I have a DCC-1200MR that became clogged. This was the best video I could find that showed how to unclog it. Unfortunately, it did not help me. My machine was clean when I followed this procedure. I thought I'd share what I did find. I had to remove four star screws from the bottom of the machine to view the bottom and found two rubber hoses underneath. I was able to remove them to blow into them. One was clogged. I replaced those hoses and all is good now. Thanks for this video and getting me started.
So grateful to find this video! The problem was exactly what was wrong with our coffee maker, and the video made it straightforward to fix it. It is really useful to have a couple of small screwdrivers for this job. The clogged piece would only open half way for me and I didn't want to force it and risk breaking the little latches, so held it open with a small, thin screwdriver (sufficient space for the grounds) and just rinsed it out in the sink. You know it's clear when water flows freely out of the drip spout end and the feed end.
I'm so mad your video didn't come up in the searches the past 3 weeks I looked for coffeemaker fixing videos. I tried so many other methods but THIS is what I exactly needed all along. Was almost gonna throw the machine away cause there was no hope so thank God this video popped up!
Thank you for sharing your story & video!! We had the exact same thing happen yesterday morning, my husband actually ordered a new coffee maker yesterday afternoon, I followed your video and cleaned it all out last night and he was able to cancel the order before they shipped it out. So glad to save the coffee maker, and the money!
This is 4 years after you made this video. Thank you!Ww3 Was about to start over a coffee pot ! I hit the clean instead of brew and clogged it. This video saved many lives.
Thank you. Not only was I able to get our coffee maker working again but I also ended up feeling empowered! My husband was ready to just order a new coffee maker, but by following your excellent video, I was able to repair and keep our four-month-old machine.
OMG! This was fantastic. I bought mine at Costco too. Slightly different model CBC-6500PC. The upper parts that you speak of are identical. It totally works now. I run a vacation rental and people are always doing weird stuff or breaking things. The last guests left me with a full reservoir of water, a clogged system and coffee grounds everywhere. I was about to brew myself a cup of coffee when I noticed it. I was going to go to Costco to see if they would take it back and give me a new one. It was early in the AM and Costco wasn't open yet so I thought, "What the heck...let me check out RU-vid". Thank goodness I found your video. It worked like a charm and now it's as clean as new. What a lifesaver for me. You are a rock star!
We’re on vacation in a fancy condo in Hawai. My wife ran the coffee maker without a filter on day one, and six jet lagged people are going crazy. I followed your instructions and saved the day. Many thanks! Note to Cuisinart - TERRIBLE design that this can happen so easily.
Thank you!! So. Did this last night and voila no more broken machine! Guess I can return the unused one I bought. You saved me money and I impressed the hubby. Can’t thank you enough!
Outstanding!! I knew there grounds in the line, but it really helps to know how to get those parts to separate. I use a reverse osmosis to filter water, so I didn't think I needed the charcoal filter. There really should be a cleanable metal screen for the water intake. Thanks for the very helpful video!
My college student came home and made coffee without the lid. Thank you so much for such a great video of exactly what I needed to do to have coffee in the morning. Having to buy coffee on the way to work was out of my way!!!
Thank you for posting this. I was ready to buy a new coffee maker until I saw and watched your post. Fixed it in 5 minutes. You saved me from buying a new coffee maker and now I know how to fix it if that happens again.
The excellent demo. You did a great job. My wife says I cannot do this because I get too quickly frustrated--so I am glad you shared to take time and be gentle is what I heard.
I, like your wife forgot to attach the lid as well. I don't know about your wife; but for me, I chalk it up to being an ADD dimwit because I do stupid things like this every so often. And I AM ADD. And this was the second coffeemaker I did it to. You would think I would have learned from the first time. Not so for me. But I KNEW there had to be a solution on RU-vid and lo and behold you provided that solution. I am now brewing delicious coffee again with my Cuisinart Coffee Maker. So, THANK YOU! By the way I sent an email to Cuisinart suggesting they make the lid NON-REMOVABLE. A quick solution to prevent this from happening. At least I think so. Haven't received a response yet.
I just found your video and my husband repaired ours in five minutes!!! I’d forgotten to put the reusable filter in place and the coffee grounds backed up into it just like yours. Thanks so much!!!
So thankful to find this posted video! This is exactly what I did (forgot to put on the carafe lid🥴)... This video saved our coffee maker☕️! Thank you 👍🏻!
Thank you this was very helpful! We had a similar situation I put the carafe in the dishwasher in the evening and my husband woke up early and turned the coffee pot on without the carafe in the coffee maker. We tried several things to get it working again and were about to replace it and found you video. Exactly our issue and it fixed it!
There is a MUCH EASIER way. I watched this video and then realized that I could reverse flush it with a garden hose. Take the coffee maker outside, lay it on its side on the grass; then apply the garden hose (I did it with a spray nozzle) to the hole in the center of the lid. It will flush out ALL of the blockage in seconds...................AND you do not have to tear it apart. Be sure to just focus the hose on the center of the lid. You DO NOT want to get water in the electronics in the body of the coffee maker.. Works like a champ.
