I just got one of these tractors. I love it! The Intellipower feature is excellent when you get in thick grass. The tight turning radius is excellent for getting around obstacles. This machine replaced a 15yr old John Deere that was tired but still running. This machine cuts better than the Deere did brand new. Much better turning radius, much better cut height adjustment. The Deere had a V twin engine and this machine seems to pull just as hard with one cylinder thanks to the Intellipower feature. It's easier on gas too.
No disrespect but I don't think you're comparing apples to apples. You should have checked out the new John Deere's. Don't fix anything that's not broke, if it's still trucking after 15 years. My money would have went to the new John Deere
Never ever b cylinders. 2 cylinders give balance. One shakes the engine not only causing bolts to vibrate and fun to find afterwards and it vibrates the Machine and the drivers. MTD builds 75% off lawn/ garden tractors. All junk. I'm looking for a new tractor and can't find any that are built to last. They are built to fail, and so is any cell phone. Even John Deere has a plastic transmission on one of their products, which is experiencing failure which was reported inless than 20 hours. I wouldn't buy any tractor with a B&S, Kohler, I hear Kawasaki is promising.
I just bought one that hasn't been delivered yet. I did extensive research on all 42" mowers and settled on this one. The videos and reviews simply confirm that I made the right choice.
I just bought this model cub cadet last week and used it one time,, , I really like it alot,,, cuts very very well, and I have a slanted yard, bottom part is steep as well..But it did very good job cutting it,...It did not slow down well going thru some moist areas around my shed ...is always wet there daily,, is a creek in my woods by my shed, that I mow weekly...did a great good...thank you for the video there...I was confused on how to use the reverse on it,,wasnt sure how to engage it, to get it to work and all...but now I see here how to turn key back one notch, then hit the triagle til it turns red...Great video, thank you much........!!!
Just got this mower! Homedpot didn’t send the owners manual! So this video was great! You have a lawn that kinda looks like mine bumpy and weeded! Thanks for the great help!
I also have the 2020 model XT1 42" Enduro and it is really a nice mower. The turning radius is so nice that I couldn't justify another $1000 for a zero radius mower. Yes, I would have liked having one, but I am married. Need I say more? Like you mentioned, the mower has stiff springs under the seat, but I think they will get more comfortable as the mower is used each week. The faster you mow, the more noticeable the stiffness in the ride. Ride 'em cowboy!
I have a John Deere and every mowing season I spend a couple hundred dollars getting it fixed. Main problem is the belts. I'm not the only one. My friends and son have the same issues. Everyone I know tells me to buy a Cub Cadet. After watching this video, I am convinced. Thank you...you were great and funny at explaining everything. I'm a senior woman and mow a little over an acre. Okay, off I go to buy a new Cub Cadet XL46 Enduro!
I've had my mower 12 years and never done that once. Changes blades 3 times and sharpened 3 times. I clean out with a plastic scraper and a brush. No rust anywhere under there. I rinse off the top once a year. It still runs and looks like new.
I just bought one today from Home Depot. Not a big fan of Home Depot but they Give 10% off to Veterans. The Mower was 1700 with the 3 year warranty and I paid another 210 for an additional 3 years , It cost me a little over 1600 out the door.
@@ToolReviewZone Your Very Welcome Sir, And thank you for your acknowledgement. Also I Suscribed to your Channel after Browsing through it. Very interesting content I look forward to watching.
I got the 2019 XT1 last year primarily to plow snow but it's awesome cutting the lawn. Tip....To use the washout port properly lower the mowing deck all the way down to the ground! Nice video!
I got to use mine for the first time yesterday. I could feel the Intellipower kick in! Steers great. I installed the yellow bumper. I want the electric spreader next. It is not much more than a tow behind spreader
Sorry to Hear about your Dad, I Lost My Mom A Year ago July and My Dad this past March. They were very Kind to my Sister and Me Very Loving and Kind Christian Parents , So I Bought the New Cub Cadet today as I needed a New mower , He LOVED Cub Cadet. I Pray Your Dad didn't suffer. My Dad Had Alzheimers and was 80, He was doing quite Well til Mom died, They were Married for 55 years, Then He gave up and just wanted to go be with His Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven and My Mom. I pray your Family is at Peace and again, I know how you feel and I'm sorry.
