The funny thing is, people in the West only have the illusion of freedom. Then they want to export this illusion to other countries...
@Kenny-yl9pc

Why do you say "soon they are going to have freedom"? Is there a transformational change happening in Cuba? I would love to see the people of Cuba enjoying freedom to live life as they see fit without having excessive governmental intrusion. I hope and wish they can develop their economy freely in order to raise their standard of living, i.e. to be able to enjoy the fruits of labour and modern age. Maybe someday...

It is a good and exciting documentary. I am Cuban and left my country a long time ago. The data in this video changed a lot. Cuban people are suffering; they need to wait a very long food line, and the hospitals don't have medical supplies. Also, education is declining because many teachers are leaving the country. It is unfortunate, but once a country has the same political system, Socialism, the society falls. Human Rights in Cuba is zero. The most beautiful thing Cuba has is its people ❤

This one of the best documentary videos I have watched about Cuba recently.'I grew up in the islands of Barbados and Trinidad, West Indies; with the opportunity and funds to visit Cuba and spend sometime in the future, I would never reconsider a return to those islands in the archipelago; poor Cuba in consumerist values but rich in what matters to me; a populace able to feed itself and still with a welcoming and unbowed community spirit.

Thanks for this video. It can be improved with sub-titles when a person speaks Spanish. I was in Cuba in 2017 & travelled all over the island. People are friendly, everywhere we went. Cuba has a great education & medical system for the people. The US embargo is a crime against humanity. Because of the embargo, Cuba was not able to access medicines etc required to treat the sick people & many died. The world must unite & push the US to lift the embargo. I hope China can help Cuba improve its economy & living standards of the people. Viva Cuba!! God bless Cuba & the Cuban people. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺

An absolutely brilliant video that answered a lot of questions I've had about Cuba. And you answered those questions in the best possible way by taking me with you as you asked the same questions, and presented the answers on camera. The answers came from real life Cubans in an unedited way. Not some clinical way prepared by a governmental department putting their spin on unreality. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to journeying with you on future outings.

It’s very complicated though. Yes Cuba is beautiful, the people are amazing and much more. But, it’s not just the American government that is against the opening of travel. Remember President Obama attempted to ease restrictions, it wasn’t america that had a problem, Cubans in America were the most upset because it showed favor towards the Cuban government. Again it’s not as simple as it seems. I’m very excited to explore Cuba again next year

A good sightseeing tourist video. Your Saratoga hotel frame, before or after the explosion that took out the 3 front floors. Chess is popular because of Capablanca the world chess champ in the "20s, NOT of Fidel. Cigars dipped in honey a fad at that farm. Marti park in Cienfuegos was finished in 1850. He was born in 1853. The oil rigs near Varadero are not a surprise. They have been there for years pumping a very low grade oil. A few of the pre-embargo cars have mostly original parts but very few. Mostly the body shells hide Toyota diesel engines and God know what. I have seen one with a boat (marine) engine under the hood. Much of the chrome pieces are hand hammered including some bumpers. And finally, australis is Latin for southern. Maybe the town is south of Habana?

