new units but I'm not really impressed by the horn.
Yall built that !AND IT IS SO VERY UGLY!AND IS HAS A TERRIBLE SOUND TO IT!OVERALL, THIS IS ANOTHER FAILURE OF A BUILDER TO ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE SD40-2 INTO SOMETHING ELSE THAN JUST REBUILD IT BACK TO WHAT IT WAS!THIS THING IS UGLY AND IT IS TERRIBLE!
@@stephankoenig5481 Also, i think i asked you this but i can’t recall the answer. Can you confirm or deny if the roadnumbers are being changed to 10 and 11 from its previous 010 and 011? Thanks.
KLW rebuilds older EMD units with Cummins prime motors. The ST23-T4's are actually rebuilt by GE/Wabtec despite originally being EMD SD40-2's. Regardless,if this was a CAT/PRLX rebuild it would've been another failure just like the SD70AH-T4's.
@@David50068 creo que es mas que obvio camarada, solamente es un comentario "Humorista" ya que soy muy fanático de las locomotoras que produjo EMD en cualquier esquema de ferrocarril, saludos!
the war crime committed against this poor Sd40 should count as a crime against humanity... excuse me while i go set up for it's next test so i can play the taps when it goes by. rip sd40 freind you were loved. im so sorry for what the mad scientsist at ge did to you lol
@@thedwaynerailfans Nope,it's emissions regulations that's the real reason for the ST23-T4's for CSX.The GP40-2's & SD40-2's aren't falling apart, they've remained intact for many years. In modern times where modern GE units overthrow newer EMD units for good reasons, that series has continued to outlive and remain reliable compared to anything else. There is nothing wrong with the 645 series except heavier carbon footprint which is why the EPA made sure EMD discontinued production even though the company was already making serious mistakes and falling behind compared to GE. This product just might become an example of trying to make a perfect outcome better when actually it's becoming worse.
What fresh hell is that?! Just when I thought they couldn’t get any worse than those horribly ugly rebuilt cabs, they go and throw a GE engine block in an EMD! A scrapper’s torch would’ve been more dignified than what they did to this thing. Good grief.
The SD40-3's from CSX,Norfolk Southern,Canadian Pacific, and Canadian National do just fine including all other EMD -3 rebuilds. I'm uncertain what these ST23-T4's will present in the future though...As much as I prefer the modern GE units over the newer EMD units because of traction, the GP40-2's & SD40-2's were always perfect as is...There never has been anything wrong with the EMD 645 series for the most part... Because of emissions regulations,I think this is a product that's an attempt at making something "better" when it's been reliable for many years with no issue.
TheyTOK HER AND RUINED HER! THIS THING JUST AINT GONNA CUT IT IN HEAVY HAUL SERVICE. IF IT EVER COMES OUT IN HO SCALE MODELS, IM NOT WASTING MY MONEY ON IT!ILL BUY CONVENTIONAL SD40-2 S FOR MY LAYOUT BEFORE I BUY THIS UGLY THING!
I'm NOT IMPRESSED WITH THIS UGLY LOCOMOTIVE!IT SOUNDS LIKE OLD BALDWIN 606SC ENGINE!THIS THING IS NOT A GOOD INVESTMENT! THIS IS ANOTHER WAY TO RUIN A RELIABLE LOCOMOTIVE!
