Why some Jamaican don't want to hear the truth, stop protecting politicians and agree with the truth.

I suspect this woman goes to the high-end medical facilities in Jamaica whenever she needs medical care. Wondering if she ever considers going to Cuba at such times. Notice that she doesn’t talk about her personal experiences? She quoting The Gleaner and a telephone call to a high-end hospital that DOESN’T care for children to support her claim. Everywhere in the world, poor people have greater challenges than those experienced by the wealthy; it’s not only in Jamaica!

Cuba has 6.7 doctors per 1000 people compared to USA that has 2.8 doctors. Heath care and the training of doctors in Cuba is a way of generating income for the state. In other words it is viewed as a business so naturally the bulk of the country's financial resources will be poured into the health sector. Cuba exports at least 30,000 doctors to foreign countries each year with the government collecting the bulk of their earnings while they the doctors getting a fraction. Naturally Cuba would have a robust Heath system. The income earned overseas from so many doctors alone is enough to keep it going. By the way a doctors salary in Cuba is US 70 dollars per month. Go figure. Make a comparison as to how people in the health sector are paid in Jamaica. If that lady is not satisfied with the service here she is free to leave . We are not where we want to be as a country but we are getting there. We have not built any new hospitals in about 40 years. Both sides of government have to take blame for this. However as of recently some work has been initiated which is good. Let me conclude that I have issues about the negativity that you and some of your fellow Kenyans have been spreading about Jamaica. I dont see you guys targeting any other Caribbean country. Defamation can be very expensive. Make sure that your content is factual.

Even in the US, there are instances where desperate(for various reasons) patients find themselves reaching out to Cuba in search of healthcare. It is true that there’s a perception by some that Cuba has great healthcare. I’m not sure that that’s true. What I suspect is that there is a higher percentage of doctors in Cuba because of the emphasis that country has put on graduating doctors. Even Jamaicans who couldn’t get into medical school in Jamaica went over to Cuba for training. The same is happening with US citizens wanting to be doctors but not qualified for medical schools in the US!

There is a lot going on in your country Kenya for you to Vlog about, so leave my country Jamaica alone. I know you are looking for increase viewership. There are big riots going on in Kenya at the moment, please Vlog about that and mind your business over there in Africa.

More doctors don't always equate with better healthcare! I live in the US near a hospital that's rated highly around the world and has over 5,000 MDs; yet the care one really gets from this hospital is woefully horrible. Unfortunately, most who use the services are unaware of the very poor quality of the medical care at this place. They get most attention from Registered Nurses who are NOT doctors, but who enjoy being thought of as such through the constant delegation by LAZY doctors! Cuban doctors are all over the world, but that doesn't equate to great medicine. I would NEVER go to a Cuban doctor. I know many Jamaicans who think like me. Even a Cuban doctor who I know is currently getting treatment from Jamaican doctors -- not his fellow Cuban doctors!

Yes, our health system isn’t perfect! But what is always perfect everywhere? If that were the case, this woman would probably have stayed in Cuba. Then she wouldn’t be in Jamaica interfering with our government! Regardless of our situation in Jamaica, I think most Cubans would be happier and grateful to be in Jamaica. That said, most Jamaicans, like me, would never go to a Cuban doctor! I know one in St. Ann’s Bay who couldn’t even care for himself: he’s only 42, yet he’s suffering from diabetes, kidney failure, and hypertension; and he’s not seeking help from his fellow Cuban doctors nor flying to Cuba for help- he’s being cared for by Jamaican doctors!

You see, it's attitudes like yours that prevents Jamaica from enjoying a better way of life. You're sitting there that she should be grateful for being in Jamaica. Really? I'm from the UK, our healthcare services aren't perfect, but they are darned sight better than what you have in Jamaica. What's even worse is that a lot of countries less well off than Jamaica still have better healthcare. The health care in Jamaica is lacking for it's own people, but because a foreigner is telling you, you chat as if Jamaica is the only tropical island on earth and is beyond criticism. I've seen it with my own eyes in Jamaica and too many clinics don't have the correct equipment as a basic standard.

@@Fleshox19-uz3qt News for you! I reside in the US, in an area that's regarded as one of the best hubs for medicine. And, I know a bit about medicine through training. I also can tell you that Jamaica's medical care is superior to the US in important ways -- particularly physicians' bedside competence! The only thing the US has over Jamaica in terms of medical care is modern cutting-edge equipment. Frankly, Jamaica currently cannot afford such equipment. Nevertheless, after years of frustrations trying to access appropriate healthcare, I determined that I'm far better off getting my primary care in Jamaica. Now, I will go to hospitals here only in emergency cases. Last time, I did so because of persistent chest pain, my decision was validated: I was held in the emergency unit for 14 hours, but the care was most horrible! 15 different persons "treated" me, but only one MD, and that MD was in no way near competent like my Jamaican doctors. She was surprised about my having challenged her reasoning and quickly left the room. She apparently discussed this with a Physician Assistant who subsequently came and questioned me about my medical knowledge. That PA too was about to put me through a dangerous procedure, which was avoided because of my background knowledge. Most people who go to this hospital probably believe that the huge medical staff equates with quality. Who can blame them? The hospital has over 5,000 MDs! However, most of the people dealing with patients are not doctors but nurses. During my visit, I was questioned by 9 different nurses before a PA looked at me, then a Nurse Practitioner, a Medical Assiatant, a Nurse Practitioner again, and then an MD! Such foolishness doesn't happen in Jamaica! I went to Medical Associates in Kingston and got to a doctor after been seen by one nurse. Now, which is better? I hope Jamaica will soon get into a position where more modern medical equipment is affordable, but one has to recognise that money is limited. With all of Jamaica's needs, it's understandable that some areas won't immediately have their needs met. Jamaica is still a poor country, but it's doing remarkably well with its limited resources. I'm grateful for being Jamaican!

Just talked with a friend who is a retired teacher, and I was surprised by the benefits he is enjoying! He got his cataract removed at NO cost to him; he's on medications for hypertension and diabetes too but pays nothing! Try that in the US! Sadly, even some politicians seek medical care in the US. But perception is sometimes dangerous! See how many travel to the US for care but die soon thereafter? I feel many would have lived longer if they had stayed in Jamaica for their medical care. I KNOW, US medical care outside its cutting-edge equipment is GROSSLY overrated!

In Jamaica, we had to hire Cuban doctors during the plan-demic. The Jamaican government doesn’t give a dam about their people! It’s no time for lies, because this is 2024, and it’s a leap year. Only the truth will win this year. 🙏🏽👁🤷🏽‍♀️🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥

Some of us are so myopic, Jamaica’s health care is not perfect , but it is fairly good. In the UK, the USA and other well developed countries, many foreign doctors are employed, so it is not unique to Jamaica.

@@stefanpowell3346; How I choose to phrase my sentences is none of your business. I am speaking about the Jamaican government and how little they care about the people. I don’t care what political party you subscribe to; the bottom line is Jamaica has a deplorable health care system. The Jamaican government chose to pay foreign doctors and nurses more money, instead of paying their own people. The hospitals have very little equipments, most are unsanitary, etc.

You don't have basic equipment in your clinics. Stop copping, you're talking rubbish if you're saying that they have good health care, they don't.
