CUB CADET left us out to dry on some simple upgrades on the ZT 1 . a Horn. backup mirrors, seat cable, mudflaps, Arm Rests, hub caps, Chute control and more! You'll have to look! Warning do not do this at home!
@re9473 me too. But it's all either scrap I had laying around or stuff on Amazon that newer stuff will be available soon after I posted. So just throwing ideas around what you can do.
Just bought one myself and the first thing I thought was getting a phone holder to attach to the right control arm for music! :D Nice Kawasaki stickers too!
Like your additions. They are simple but useful. I added a speedometer and a herbicide sprayer attached to the frame for small spot treatments as I mow over a weed patch. I need to mow at 3 mph to apply the correct rate.
if anyone has slow cranking issues like i had, that turned out to be a grounding issue from corrosion of the ground cable to frame by the starter solenoid , add a 10 gauge wire from the negative battery directly to the engine block ,problem solved .
Very nice. Yesterday i purchased a Cub Cadet Ultima RT1 42" for my little yard. I love your mods. Now i'll just need more money to mod my mower instead of my Concours.
Own a zt1 54". Second year. A shame that I had to buy and install the hour meter myself.. $4000 and it couldn't include a $30 part that should be standard. Love the mower though. Also doing upgrades. Thanks for a few extra ideas
The flaps, light switch, phone holder, rpm gauge with meter, and seat springs are all very useful. Horn, side lights, tv are way too much for a mower lol cool additions overall!
😂 Who are the 28 people who thumb's down this video? LOL This is incredible! Love this whole idea up upgrading it. I see guys wasted $10-$20k on a brand new vehicle to "upgrade" their rig. This makes way more sense to me.
Thanks. It's served me well. I'm in a wheelchair due to run over by a ATV and my landscaping nephew with a fleet of Feris ZTs says it's a blast to use when he mows my lawn while I'm laid up. Comment duly noted. I'll be back out there next year with a update of the update.
@@mrmichaeltscott I want you to know that you're video inspired me to do my own mods to my new Ultima ZT1 50". My first zero turn mower ever. During my first drive (horrible driving skills mind you 😂) I found I really disliked backing up. It was different on the old rider, and I ended up ordering some side mirrors. I picked out a larger set that fit an ATV. The hours meter arrived 2 days ago, along with a voltage meter, seat springs (wow awesome), and the deck spray out valve. The cellphone holder and seat cable-stop (hold the seat when leaning forward to check fuel level) are on the way. Maybe, I've invested $130 into it? The weather has been dry for the past 3 weeks here in south western PA, so no mowing for a while till we get some rain. I'm sure I will do more, but this is enough to get me going 😊
I just did the blade S spindles to star with new blades. 100% better cut. I should have done it day 1. I had the parts since new. Just figured I'd wait until I needed. Just wow how much better it cuts.
Man you nailed it! Well done sir, love to see links embedded to the product s you used like Hobbs meter, cell phone holder, edge lights etc..but seriously dead one great job!
Understood. I do this just as a helpful hobby. For no money and no affiliates. So no links. There are links in comments though. Just having fun with it.
Lol thank you! I'm just a big Cub Cadet fan. This is one of 5 I own. They do things pretty smart. But I always look to improve and make it my own. Today i turned the exhaust deflector 180° to point 7 Oclock and installed insulation on the underside of the removable deck to deflect sound. Much quieter now. Thanks for the nice comment.
Thanks Michael for sharing your enthusiasm for taking a great machine and making it even better! I’just bought the ZT1 50” four days ago. I’ve been mowing my 2 acres with a nice John Deere LT 160 for several years. The steering went out finally after 17 years so I decided it was time to take the plunge to the New World of zero turn mowing. All I can say is wow why didn’t I do this year’s ago, and as far as the cub cadet goes, I know they make a good product but apparently this year they really came out swinging with this great lineup of Ultima mowers! It would have been awesome to have the armrests and the hourmeter on it however I understand the business of why they did that and in return they put on the Kawasaki engine in the awesome headlamps and what can you say when you look at that 2“ x 2“ continuous tubular steel frame in that color that just screams at you. I never did mind spending three hours mowing my yard giving the gratification that you get from doing that but now when my wife says “The yard needs mowing honey” hi just smile and say ” I know right“ When I saw your video I just thought wow it can get better! Anyway I already have the run leader digital hour meter that you showcased and I am going to be installing it this afternoon. You remind me of my cousin Jimmy down in Chattanooga, good old boy just doing his thing! Fun but no nonsense! Thanks for taking the time to show us what you have done for inspiration, happy mowing and whatever else you plan on doing with that beast. All the best Bill in Michigan!
Mirrors are old school. You should install a backup camera and feed it to you display screen. Also, why does it look like there’s a split in your front frame cross member right above the deck mount nut?
Excellent Job. I recently purchased a 54 inch and have added the mirrors ,where did you get the caps for the top wheel bolts and how did you wire the off and on switch for your lights...Thanks
another add on would be the seat slides from a zt4 part number SI-110691PS with the added trac seat suspensions kit sure helped mine after a double knee replacement , i'm able to adjust the seat for him and her when she cuts
Totally impressed! I’m plotting and planning upgrades for mine. I might add some multi-colored LEDs, some fur for the mirrors, and some hydraulics for some three wheel motion. LOL!! On the serious side, what’s the pump for?
Came here looking for a solution to hold the discharge chute up, and i can see a cord coming from it on your mower, but unfortunately you didn't discuss that mod so i have no clue what you sis there. Can you let me know? Thanks!
Drilled a hole. Ran 550 cord through it. A high power magnet holds it in place. Used clear tape to protect paint from magnet. You can also just loop it around the foot pedal for deck height. I did talk about it.
I hope that didn't happen. I moved the phone holder to the vertical part of the push bar and while mowing is easy to see. I have put mine in the cup holder. But it did look jumpy. I buried my phone once when it fell off my tractor while boxblading. It would ring and I located it with a stethoscope to unearth it. 🤣🤣
They sell them many brands and prices. Just search your fav store. They make a mini stereo 8 receiver and transmitter. If you have BT headphones already. You just need the Transmitter. It plugs into earphone slot and transmits BT signal.
Good job, the ones I like( which should be stock_ Hourmeter, armrests and mud flaps( wonder how long the ungreasable casters will last? I have a brandnew 50" ZT1 which I am sacrificing for $3000 should anyone be intersted, had to get the 4 wheel steering one for my hilly terrain and am going to take a loss on my zero hr ZT1, to get it out of the shed.
Just Harbor freight air horn kit. The button is a 20amp push button from Auto zone with a random cap I had laying around to waterproof it. If you use the heavy rated switch. You don't need a relay. Still works great!