Why do people get so pi55y when anybody ever mentions a European discovering someplace that Europeans didn't previously know about? I mean _obviously_ the natives knew that _the place they lived_ existed, I mean, that's like, _"Daww..!"_ (and, no, in the context of a discussion of historical exploration it's not incorrect or insulting to refer to the locals as 'natives'). Or perhaps we should credit whoever was the first ever person to come across from Florida or wherever in prehistoric times, be it deliberately, "to seek out new lands", or simply because they too were "lost", perhaps because of a storm or something, and discovered Cuba for the Amerindians (or should that be "Amerindians", in inverted commas? I'm not an anthropologist, politically correct or otherwise). Well - if you or anyone else knows their name, I'll be happy to do so! Anyway, as I say, I'm no anthropologist, but I believe the original populations in the islands of the Caribbean were for the most part wiped out (by European diseases, and European brutality, absolutely!) - my point being, is it not a bit moot to talk about the first person in a new land, of a people that no longer exist, as a 'discoverer'? That said, I'm not at all familiar with how that process played out in Cuba, what the genetic legacy of those unfortunate people is, or whether any of their descendants are still around... "Long story, short", I guess what I'm saying is that Christopher Columbus may well have been a creep of the highest (or lowest!) order, though I should say that there are plenty of people who say that by the standards of the time he wasn't "that bad of a guy" - that he was actually something of a defender of the natives, and that all those nasty stories we've heard, that those were his lieutenants and his men, or subsequent voyagers or whatever. I guess it depends on which videos, websites, etc, you've seen! Tbh, I have neither the knowledge or the energy to get into it (so - fair warning - I'm not going to!) Irrespective though of whatever kind of l8as†erd he may have been, and irrespective of the fact that he was lost (it wasn't his fault that the _actual_ size of the Earth, calculated centuries previously by the Greeks, had been lost; his theory was sound, or would have been but for the embarrassing fact that there was a whole continent - pair of continents(!) - in his way) -- even if he wasn't, as he thought, in the East Indies, it _does not_ negate the fact that he discovered the _West_ Indies. Sometimes 'Great' men inconveniently turn out to be 'bad' men, (or worse, vvhy†e men!) but it is a dangerous day for knowledge when we would negate their achievements and discoveries. Newton, for example, was a horrible person - as head of the Royal Mint he had forgers castrated; but do we deny his discoveries in the the field of physics and mathematics?! (Of course we mustn't forget, they too are on the list for 'decolonisation'!) Of course there are exceptions for everything, and it would stick in my throat 'crediting', if that's the right word, π@z| doctors for the discoveries they made as a result of their experiments on, and vivisection of, concentration camp prisoners; but again, there are those who would throw out the knowledge gleaned thereby, as if it could bring back those people, or negate the insults inflicted on their living bodies! Surely the waste of such hard won information ('hard won' by the suffering of the victims, as opposed to the sadistic curiosity of their captors) would be the ultimate insult to the subjects of those monstrous actions. Anyway, sorry, I've gone off on a bit of a tangent, not to mention that I've probably gone on rather enough anyway... Oh well - as they say, never mind the quality, just feel the width!

My father went to Cuba with a doctor friend, in order to have medical supplies for the people. They hired a native to drive them about, everywhere on the island. Once, they stopped in Havana to purchase something to eat. my father ordered a turkey sandwich and a few croquettes of meat. My father offered the driver some of the bought food. but the driver, told them, "no, gracias." and, so my father asked why he was refusing the offer. to which, the driver answered, "you are eating "buitre" - which is vulture. My father and the doc accompanying him, eat this. since refusing it, was consciously the wrong thing to do, while the people of the island lacked access to food, period. I was proud of the doc and father for having done this. they've never spoken of how the experience tasted. all I know is that once bought, this food was not going to be thrown away. no, not as long as people found little food to get of their own. I myself, think vulture meat would taste like gamey chicken. which I, here in this land of plenty would find repulsive. vive la diference?

@@jasonlo8780 $$$ like many from all over the world leave there country for, n if their fortunate enough like my husband has been from working hard, you buy yourself a little house, in our casa a little beach house n vacation there every year with family n friends, n hopefully retire in your(Isla) country. I think most people's dream is to go back home for good, one-day! USA is great to make $, that's why so many risk their lives to come, but it'll never be home sweet home...
@jasonlo8780
@jasonlo8780 Год назад
@@flower4598 makes a lot of sense, I agree with you it's definitely a dream., with that being said the house you guys bought is not really yours, they can take it away from you whenever they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Just be careful, I think any country where people are starving, tourist live better and you don't really own anything is very dangerous. It says a lot when people risk their lives in homemade rafts to flee says a lot ab Cuba, I'm Cuban myself and never want to go back. We had to flee as well for a better living, and that says a lot. You are in the best country with endless opportunities right now. I hope all goes well for you guys!

(45:55) We have that expression too in Mexico, although it really means that a woman is very sexy; it's a bit of a difference. It's like comparing Audrey Hepburn to Bridget Bardot. Both are beautiful but Bardot has that extra factor.

Nice video understanding that you had boundaries and limitations as anybody that visits a country that has not held democratic elections in over 60 years. A single party government in power by gun fire since 1959 and later first thing they did was take all the guns away from the people. There was no support by the US to the Bay of Pigs invasion, the liberators were slaughtered on that dam beach because of a failed US administration which later used Cuba as a bargaining chip with the USSR.
