It’s called a Ducking stool. As a medieval witch Hunter myself, I am OUTRAGED at this typo!

It is not mentioned in the video, but one of the reasons people had legit fears about water, was due to the clothes they wore at the time. The fabric in question, was insanely absorbent, women or young children near a river, either due to washing clothes, or simply playing would fall in, even in a river where the water would maybe just reach your knees, you could end up being weighed down so much that you physically could not get back up, and you would drown. If any of you have ever jumped into water while fully clothed you know how much weight you gain due to your clothes absorbing water, now try to imagine that with clothing that tripled that amount. People had a legit reason to be afraid of water, and that is not even taking in mind how quickly your body goes into shock which the video mentiones, if it is cold outside when you become fully soaked, you will enter shock in about 10 min, you cannot prevent this from happening your body will actively enter a state where you shut down. Now, I did say you will enter shock in 10 min or so, but you can actually enter it nearly instantly upon being submerged in cold water, sooooo yeah.........

In the east Yorkshire village (England) where I grew up all the kids were scared of the “ ducking pond” we never knew how deep it was. It’s diameter would be about 25feet and we were told it was used for “ducking” (I assume this to be an analogy for how ducks put their heads underwater seemingly for ages) the local criminals in the distant past. They would tie the crim to a chair and swing dunk the chair in the water submerging the crim…. Repeat offences meant they left you under for longer, you get the idea….