Picked up this thing in March I have roughly 12 hours on it, it’s super comfy to drive plenty of power to get into the long grass and not crazy expensive!
I love this tractor, I used one on my father's grass when I was younger (like 50 years ago) but then I used John Deere, last year when Deere was on strike I moved to cub cadet I as I said it's fantastic. Just wanted to let you know.🤠
WHILE WATCHING THIS I LITERALLY, GOT A TEXT SAYING MINE WOULD BE DELIVERED ON TODAY 46 INCH GREATTTT I WAS EXPECTING IT LATER THIS WEEK SO I GUESS THE BLACKCAT THAT RAN IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE 13TH WAS GOOD LUCK LOL GOOD REVIEW
Just received my new mower and its my very first time using a riding mower period. Looking forward to doing so. Gathering all the info I can about it before I begin. Still have not completely uncrated it yet. I'm doing this all by my little ol' lonesome, sooooo...😒😕😋
Great video.. I just bought one today. Actually, they just delivered it 5mins ago.. Havent used it yet was trying to figure it out.. I have NEVER had a rider before, thanks for this video... I cant wait to use it on my new home lawn(1acre)...
Wow this is the best video I've seen explaining the mower. I just got mine on Tuesday and didn't quite understand how the Intellipower feature worked. Oddly enough, it's not included in the instructions.
ordering mine tomorrow thanks for the review almost bought a John deer luckily something happened with my credit card when I was at store funny how things work
I purchased the CC with the 46 inch deck in the XT1 Enduro Series. It has the same engine with a fabricated deck. It does not have the intellipower though. I just keep it about three thirds throttle when mowing and when I hit a wet thick batch of grass, I physically crank it to full throttle. With 40 hours on it and two mowing seasons, it performs flawlessly and takes a third less gasoline then my other mower with the Kawi engine in 48 inch cut.
Great job. I just bought this a few days ago and am going to try it very soon. This video gave me a lot of info on EXACTLY HOW TO USE IT ! thanks, Dan from Gallatin, Tennessee .
I have a new craftsman 46-in in my buddy bought the 42-in Cub cadet the Cub cadet is better built tractor has two steering arms up to the steering mechanism where craftmans only has one ! The intelli power is nice option also! More expensive than Craftsman but you get what you pay for!
Excellent review. I just bought this mower and had a few questions about it's use and it was covered well and all it's features. Thanks again and can't wait to put this mower to work.
62 hrs and mine took a crap. Ran fine last time used then I was surprised with black smoke and ran like a stuck choke. Dealer noticed exhaust leak at the engine gasket. Gasket is backordered. I found one on Ebay and gave it to them. New gasket, cleaned plug and air filter and all better now. Hard to believe an exhaust gasket leak took it out of commission
Tested it out today. It’s really nice. Easy to use drives great. Lots of cutting power. Let the wife drive it. She likes it. Now looks like I’ll be using the weed eater while she rides.
Senior lady here. I've had my 42" Cub Cadet for a couple of years. Wish I'd been more RU-vid savvy when I bought the mower. Not much of a reader so your video 'walked' me thru some things I didn't realize. My problem is the belt keeps coming off lately! Daughter was here and showed me how to simply put it back on the spindle. BUT, the whole one side is off now! Not sure why it keeps coming off and would appreciate knowing what I should readjust or whatever to keep the belt in place.
Hi Kma! Firstly, thanks for the comment. Secondly, over time, belts get worn and stretched. I will almost guarantee that you belt is worn, and a replacement is pretty cheap. That said, one way to prevent that from happening is to come to a complete stop before engaging the blades as this puts more strain on the belts.
@@ToolReviewZone I admit I'm a little rough on it! I'll do my best with a complete stop in the future. Friend get down and sure enough, the belt is almost to the point it needs to be replaced. Thanks.
