He is such a humble guy. Bless him. I can totally relate to what he saying about treating people with certain biases because of the kind of jobs they do. I'm a receptionist at a certain place and I have been amazed by how people can be mean to others just because of the jobs they do. Some call unlearned but again you can't begin to explain to them why you are doing what you do for a living. When you tell them a little about yourself they are sorry they treated you that way. But again you learn not to take it to heart.

I love it when I hear positive things about my home State, Texas, born and raised. We're not all bad. My mom who started out as a kitchen worker in our local hospital was so loved and respected by both Blacks and Whites that two doctors who saw her loving and caring nature asked if she would consider going to school to be a nurse? These two White doctors made this possible for her and paid her way , the first Black woman to become a nurse in our small town, 25+ years as a nurse. My dad trained to be a plumber by a White man, the first Black man to do so and did plumbing for almost 60 yrs. Like I said Texas has good people all over!!!!!!!

I remember how many times I have been treated as a prostitute when in a hotel or just checking in with my white husband of 29 years even when I am the bread winner. The man is blessed 🙏 beyong measures. Unfortunately, when our black brothers reach a certain status in society like this gentleman-- they hardly pick a wonderful black woman. It's like they believe more in the white image in order to be accepted in the high rank society. When these black folks die _ all their inheritance return back to their white partners _ hence to the white society. No wonder why our black economy always crumble. The black people in power who have money continue to reinforce the economy of the white man. Compared to other races, we black people are so caught up in that white Jesus given to us by the white man - that that colonial mentality of the slave master make us think that we need to have a white partner in order to be considered better and fit in in the white community. David W. Will continue to face all types of discrimination _ unless he decides to surround himself with his own black folk and be with a black woman like him. Otherwise, his ancestors will be chasing him all the time. Chinese are good example to follow - They are about their own. They never deny their own culture. They carry it every where with them. The Chinese shops and restaurants are always decorated with Chinese items. That's so powerful.

I will tell one story out of many about judging - I used to work for the National Trust in the UK as the Senior Legacy Officer. One day at a meeting, a group of men visiting the Trust, assumed I was a kitchen help (even though I was wearing a suit) and one of them snapped his finger and demanded I made them teas and coffees. One of the kitchen assistants saw what was happening and tried to say something, but I signaled to her not to. So, I made the teas and coffees but apparently I was not quick enough so one of the men made a sarcastic comment asking whether the teas and coffees would be ready "this side of the year". When the teas and coffees had been made and the men were enjoying their drinks with biscuits and cakes, I went straight to the front, got on stage and introduced myself as the person heading the meeting. The men's faces?? PRICELESS, their mouths?? JAW DROPPING😂!

This is a son of a very humble man of God here in USA. Humble and intelligent family in USA. This young man is real inspirational to young people. See how watu wetu are so judgemental. Just because he is married to a white girl they assume he is a driver. Never judge people by their look. Humility is a virteous thing. They see mukurino and judge. The guy is high IQ. Biases and puting people in a box. Never anyone

David's father Prof. Solomon Waigwa is even more inspiring. From the time he was a primary school teacher in a school called Ol taffeta primary school in Laikipia where he was being housed in a "cage" made of iron sheets both the walls and the roof. Hopefully you can also bring his father in your program.

Wow Lynn! How do I explain how I feel after having heard this interview? All my life as a black girl raised and educated here in the United States, has been as I now see, a life beneath what my possibilities are. Though I am greatful for the many blessings I have received, I now see how many more of them have not been taken advantage of. I can give excuse after excuse why and how this is true but at the end of the day, they all end up with me and my decisions . I wish it was possible for me to have seen this interview as a young girl even though it would have been difficult for me to have done so as there was no internet back then and there weren't even cell phones . Please don't ever consider not doing this work that your are doing. Being a journalist may not be you being a doctor, yet you still have the ability to save lives. The only thing we patients have to do is listen and let the inspiration of your stories provide as fuel for us to propel. This interview caught my interest because of the title but it turned ot to be about so much more. When I listened to this interview the fibers of my body were charged. Thank you so very much! Now at 53 years of age I am concentrating will be concentrating on being the best navigator of this plane called self I can be. To David and his wife I wish you peace, and many many more blessings. Thank you for being who you are.

"their position does not define their self worth" - well said, David. This is something I encourage people I coach to internalise from both sides. Sometimes due to circumstances in/outside the workplace, many define themselves solely by the work they and others do. Or they elevate the worth of others merely based on the work those people do, which can lower self confidence and communication of their own value. Thank you both for this interview.

@@oscarwaiharo Coaching is part of what I do, to help stressed professional regain or develop their confidence to move to the next level in their career/job, by upgrading their skills for interviews, presentations, meetings, handling job changes. Many times changing self- communication allows for more creative ways to deal with work challenges that can derail us. That's one reason why this interview resonated with me.
