The character was injured at or soon after the Battle of the Binary Stars at the start of the series, necessitating the implants.

@@roguelead72 this is the future they can fix any injury not to mention her I saw an extra in a wheelchair on a episode in the second season of discovery they would also have the technical ability to regenerate tissue or fix a leg up like New