@Tool Review Zone: Hey, have 3 important questions for you: 1) The new cub cadet mower has the "cub cadet" engine instead of the old reliable Kohler engines it had before. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. 2) The newer cub cadet mower's have the TL200 transmission's which are bad and they had something else before. Thoughts? 3) Everything is great till your cub cadet tractor has ANY issues. Cub Cadet has the WORST warranty customer service on the planet. You can check their records. They never pick up calls on purpose. They will do NOTHING for you and brush you off one way or another despite still being on their full warranty. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
Possibly let some air out of the tires because from factory they put way too much in, so you should get a softer ride. I believe another guys channel said he put 14 pounds in tires.
I live in a trailer park, i can make 2 passes on one side of my trailer and 1 pass on the other.. I am never gonna walk my lawn again come Monday when my XT1 42 inch shows up !
I have a ltx1042kw and love it except for the oil change outlet .I have 4 wheels on the deck and hate that they went back to 2 wheels .I love the glove box I have and yes do love the side grip handles .I love my clothe seat because it is cooler and you do not slip back and forth on it .I hate that they put the gas gage window on the side because mine faces me so I can see it .So far I have resealed the ohv valve cover and changed deck and drive belts and oil ,air and gas filters 2 times a year sometimes 3 times .I also bought the gator blades for mine 3 years ago and what a great investment they were ,I just had to change the PTO cable also Cheaply made thing as it is .I have 222 hours on my 2016 model and I have 3 acres with the front yard being a hill .But I do have problems there because ziosa grass is very slippery .On wet grass I have found that shoot gets clogged .I solved that by drilling a hole in the shoot and putting a wire through it and bringing the wire up and looping it around the grab handles on the mower and this way I can lower it when I want too or keep it raised
Excellent review! Fun video to watch, great editing. However, I still would have chosen the XT2 model solely based off of better quality from an official dealer vs. buying a model from a box store.
Tool Review Zone well I’ve mowed twice and I love it. Turning radios and ease of speed control is great. I installed the mulching kit and it does so well I don’t see any clippings in the wake of the tractor. I believe I made the right choices with my purchase and looking forward to not giving money to someone else to mow my lawn which is so easy to do myself with this tractor.
Darn it, Dom! No parking on the lawn! Good thing he laid marks gettin outta there! 🤣 Awesome and thorough review, Clint. Btw, surely you sprayed herbicide after mowing to kill off those dandelions, right? 🤔 Thanks, stay healthy, and God bless! 😁👍
I'm torn between this & the Craftsman T210 Turn Tight. They both make the same power I think although Cub Cadet has more cc. My problem is besides preferring red which I know is petty. The craftsman has a 5" turning radius compared to this Cub Cadets 16". Damnit I need both turning radius & be able to go through thick wet goatheads & wild grass with ease. I can't find anyone comparing both either, please if you know someone who's bought that craftsman. Do an actual mowing drag race & see which cuts quicker, factoring cub cadets turning handicap.
What's up Mike. The two most popular mowers in my area in Ohio is Cub and Husqvarna. Not sure why, but I almost never see anyone with a Craftsman. I owned one years ago, but that was when they were sold at Sears and couldn't even buy the replacement blades in the store. Sorry I cant help more
@@ToolReviewZone I missed a deal on a 21 horse Husqvarna last week. Seat was trash but it was only $600. Sold so fast I never had chance to ask how many hours were on it. Oddly the lady wanted 1k for a similar but lower powered craftsman just because it had a nicer seat.
I grew up with using an old fashioned walk behind push mower and am looking at the LT42 rider-seriously! Am hoping you have a "walk behind" grass clipper, for purchase, I want that as well! Doug🤓👍
Really considering this for my next tractor. My current ride is gonna let me sit sooner than later. I really like the bagger attachment too. Working good for you still?
