Hello, William Porter here from Born Again Clocks in Minnesota. Today we have a antique cuckoo quail movement that has a few issues. It is a GHS, Gordian Hettich & Sohn from possibly the mid 1800's. What has been happening is the weights have been falling with no pattern as to when. Further investigation revealed the ratchet wheels, clicks and chain wheels have worn over time. When everything lined up just right the click would slide off to the side of the ratchet wheel, releasing the positive locking and drop the weight. To preserve the movement and replace only what is needed I have come up with a practical solution that will maintain as much of the original parts as possible.