Exact same thing happened to us--Cuisinart coffee maker backed up and stopped working. I had no idea what was broken and it was set out to throw away. Found this video, and it described the problem and the fix EXACTLY. Thank you so much! Looking forward to more years of good coffee now.
I have had this brand before & knew that it needed the lid on the coffee pot. I have never forgotten to put the lid on, but it still got clogged just from daily use. This worked perfectly! Thanks!
Exact thing happened to me and was able to fix thanks to this vid. Was headed out to the garbage with it when I thought- maybe someone’s got a vid on this… thanks!!
Thanks for this; it helped me solve the same problem. I had a slightly different model; removing the nozzle was harder but separating the two halves was easier.
THANK YOU!!! I was JUST on the way out the door to go get a new coffee maker but I thought I would check on youtube to see if someone knew what to do. The other day for some reason the coffee grounds went EVERYWHERE inside the machine and I just knew it was clogged. THIS was exactly what was wrong and now my coffee maker is working again!! YAY!!
I do have to add, I had another Cuisinart from Costco that I threw away and I am just SiCK because I now know it was fixable. Shame on Cuisinart for not educating us but they just want us to buy another one.
Saved me $100 and my sanity. Putting the piece back on @2:30 was a pain. I found pushing it back towards the lid, then sliding it left works better then the angle and shove method. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the video. I tried this for the SS-20 model and had to do a couple more steps afterwards to get it working again. Don't snap everything back right away to try your test run. It turns out the clear pipe was also clogged. We use a hanger to clear the L joint and clear pipe that long piece was connected to. Then we ran the brew several times with just the long piece in placed without the square cover until the from the brew is almost clear. The hanger losen the clog inside the pipe and the multiple brew run flashed out the residual coffee ground in other areas. Be careful the water gets very hot so don't open the lid during the brew test run. Put everything back together after the water comes out clean in the coffee pot.
Many thanks! I did not put the lid on but it was only a small amount of coffee being made, so the grind were not too bad. Great demonstration on taking apart! I was able to do that.
This video solved the problem for me. Thanks. Easy fix- with two screwdrivers, one for prying and one to help to keep the leverage maintained while I was prying other areas.
Thank You for helping me repair the coffeemaker. Did exactly what you stated, cleared the grinds and snapped pieces back into place. Husband made coffee without the lid....argh
Just bought ours a month ago! My husband did the same thing and didn’t check to put the carafe lid on first! Thankful I found your video, we were just going to replace it! Ugh!
Thank you so much! My wife got this Coffee Maker for Christmas and immediately made the same mistake. I was able to fix it, made her happy and me love that I could fix it. Saved our marriage... just kidding but a little.
Upon moving yesterday I believe this has happened to my Cuisinart Extreme Brew. Will be trying to do this when I return from work. Hope I have the skills to get the pieces apart so nicely. Appreciate You. *dig the kooky music
I did the same thing as your wife only I forgot to put the whole carafe under the filter. What a mess! After my mistake I cleaned my machine ( so I thought ) but the brew still taste like burnt coffee. After seeing your video I now know what the problem is. I have Cuisinart DCC-1100 and it appears to be assembled the same as in your video. Thanks...wish me luck...
Thanks very much, great video. One improvement to your fix, when removing the nozzle at the 1 minute 11 second point of the video, if you push the nozzle arm down as far down as it will go, it slides right off to the right, no prying with a knife or screwdriver required. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. Was about to throw the thing out! BTW, I found that I didn't have to take the nozzle piece off. I just separate the halves while it was attached and gave it a rinse.
Ah ha! I didn't know that was the purpose of the knob on top of the carafe, and holy cow has the coffee maker been plugged up with every pot since. Now I know why! Thanks! (it's the coffee pot at work, so I didn't have the book LOL).
Instead of taking mine apart I laid it on it's back with the top lid over the sink. I ran water through the holes flipping the lid up and down so the water would get into that arm. I flipped the whole coffee maker over and let the water drain out through the holes. I also whacked the top of the lid to loosen up the grounds more. After doing this several times, my coffee maker is as good as new.
I totally agree with everyone else: so incredibly helpful. However, I did manage to break the "spout" which you remove around 1:15, and I cannot find a replacement anywhere online. Apparently there is a trick, described by one of your reviewers, about pressing the spout downwards and then it slides off easily. Damn! Wish I had been more gentle. However the video was a 100% exact solution for my problem. Thanks!
Perfect. Second pot “someone “ forgot to put the lid on the carafe, and I started at the base and worked up . Until I found this I couldnt figure out top disassembly.
In my case, I have a Cuisinart SS-15 combo. I’m trying to brew the 12oz pot but the brew button does not light up blue. I unplug and replug. No effect. Whole time I had boxes of kcups pressed against the on/off toggle button on the side. Anyway, this is still a good video to know about!
This is fabulous! Just what I needed. Unfortunately like another poster - I broke the nozzle piece removing it. Does anyone happen to know the part number or where I can get a replacement? I hate to throw the coffee maker away for this little missing piece.
Hoping I had the same problem but mine looked clean. Took the bottom plate off with a t10 torx screw and found coffee grounds stuck in the non return valve in the little hose at the heating element. Now mine is working again
