I wonder what happened to the cuckoo's DNA that made it start hijacking other bird's nests. When did it decide that it was too lazy to build its own nests, sit on its own eggs, feed its own chicks? On top of that, it becomes a murderer right after its born! I would like to see a bunch of cukoos locked up in the same cage to see if any of them can become parents.

Yes this little cuckoo used its bootie to kick out all of its foster siblings and yes this cuckoo forced the parents to eat its giant droppings during feedings, but ya gotta love them. They are CUTE as hell.
Poor mother is tired of getting food for this monster. She doesn't even know that this is not her own baby, but the murderer of her babies. She is raising the murderer of her own babies without knowing this.

Some parasite yes! But some no as they create population control. Parasite are not enough to wipe out the host or else they die too. But if you suddenly wipe out all the parasites the host gonna over hunt their prey

Im in utter shock at how strong that baby bird is. Ive never seen anything like that before! Is this normal? It was rather disturbing to watch, but it is nature.

They actually bully the parents into feeding them until the parents are so exhausted they die. If the foster parents refuse to raise the chick then the cuckoo parents victimise the birds and destroy any future nest sites and even go as far as to attack the foster parents if they try to fly away from the area

the weird thing is once they grow into adulthood there's no way they could possibly remember being a few hours old and removing everyone else from the nest. not saying that like birds have the capacity for guilt or anything, but in the cuckoo's eyes it just had a typical childhood with a smaller mom

There are times when cuckoo eggs hatch at the same time or later, this time both the host chicks and cuckoo will be provided with food by parents. It's because science would not be the appropriate means to explain it. Biology or natural sciences and natural biology and in particular evolution and instinct are what does explain it.
It has nothing to do with intelligence or nullify the weak. It's just newborn cuckoo chicks instinct to push anything touches their backside. It's like an itch that can only be cured by pushing anything on its back. They would even push their adopted bird parents, but can't cause bird parents are too big. @@jackhoward8 That still doesn’t explain why it has the “itch” to begin with? Did cuckoos first have multiple eggs in their own nest and the battle Royal began against its own kind until a parent started laying eggs in another species nest? It’s just crazy to think about.
@@TooManyChoices1 It is intriguing to think about how it all started. There are some species that do have sibling rivalry to the death; where resources are very scarce, it makes only the strongest survive to be fed fully rather than both or all not making it at all.

for mother birds to be stupid to there own egg and there own chick is just beyond me.they see it trying to get it through nest and do nothing but sit thete.aweful just awful and no excuse at all
It isn't "evil" animals have no concept of good and bad. Those are human concepts. Animals do what their instinct tells them to do. It isn't pleasant but it's life and everything has it's place in the natural order. The baby cuckoo birds who started shoving out the original babies/eggs had a better chance of surviving. Those grew up and bred. Those genes survived and spread. Probably took a million years or more to get that behavior up to this level.

They kill them beacuse the cuckoo chick is so big that it needs the amount of food of 3 or 4 chicks of the mothers species to survive. The mother bird would not be able to provide enough food for all of them. And no, they won't wipe out other bird species. Only 1-2% of the nests of the targeted bird species contain a cuckoos egg.