I just went out and bought a 1984 782 diesel cub cadette and it is mowing great one of the best mowers I have ever owened I have a 2011 1042 cub cadette and it is a piece of shit breaks belts for mower blades all the time I have spent a crap load of money on it time to sell it my 782 is here to stay
what cc's or hp is yours because the ones I see this year say 547cc's ad that can be any where from 17 to 19 hp .I am thinking of buying another cub cadet so I can make mowing faster for me .Right now I have a troy built and it is as slow as a turtle and turning it is horrible .I am glad you made this video as it helps me see what this intellipower stuff means
I found one of these on Facebook for $1200 with 40 hours on it. All cub cadets are sold out right now new in my area. What do you think about this deal? How’s yours holding up?
Mine still runs amazing. That's actually not a bad deal really for only 40 hours. I'd try to offer them 1k and see what they say, but it'd a great mower
drop that deck down to the ground when you use the hose attachment and it should work better. Being close to the ground does something to the air flow and whatnot and makes it clean better. "Steve's small engine saloon" did a video on it.
I bought this mower last year and planned on it serving me for several years. I was proud of my new mower! I changed the oil and filter at 4.8 hours and used it most of last summer. It sat in my carport during the winter. I changed the oil and filter again at 11.1 hours before using it this spring. I had been using it approximately 15 - 20 minutes when I heard a loud bang and it stopped immediately. I took it to an authorized service center and after contacting MTD (Cub Cadet Corporate) they will not cover the warranty and fix my almost brand new mower! I talked to corporate and asked them what I could have done to prevent this, and their answer was they wished they could tell me, but they are not going to fix my mower. I will never buy another Cub Cadet product, nor recommend to anyone I know! Through no fault of my own, this mower turned out to be highly defective, and Cub Cadet is being penny wise and dollar foolish!
I am looking at these now. It looks like some of them no longer have Kholer engines in them. They have cub cadet engines that were designed in the US and made in China. Does anyone have any experience with these engines and are they as reliable as the Kholers?
So I went to pick mine up yesterday, and started the machine, It was very loud and sounded like it was trying to run on CHOKE. ( all my older tractors had a mechanical throttle lever ) this new one has the Intellipower Control. As It started, it was spitting and sputtering, and as I was turning the knob, there was no difference. I felt that something was wrong , so I had to leave it there until a mechanic has another look at it. Quite disappointed, and I'm sure it will be rectified. Do you have any idea what it may be ? Great video thanks.
Hi, just purchased the XT1LT42 with IntelliPower. Yes as someone mentioned more things to go wrong.. IMHO more good things to make this chore more enjoyable. My question what is the optimum height for the ANTI scalp wheels? I wish they had put 4 on.. what ever. QUESTION: Why is their only 1 bolt on the back of the seat (see it at 2:15 of your video.) Puzzling. Secondly, is a MULCH cover really needed? I bought extreme MULCHING blades but passed on their kit. TIA.
@@shawnengles8771 Thx for responding... I have the NEW mulch blades coming. Looking forward to seeing how much better they cut with the stock blades that came with the machine, Stay Healthy and safe.
looks great but not sure about the reverse I have to do a lot of backing up as I have a lot of trees some I can't get between, Plus it would be nice if they went to an 11 ga. deck . One of the problems with my John Deer was where the castings for the blades attached to the deck bent and the blades were no longer cutting flat. I was looking at the Cub "o" turns but to wide to get in a lot of places and some places just to hilly, around the trees.
I just ordered mine 5-20-2020 and cant wait. I couldn't walk behind due to an injury and got tired of paying a service. I used to care for my lawn and it was the envy of my neighbors and can't wait to get it back in shape with this mower. good luck with yours.
I almost got mine from HD. I got it for the same price at a tractor dealer that is authorized to work on them. Joplin, MO Thank you for your service sir
stwrthaas14 Thank you for your service! I bought mine from H.D. Tracking for the unit says it should be delivered the 5/27. We’ll see? Pretty excited and hope I’m not let down.
Is it suppose to "coast" when you let off the pedal? My old CC didnt and when the transmission was engaged it wouldn't move at all when you pushed it .You really did a fantastic review. You should send to Cub Cadet.
Thanks so much Rick for the awesome comment my friend. When you let of the gas, it does come to a stop just like to mentioned. I don't think I've ever used the brakes on my Cubs. Welcome to the channel Rick!!!!
